Lorna, one of our beloved residents hit an amazing milestone recently, celebrating an incredible 100 years! 🎂
The team at The Village and our Life's Possibilities program made sure she was showered with flowers, sweet cards and balloons. But her favourite prezzie? A pair of super cute sloth pyjamas!
To top it all off, Lorna received a very special card from none other than King Charles and Queen Camilla. Talk about a royal celebration!

We often take communication for granted, don't we?
But imagine if something as simple as stringing a sentence together became a challenge. Sadly, that's the reality for many of our residents and clients, making it hard to stay connected in life. That's where our incredible speechies come in, transforming lives one strategy at a time. 💬✨
Colleen Piantadosi, our Senior Speech Pathologist, is especially passionate about helping those with degenerative conditions like Huntington’s Disease.

We officially cut the ribbon for our new homes for people with Huntington's Disease at Piara Waters! 🏠
Carefully designed with input from our clients and brought to life with the help of KPA Architects and Dale Alcock Homes, this exciting facility is a huge step forward in providing a supportive place to call home for people living with Huntington's Disease.
A big thank you to Minister for Disability Services Don Punch MLA, Mayor Ruth Butterfield - City of Armadale, David Scaife MLA, and Colin Smith from Lotterywest for joining us on this special day.
We’d also like to acknowledge the Harken Family, Dr. Maria Kailis, Gavin Bunning and Family and the Rotary Southern Districts for their incredible support in making this campus a reality.
Thank you also to all who contributed to the design and development of these homes and also to our fabulous staff, clients and their families.
Our new campus is now open, and we can’t wait to see the positive impact it will have on those living with HD.

It was a wonderful and windy Wednesday at Curtin Heritage with Brightwater taking part in ABC Perth's outside broadcast for Aged Care Employee Day.
Our CEO Cath Stoddart paid tribute to the relentless dedication and care shown by aged care employees across the sector, with a diversity of people and roles all coming together to improve the lives of the elderly in our community.
One of our longest serving employees, Multi Skilled Care Worker Colleen Pastina, was also interviewed for the broadcast. A Brightwater employee for 46 years, Colleen spoke about the positive changes she has seen in her time and how rewarding it is to care for residents and become an honorary part of the family.

We're celebrating the purr-fect partners in our care homes, Angel at Oxford Gardens and Blue at Birralee.
Through our partnership with Cat Haven WA and their ‘Companion Cats in Residential Aged Care Facilities’ program, these feline friends bring joy and comfort to our residents every day.
Angel is not just a companion but also quite the office assistant! 😸
This Aged Care Employees Day, we'd like to say to our staff who work tirelessly to care for others.
From nurses and hotel services staff to chefs, social workers, allied health professionals, and beyond, your dedication and compassion help create a place that feels like home.
Take a moment to enjoy this short video that captures just a bit of the heart and soul behind the scenes. Thank you for everything you do!
What's life without dogs? Seriously!
Moccona made her rounds at The Cove and as usual, had everyone grinning from ear to ear.
Owned by our Allied Health Team Coordinator, Chelsea, this lovable pooch shows how a little furry companionship can brighten our residents' days.
With each visit, Moccona brings a touch of joy and comfort to their lives, one wagging tail at a time. 💛
A very happy 20th anniversary to our retirement village, Kingsway Court, in Madeley.
The enthusiasm and pride of our residents led to a glowing celebration that was likely visible from the International Space Station.
There was dancing, cheers, a three-tiered cake and a long list of guests including City of Wanneroo Mayor Linda Aitken and ward councillor Natalie Herridge, WA’s oldest man and former resident Gordon Ewers and our CEO Cath Stoddart.
It is terrific to see our vision of creating an inclusive and safe community still going strong after two decades.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Professor Robin Warren. At 87, Professor Warren leaves behind a remarkable legacy.
In 2005, he and Professor Barry Marshall won the Nobel Prize for discovering that the Helicobacter pylori bacterium causes most stomach ulcers. Professors Marshall and Warren’s discovery stands as a significant contribution to medical science and continues to inspire breakthroughs till today.
We sincerely appreciate the support from Professor Barry Marshall and The Marshall Centre at UWA for our video.
Professor Warren led a full and wonderful life, marked by his relentless pursuit of knowledge. We are privileged to have known Robin and to share his inspiring life story.
We'd like to share this memoir and pay tribute to his incredible achievements.

Connected by care
A friendly and inquisitive delegation of occupational therapists (OT) from Japan recently visited Brightwater to learn about the role of OTs in residential care.
The visit was both informative and inspiring, with one of the delegates remarking, “The way care is delivered is really great. It is great how we find out everything about the person and deliver activities that suit each person.”
The tour was a highlight for residents too who had a wonderful time meeting the special guests.
It's been the perfect weather for ducks...and ducking inside to make a cosy apple pie.
This apple pie shortcake was made with the help of housemates at Warnbro (including Des, pictured) and quickly devoured at their in-house 'coffee club'.
Warnbro is a supported community house for adults living with complex disabilities.
Nice work, Des and co! 🍎🥮
🥁 Drum roll, please... 🥁
What was once a storage space is now a fully functional Men's Shed at The Village in Inglewood! Residents can now enjoy woodworking, painting, and gardening with all the tools they need, thanks to Bunnings Bayswater and Karrinyup Community Men's Shed.
The opening day was a hit, with residents happily painting birdhouses guided by Kingsley from Karrinyup. Mayor Mark Irwin from City of Ctirling joined us to share a few words and cut the celebratory cake with CEO Cath, which everyone enjoyed together.
Monthly sessions at the Men's Shed will provide wonderful opportunities for residents to socialise, build skills, and increase their independence in a friendly and supportive environment. 🌻
Stay tuned for future updates!
Jenny had an amazing time at the Mirrabooka NAIDOC event, thanks to our Life’s Possibilities program! With the support of her care worker Amy, the highlight for Jenny was holding a snake 🐍 she couldn't stop raving about it! She was also pretty wrapped with the free hat she took home.
This experience allowed Jenny to connect with country and provided deep spiritual meaning, helping her live her authentic self. Her daughter was thrilled to see mum engaging with the community and celebrating cultural ties.
At Brightwater, we love creating moments that let our residents embrace their true selves.
Brightwater's Capacity Building team pulled off a miracle plan to move Leon, Julian and Kai into a Specialist Disability Accommodation home, all within the same day!
These three men, each with highly complex disabilities, had previously been unable to make day-to-day decisions like what to eat, when to shower and when to go to bed. They had lost hope, with nobody to advocate for them.
Thanks to our dedicated team, their lives have been transformed.
Discover how their lives changed for the better in this inspiring video. 🎥✨
When you think of exercise, walking or running might spring to mind, but there's also another fun form we often forget... Dancing! 💃
Thanks to our Life's Possibilities program, residents at The Oaks enjoyed ballroom fit classes, where skilled dancers helped teach all the moves.
These classes not only bring residents together but also enhance heart health, mobility, strength, and more. Plus, they're a fantastic way to relieve stress!

Dolores is a shining light within our disability community.
Her story resonates deeply with this year's NAIDOC theme, which celebrates the spirit of communities and amplifies voices that have long been silenced.
Dolores’ resilience and strength continues to inspire us all.
Thanks to the Life’s Possibilities grant program, Colin Wedd from The Cove had the incredible experience of attending an AFL game at Optus Stadium recently, where he watched his beloved Freo Dockers win against the Gold Coast Suns! 🏉
