✅Stand up desks ✅

We are huge proponents for sit to stand desks, they are a great way to keep the muscles of the legs and core engaged during work hours.

A study done in 2022 even showed that stand biased desks improved the attention and cognitive performance amongst elementary students! (wallace et al., 2022)

❌ HEADACHES ❌

Headaches are incredibly common in the adult population and are something we diagnose and treat regularly. Because there are so many types of headaches, it is important to have your headache assessed and managed by a relevant health professional.

Tension type headaches are estimated by many to be the most common type. These headaches are often described as a mild to moderate band like pressure around the head.

They are often caused by muscles and joints of the head, neck and jaw, therefore Chiro is a great option.

Stretch AND strengthen 💪🏼

Here is Tom going through some shoulder rehab, we often encourage strengthening to be done in conjunction with stretching for problematic areas.

As a general rule of thumb, if your rehab is worsening your symptoms to 4/10 or more, it’s worth finding a different movement that doesn’t aggravate the complaint to the same degree.

This is general advice and we recommend following the instructions of your healthcare practitioner.

✅Tip 2/4 to look after your lower back - “Manage load”✅

Managing load is about exercise or movement optimisation. If you have pain, it is usually best to stay active but change the type or way you exercise. This change is only for the short term while you get on top of the complaint. Complete rest is rarely the best option!

✅Top tips to keep your back healthy✅

Expanding on our last post with our number one tip being “move”…

You may hear it from us a lot but our bodies need movement to function well. The list of benefits from regular exercise is quite literally too big to add to this post. However on the topic of spinal health, regular exercise helps to build and maintain muscle, stability and control of the spine. Movement lubricates the spinal joints, allowing them to move more freely and conditions the joints to be more resilient to load. It also promotes blood circulation to all of the soft tissues and bone in the spine. The list goes on.

The best form of exercise is the type you do regularly. It is a personal decision and we all enjoy it in different forms, so finding a type of exercise that suits your lifestyle, interests and body is important.
