Happy Friday. What a way to finish off the week, Natalie (OT) assisted Elias with the fitting of his first wheelchair. 🦽
Thanks to the support of Elias can now self-propel to keep up with his peers and be at their height to chat and play.

Building hand strength and coordination in kids is super fun with this engaging activity.
Fun fact: Spraying the vinegar utilises the same hand muscles as cutting with scissors! ✂️ Our occupational therapists love incorporating this activity into sessions, an exciting way to support the development of scissor skills!

Preparing for school 📚
✨Balancing the excitement and nerves of the first day can be tricky. Our OT-approved checklist for at home practice is all about fostering independence and boosting confidence:
🛏️ Establish a consistent daily routine including set times for waking up, meals and bed time.
🎒 Practice opening and closing items that they will be using daily such as their school bag and lunch box.
👕 Improve uniform independence by encouraging them to don as much of their school uniform independently as possible. It is particularly important to practice those tricky buttons and zippers!
📕 Reading books about the first day of school can be a powerful tool to nurture your child’s understanding and express those unique first-day emotions.
Theo has been practicing these skills at home in preparation for his first day at school next week. Check out the video- Theo’s improved independence and confidence of these skills is truly impressive!
Nat (OT) just wrapped up a feeding intensive, using the SOS Approach to Feeding. From 10% to 70% food acceptance in just 7 sessions!

Engaging in holiday tasks like baking, offers a range of benefits for kids including:

Sleep is such an important area to support children with. Not only is it imperative for supporting respiratory function, it is also important to support the body to prevent any skeletal changes or areas of pressure. After collaboration with Tanya Heidi is now more comfortable and sleeping well 💤
