Short in time frame but massive in reward!
Some of the blessings of Al-Duha prayer 💎
Anas bin Malik narrated that the Messenger of Allah said: “Whoever prays Fajr in congregation, then sits remembering Allah until the sun has risen, then he prays two Rak’ah, then for him is the reward like that of a Hajj and Umrah.” He said: “The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Complete, complete, complete.'” (at-Tirmidhi, 586)
Abu Huraira reported: My dear friend the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, advised me to do three deeds and I will never abandon them until I die: to fast three days of every month, to perform forenoon prayer, and to sleep after performing the witr prayer.
Source: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 1178, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 721
Abu Dharr reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Upon every one of your joints in the morning is charity due. Every glorification of Allah is charity. Every praise of Allah is charity. Every declaration of the oneness of Allah is charity. Every exaltation of Allah is charity. Enjoining good and forbidding evil is charity. It is enough of that to perform two cycles of prayer in the forenoon.”

Posted • How do we teach our remembrance and dhikr?
A good place to start is by reciting dua’as throughout the day. This not only teaches remembrance but it activates a sense of mindfulness in children. It grounds them and reminds them that they can turn to Allah for everything throughout the day.
As children become more aware of Allah, reciting dua’as helps them stay in conversation with Him.
Recite these dua’as with your Little Muslims and explain the translation to them at their level so they understand why we turn to Allah (apart from prayer).
Posted • Do you sometimes feel anxious and panicky?
hey, you're not alone - we know the prophets also felt scared.
So here's what I do when it happens to me:
[1] Do Dhikr - when you're scared the heart races, you can even hear it in your head.
To calm it down, Allah taught us to do dhikr.
Say subhan Allah, alhamdulillah, Allahu akbar. As much as you can.
[2] Recite Quran out loud.
The best Dhikr is Quran. Added tip: when you recite Quran at a tempered (think Abdulbasit Abdulsammad), it will regulate your breathing and further calm you down.
[3] Have tawakkul (trust in Allah)
In preparing this list, I started trying to put more trust in Allah.
When I go to bed at night, anxious about something, I say to myself:
O Allah, I’m handing this off to you. You take care of it.
And then I sleep peacefully.
Allah says in Quran, "And whoever places their trust in Allah, Allah will be all they need"
[4] Istighfar - seek forgiveness from Allah A LOT!
When you feel anxious, do like 10 or 100 Istighfar. Astaghfirullah. Like that.
The Prophet ﷺ said, “If anyone constantly seeks forgiveness (from Allah), Allah will make a way out for him from every distress and grant relief from every anxiety.” [Abu Dawud]

I was either teary-eyed or full-blown weeping through most of this book. Sometimes for Asmaa and Amr’s love story, sometimes for the conviction of their faith in Allah (and for lack of mine) and sometimes at the thought of Ruqaya looking at her baba’s picture. I don’t know how you did it Asmaa, you you didn’t make it sound easy. In fact, you made sure you told just how incredibly hard every day has been. Yet, you made it so evident that as believers, our lives could be so much easier if truly put our trust in Allah. I could feel your pain through your words but then you’d mention one verse from the Quran and leave me in awe of your perspective towards life. Your absolute surrender to Allah’s Qadr is a treasure you left me longing to attain. You left me wondering how someone who’s gone through one of the biggest tribulations anyone can go through in this world continues to practice tawakkul at its best.
In a world where our faith is so easily shaken by the slightest of changes in our life plans and the smallest of hurdles towards achieving our goals, ‘A Temporary Gift’ dissects the mindset of a believer dealing with immense trauma. Seeing Asmaa live through the pain and darkness of her loss would’ve felt nothing short of a miracle but having marvelled at her husband’s life and absorbing her thought process made me see how Allah Blesses His special people with the ultimate power of faith. Faith in its purest, truest form. Absolute unshakeable trust in the Allah’s wisdom. The kind that many of us only wish to achieve.
I feel like it’s a book I can read from many perspectives. As a beautiful love story, as a spiritually uplifting read and as a strong reminder of the fragility of life.

A Place of Refuge by Asmaa Hussein
l was going through something and I was moved to pick this book up. Ever since then, I was engrossed and completed it within days! It’s a continuation of “A Temporary Gift”. After losing her husband, the author went for hajj and sought healing through her connection with Allah.
“Instead of trying to overcome pain, what if we accepted every emotion that came our way? What if we stopped asking, “How does one overcome grief?” and instead asked, “How does one grow and thrive in grief?””
There’s numerous reminders from the Qur’an, the sayings from Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, the stories of the Prophets AS and the people of the past to strengthen our faith and truly, grow through what we go through.
Needless to say, this book is a treasure and one I’d re-read again so I can internalise the wisdoms and use them as a means to go through my own set of difficulties in life.
“When my life isn’t going perfectly, I remind myself that it’s not supposed to. I’m supposed to have tests. I’m going to lose people I love and money I’ve earned. I’ll get sick or become heartbroken. All that shouldn’t take me away from Allah—it should bring me closer to understanding that having a perfect life isn’t my purpose on this earth. Perfection is my reward with Allah in the hereafter.”
I tagged so many pages! MashaAllah! 5/5⭐️

Book review by and …............................................................
👂🏼I love that children's books these days have much more variety when it comes to representation of characters of different races and religious compared to when I was a kid. One of my recent favourites is Resilient Rida and the Cochlear Implant, written by my good friend Manal 😊
👂🏼Rida finds out that his friend's baby brother has been diagnosed with a hearing loss that can only be corrected with a cochlear implant, which is going to be extremely costly. So Rida and Panda decide to help raise funds. After much brainstorming, hard work, prayer and some advice from his UmUmmah (the word used by most Sri Lankan Muslims to refer to the maternal grandmother), Rida and Panda finally manage to achieve their goal.
👂🏼 There are so many things I love about this book:
💕 Panda, who brings a lot o humour to the story.
💕 The UmUmmah, who is probably the very first one to appear in a children's book 😁 and all the sage advice she has to impart.
💕 How the story manages to seamlessly incorporate concepts that a lot of children may not be very familiar with like hearing problems, cochlear implants and audiologists.
💕 The illustrations! 😍 Swipe to get a peek at the inside of the book.
💕 An introduction to two of the names of Allah. This is the first time I've come across an Islamic children's book focusing on Allah's names and it's a great way to get children (and adults!) to better appreciate and remember these names. I'm looking forward to more books like this one, Manal, so you better get to work soon!😋
New Arrival! So excited!!!
Presenting this amazing and unique new book - written by Shaykh Furqan Jabbar
‘Dagar - The Desert Hawk’
Born and raised in the US, Dagar is new to the Muslim faith and a wanted soldier trained by the special unit “Desert Hawks”.
When he finds out his teacher has been killed, Dagar heads to Damascus, Syria - where it all happened. There he discovers the Brotherhood of Baal, led by a mysterious masked man known as Ishbaal.
Can Dagar stop them from summoning an evil bent on war and destruction?
Book reviews:
Asiyah, 12 years old
"If you enjoy adventure and mystery books, "Dagar" is for you! This graphic novel captivated me and I really enjoyed it. "Dagar" is my favorite islamic comic and I can't wait for vol.2!
This book is a must read, keep you on the edge of your seat sort of book that I absolutely loved. Join Dagar in his quest to find the murderer of his teacher and catch him once and for all!"
Shaykh Saalim Mauladawila,
(Staff Member at Sirat College)
The need to create Muslim alternatives for available mass media is often spoken about, but what Shaykh Furqan Jabbar has accomplished with Dagar the Desert Hawk is far greater.
Dagar isn't so much a "Muslim alternative", but a work whose standard of quality of universe, narrative, and illustration warrants it being regarded by these merits against the established titles.
Dagar the Desert Hawk doesn't plead for your consideration because it pays lip service to Islamic themes; it is a work that demands to be regarded in its own right as a piece of quality fiction that is also grounded in the Islamic spirit.
Available in Australia from www.sakeenabooks.com.au (free shipping for orders above $59) and don’t forget to use code BOOKS20 to get 20%... ‘This is Love’ by Dr published by
No one understands love better than the One who created it. He knows how much we need it and how it can be nurtured. He sent His Books and Prophets to teach us what love is so we can love Him and each other. And He warned us against distorted and toxic love. Islam is the handbook of love. It is the best, fastest, and most comprehensive way to it.
This book presents the Islamic message of love through forty hadiths on loving Allah, His Prophet, and His creation. It explains the indispensability of divine love in human existence, the centrality of love in Islam, and the means to attain and spread love on earth. It also clarifies common misunderstandings about love in Islam, affirming that Islam is the religion of love par excellence.
Dr. Ali Albarghouthi obtained his Masters in Educational Psychology and in Religious Studies and received his PhD in Waterloo-Wilfrid Laurier University. He is a former professor at the University of Saskatchewan and is currently the Director of the Institute for Muslim Research and Progress.

Title: Sitti's Olive Trees
Author: Ndaa Hassan
Illustrator: Soumbal Qureshi
Publisher:
Age: 3-8
🌟
Islamic Content: visibly Muslim characters
🌟
Concerns: None
🌟
Summary:
When Reema asks her grandmother why she rubbed olive oil on her hair, this sparks a discussion of the value that olive oil holds for Sitti. She fondly narrates her childhood memories as she reminisces about her family and the historic tradition of olive trees in the villages of Palestine.
🌟
Review:
The deeply rooted tradition of olive harvesting is beautifully portrayed in this picture book through Sitti's narration. It is obvious that the sweet interaction between grandmother and granddaughter set the tone of the storyline. Cultural gems are cleverly placed throughout the pages in the gorgeous illustrations. This book also provides factual information about olive trees and olive oil. The rich cultural tradition of olive tree harvesting is emphasized to be a generational tradition of its people and connects Reema to her family roots. While Islam is not at the center of this book, the women are shown to wear traditional Pa!estini@n dresses with hijab. There nothing about the current realities happening in P@lest!ne, this book can spark a gentle discussion about why Reema cannot visit her family's olive trees in their homeland. Finally, it concludes with a hopeful tone in the story that one day she will visit. Definitely glad I have added this book to our bookshelf.

Sitti’s Olive trees by , author of the books and ‘The Most Powerful Night’
- “Sittis Olive Trees” is a gorgeous picture book which celebrates culture and family.
Reema enjoys seeing her Sitti (grandmother) make hummus and drizzle olive oil on top. Her grandmother than gently rubs in some olive oil in Reema’s hair sparking a conversation around ‘zeit zaiytoun’ and how some of the best olive oil comes from Palestine.
Reema’s Sitti takes the reader down memory lane, to a time which was beautiful and peaceful, when olive trees were planted, and life was celebrated. The time of olive harvesting.
From picking all the beautiful olives to sorting them, to enjoying the simple pleasures of life with family and community, Sitti recalls her childhood.
Simple pleasures which brought great joys.
I could not help but look at sanasil (stone walls built by the villagers to keep the trees firmly planted and tall) as a symbolism of the faith, which is the foundation for the Palestinian people.
Just like the people who plant it, the olive tree sets its roots deep and strong and grows through hardship with resilience.
The illustrations are simply gorgeous, heartwarming and so detailed.
My favorite illustration is in the middle of the book, where the beautiful, sturdy olive tree provides shade and cover for all beneath it. Protecting all those that nurtured it with love.
Illustrator Soumbal Qureshi has brought the culture of the land alive through her drawings.
Sitti’s home is considered to have some of the most ancient olive trees, they are part of their heritage and identity.
A heritage she wants to pass on to Reema, when one day she too can go back to her land and plant an olive tree.
Written by Ndaa Hassan, “Sittis Olive Trees” is a book that will pull at your heart, show you the beauty of a culture which has been marred by violence, narrate to you the strength of its people and how values and traditions carry so much meaning and love.

Juz 28: Reflections (Al-Mujadalah:11)
The most honourable people near Allah are those who have Iman, and among them, it is the people of knowledge who have higher ranks.
The more you rise in knowledge, the more you rise near Allah.
Ibn al-Qayyim (rh) said, “The best that the souls have acquired, and that the hearts have obtained, and that with which the slave has attained prestige in this world and the hereafter is knowledge and faith. And for that, the Exalted has combined them in His saying, 'But those who were given knowledge and faith will say, “You remained the extent of Allāh’s decree until the Day of Resurrection...”' [al-Rum:56] And His saying, ‘Allāh will raise those who have believed among you and those who were given knowledge, by degrees.'” [al-Mujadilah:11]" [al-Fawaid]
The path of knowledge is the path to Jannah:
The Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “Whoever travels a path in search of knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise.” [Muslim]
Reward of Hajj:
The Prophet (saw) said, “Whoever leaves for the masjid in the morning, for no reason but to learn goodness or teach others, he will have a reward as if he has completed the Hajj pilgrimage.” [At-Targhib]
Forgiveness:
The Prophet (saw) said, “The inhabitants of the heavens and earth, even the fish in the depths of the water, seek forgiveness for the one of knowledge.” [Abu Dawud]
Honour:
The Prophet (saw) said, “No one leaves their house in search of knowledge but that angels will lower their wings in approval of what he is doing.” [Ibn Majah]
Continuous charity:
The Prophet (saw) said, “Indeed, from the deeds that meet a believer after his death are: knowledge that he taught and spread, a righteous child he leaves behind, a copy of Quran (mushaf) that he leaves as an inheritance, a masjid that he builds, a house that he builds for travelers, a canal that he digs, and charity that he spent from his wealth during his lifetime when he was in good health. These deeds will reach him after his death.” [Al-Targhib]
Eid Mubarak lovelies.
Taqabbal Allahu Minna Waminkum
(May Allah accept from you and us)
May Allah accept our good deeds, keep us safe and protected, cure the sick among us, send help to our brothers and sisters who are oppressed in many parts of the world and elevate the hardship of those who are suffering. May we leave this Ramadan becoming better Muslims than we were before Ramadan and may we get to meet the next Ramadan..
Allahumma Ameen
