I have been working as a naturopath in a retail setting for a few months now and there is something I have noticed. People come in asking for a particular product which, while it may do what they want, it would be so far down the list I wouldn’t tend to consider it.
Internet articles need to be short and concise so they don’t really compare the 20 different herbs, foods or nutrients that could be used and if they do it’s in the form of a listicle.
By all means google away but don’t rely on the internet to give you the most appropriate treatment option for you.
Whipped this up for an after school snack for the family, took about 45 minutes start to finish, granted we ate it while steaming hot. Brownies aren’t meant to be fluffy but I don’t like them too dense so I add just a little baking powder.
We have been doing a weekly trip to the Farmers Market on Manning for about 7-8 years. Besides student clinic when my husband went without me I could probably count on 2 hands the amount of times I have missed it.
Most of these veggies and fruit are organic and all are local, I also buy local organic olive oil, meat and honey. Line caught fish and properly free range eggs. There is a little more than usual here because I’m cooking up some frozen meals for my mum, but the range is fairly normal. There are over 30 different varieties of fruit and vegetables here, add in some lentils, beans, rice, quinoa, buckwheat, oats, eggs, meats, herbs and spices it isn’t that hard to hit your 40 different foods a week.
Watch for my upcoming posts where I turn some of this into easy reheat meals for my elderly mother who is having mobility issues.
Learnt so much and had a great time doing my Mental first Aid Certificate the last few days. Ben from Beyond All Bounds was a fantastic facilitator, he has really upped my consultation skills. So worth it :)
Well yesterday happened, we are in quarantine and I made immune jellies because it's the only way one of my children will take anything. Most of what I put in them are practitioner products which I can supply after a consult.
Formulating some exciting new products, this is part 1 of a fun kit. Elderberry and lemon balm syrup with local honey from
So excited, my business cards and stickers turned up in the mail. I got my bags a few days ago. I can now sell tea 🥳🫖🌱🧋🤩. Just need to experiment and take some photos for my shop page.
We go to the farmers market every Saturday so some Fridays I look in the fridge and wonder how it got so empty. This huge summer squash was about the only thing I had that I could turn into breakfast.
It's easy to get carried away and dwell in negative emotions without really acknowledging them. By putting a name to the emotion, feeling it and accepting the truth of it you actually get over it way quicker. Suppressing emotions just keeps them around until they cause health issues. Take a moment to acknowledge what you are feeling right now.

It’s a Christmas tradition I do a jigsaw, it started about 9 years ago at my in-laws place where we usually stay for a few days.
What do you do to relax over the holidays? One way to figure it out is remember what you did as a kid but don’t do any more.
This is interesting, quality (not how it looks) food really does make a difference. Many soils are low in nutrients so the foods ends up being low too, how stressed the plant is makes a difference too. A stressed plant makes more secondary metabolites like polyphenols so an under watered, bug eaten lettuce is actually better for you than a water logged pristine one.
Because is November and that means pumpkin time even though its totally out of season in Australia.
Vitamin D is probably the most important supplement at the moment, if your levels are under 100 supplementation can be beneficial.
Is there an optimal daily dose of vitamin D for immune function? | Roger Seheult Vitamin D's recommended daily allowance was established based on its role in bone metabolism. It remains unknown whether these levels are sufficient for opti...
We have been told since 1978 to ice soft tissue injury but recent studies have shown it may not be the way to go. As of 2019 RICE (and POLICE) has been replaced with PEACE & LOVE, such a cool acronym. So skip the ice and anti-inflammatory pills and put your feet up for a little while. This new procedure follows naturopathic principles, by resting and then light exercise you are allowing the body to heal its self. Using ice and anti inflammatory medication on an acute injury blocks the healing acute inflammation is there to do.
My morning smoothie. I added 2 types of berries, an apple, lettuce, celery, cauliflower and sweet potato (from the freezer cooked and mashed) and h**p seeds for fats and protein. That's 8 foods towards my 40, my 2 fruit and about 1 1/2 serves of veg. I prefer blending over juicing because you end up with all the fiber which is essential for our gut to function efficiently.
Was up way too early so I made some breakfast muffins. I started with a recipe from https://carrotsncake.com/paleo-morning-glory-muffins/
I added an extra egg, 1/3 cup oat bran, 1/4 cup sesame seeds, 1/4 cup h**p seeds and used pumpkin seeds instead of walnuts. They where amazing 🤩
Watercress is a peppery water loving plant in the same family as broccoli and cabbage. It is super easy to grow and loves running water. It is one of the oldest known vegetables and is great for stimulating digestion, heart health, cancer prevention and is full of vitamins. It's a little much to eat on it's own but goes great in omelettes, pesto, salads, soups & stews.
Habit formation is one of my interests and Gretchen Rubin has heaps of great ideas.

Here is something different to try for breakfast, it takes a little while to make so do it the night before or enjoy it on the weekend.
One of my favourite things is tea, especially making mixes. This one is my brain tea for when I’m studying. It contains Brahmi, ginkgo, rosemary with a hit of lime. It’s very refreshing and slightly sweet.
Dried some lime rind to make teas with, it adds a zing and makes some of the unpleasant herbs taste nice. I may have gone a little over board with the amount I made.
A great gluten free breakfast for these cold mornings
