Congratulations to Jillian Allan, from our Industrial Services team, winner of the Health and Safety Representative Award in the WHS Awards 2023.

Jillian was announced as the winner of this award category at the WHS Awards Gala Dinner 2023, held in celebration and recognition of the safety successes of WA safety professionals and organisations. Jillian was among safety professionals and guests from various industries attending the event at Crown Perth.

Jillian is part of a team of over 30 people working in trade roles including Painters, Fitters and Boilermaker/Welders. Working in a male dominated high risk environment is challenging for anyone, but Jill has taken her role as a Health and Safety Representative to the next level and, through hard work, determination and a positive attitude, has made a significant difference to our safety culture.

The annual WHS Awards recognise and reward individuals and organisational effort and achievement in improving work health and safety.

Congratulations to all the other award category winners and finalists and thank you to the WHS Foundation and all of the award and event sponsors.

Orontide are delighted to announce the appointment of Daniel Madaffari to the role of General Manager, Engineering Services South West.

Daniel has over 26 years’ experience in engineering and has had a long and successful career with our business.

Daniel will take over management of our Bunbury division when long-serving General Manager, Steve Prentice, steps back from the role next week to commence his move towards retirement. Steve has worked with our business for over 35 years, leading our South West based operations for many of these years.

Whilst he has some big shoes to fill, we are confident that Daniel has what it takes to continue to build on the success of our Bunbury division. Daniel’s career began as an Apprentice in our Machining Workshop over 26 years ago. Since then, he has progressed through a number of roles.

Throughout my time at Orontide I have enjoyed many career opportunities with support from great mentors and a strong team culture. Leaving the tools as a CNC Machinist and moving to an office environment where I have worked as a Planner/Estimator, Senior Planner/Estimator and Machining Coordinator, has given me the opportunity to grow with the business. This steady succession has helped me build an excellent rapport with hard working workshop and office-based team members who are vital to the success of the business unit. This experience has also provided me with a solid understanding of our key Industry sectors to ensure that we deliver successful solutions on time for our Minerals Processing, Mining and Oil and Gas Clients. ” he said.

“I am really excited about the new experiences and challenges this role has to offer along with the opportunity to work more closely with the Orontide Leadership Team to ensure that Orontide continues to be successful in the future.”

Working with us for almost four decades since commencing his Apprenticeship in 1984, Peter has always made Orontide a priority and is highly regarded in our workplace for his willingness to help his team members and share his wealth of knowledge with others.

Ash has consistently gone above and beyond to support the team to resolve day-to-day issues, communicating and interacting with clients, supervisors and fellow team members with respect and integrity.

Narayan Lenehan started his journey with Orontide as a Blaster/Painter in our Industrial Services division in 2009. Since this time, Narayan has worked his way up through roles including Leading Hand and Supervisor to his current role as Project Co-ordinator.

As a project Manager, Narayan is responsible for liaising with site Supervisors to ensure the day-to-day operations of site works are running smoothly from safety through to quality and scheduling.

On a typical day, Narayan spends time in the office co-ordinating warehouse activities and communicating with clients with the occasional site visit required for quoting work.

"After 13 years with Orontide it is the connections and relationships I have built within the business that has had the biggest impact on my career. We have a strong culture to promote and teach within and the people around me have helped me to learn and progress within Orontide to achieve success.”

Our Engineering Site Services crew enjoyed a BBQ bacon and egg breakfast to start their day this week. With Engineering Services Operations Manager Danny at the helm, the crew gathered together with client and sub-contractor employees.

Based on site in Kwinana, our Site Services Team are distanced from their workshop colleagues so opportunities like this are essential to keep them connected and feeling valued.

The crew of 13 Boilermakers Welders and a TA have been an integral part of our Engineering Services Henderson division delivering on-site maintenance, refurbishment and project work as part of an ongoing contract for one of our long-term clients.

Congratulations to Trent and Ash, our latest Hazard of the Month Award winners. The two Painter/Blasters were recognised for their efforts to keep our workplace safe by reporting and managing hazards at a BBQ held at our Industrial Services site in Henderson.

Held as part of National Safe Work Month at Orontide, the BBQ also featured a presentation from Safety Equipment Australia (The S.E.A Group) Pty Ltd. Thank you to Straff Graso for providing our Industrial Services team with valuable information on the use, care and maintenance of respirators.
