Rita is an attendee at Ballroom Fit held in Perron Place’s Handa Hall, however she is so much more than just a skilled dancer. 💃

Rita sits on the EverAbility Group Board and works as a lawyer - a very busy woman!

When Rita was little she had a passion for dance, but due to her vision loss was discouraged from pursuing it. So when she came across Ballroom Fit, a dance company that specialises in low vision dancers, Rita jumped at it.

Immediately Rita was hooked. Not only does Ballroom Fit give her the opportunity to dance socially and competitively, but it also means she can spend some quality time with her husband, Mark.

“They [Ballroom Fit facilitators] are so nice and supportive, they know how to guide you, especially vision impaired people. It’s a social event and something to look forward to, in a really pleasing space.” - Rita.

"I started in this position only recently and am busy learning all there is on offer here at Perron Place.

"I have previously worked in Retirement Living, where I was involved in managing the day-to-day running of a large Retirement Village Community Centre. This was a fun and very rewarding job as I loved interacting with the village residents and guest, helping them to make sure they were well looked after in the Community Centre, surrounded by warm and welcoming areas to enjoy.

I hope to bring these skills to Perron Place with the aim of providing a friendly and professional service to our regular and new hire space users."

Caitlin, Savannah and Ali are members of The Aussie TinkerBelles and are also clients of our sister brand VisAbility. They have been practicing so hard in their regular Saturday sessions that they have just clinched silver in an international competition.

Perron Place was buzzing last Friday as Blind Sports WA hosted their Let's Get Visible School Holiday Program. 😍

The children had a blast making new friends, baking lemon slice, and preparing tacos for lunch using adapted equipment like talking scales, tactile measuring cups, and colored chopping boards. They also enjoyed playing blind and vision impaired tennis, badminton, soccer, and grip ball. They also painted their own ceramic pots and made cards for their parents. Sounds like a fun day, right? 🎨🥘⚽

There are a couple of spaces left for the next Let's Get Visible Holiday program happening this Friday.

Perron Place will be home to the Blind Sports WA Lets Get Visible after school program! 🎉

The program is for children who are aged 5-15 living with low or no vision. It's a safe space for children to learn and develop fundamental gross motor skills. They will be exposed to a variety of blind sports and recreational activities which will increase their self-confidence, spatial awareness, physical and mental health through exercise, improve their social skills and provide a sense of belonging.

All equipment is provided.
This is an 8 week program running in Term 2, 2023
Commencing on: Wednesday 4th May and running every Wednesday until 21st June 2023
Time: 3:45pm - 5:00pm
Cost: $25.00

Thriving in Motion - Exercise for Young People are running free movement sessions!

The aim is to create a supportive, welcoming, accessible and inclusive group environment for young Trans and Gender Diverse people to experience various types of movement and explore ways exercise can support mental and physical health.

The 8 week mixed forms of exercise include boxing, dance, team games, outdoor activities and strength training. Which is developed by accredited exercise physiologists and members of the trans community.

Every Friday for 8 weeks at Perron Place from 4-5 pm.
