Tonight we hang up our towels on a phenomenal season of The Pool by Steve Rodgers, presented in association with Perth Festival 💦🎧

For just over two weeks, audiences have sat poolside at Bold Park Aquatic Centre, listening in to the lives of the characters that frequent the pool. It has been a true celebration of community, full of nostalgia and joy, and it has been a pleasure to share it with so many. 💙✨

Huge congratulations to the cast and creative team on an incredible season. Putting on theatre at a pool is definitely a challenge, but they truly kicked it out of the (Bold) park! 😉

We'd like to give special thanks to Bold Park Aquatic and our wonderful season partners, Water Corporation and Town of Cambridge for their unwavering support in helping us bring The Pool to life. We have loved working with you all!

And finally, thank you to YOU, our audience, for immersing yourself in The Pool (quite literally for those who did the aqua aerobics!) It's been an experience like no other and one we won't forget 🥰

It feels like everything has come full circle for this self-titled album. The songs written for the stage production, Hecate, the songs from Noongar Wonderland and the work for Kronos Quartet are consolidated in their most distilled form. They’ve been waiting to be sung and they gather momentum with every repetition.

These songs in Noongar are connected to our landscapes and grounded in place.

They were all tracked live in the studio and are mostly first or second takes with improvised structures. After rehearsing for Song Circle, percussionist Arunachala and I are really in synch rhythmically and wanted to reflect the energy and spontaneity of live performance.

I’ve dreamed of singing songs in Noongar for many years. I hope you all enjoy listening to these ones for many years to come.

You can learn the dances to most of these tracks this week at SONG CIRCLE. We will be performing live 4 - 8 October.
