If you have a child in primary school, chances are you will have to organise a book week costume.
Don’t leave it to the last minute! We are here to help.

It wasn’t the global Microsoft failure that closed us but the phenomenal crime writer Michael Robotham! We’re closing an hour early today but will be open as normal Saturday morning for all your bookish needs.

I’ve noticed more and more people coming in to buy travel guides and maps, which is awesome… for the rest of us, books will take you anywhere you want to go.

Stealth visit from former cricketer and now sportswriter and local author Barry Nicholls today who kindly signed his book Establishment Boys about the 1977-79 cricket teams. A perfect gift for Fathers Day (it’s less than 6 weeks!).

Dymocks Subiaco was visited by local author Annie de Monchaux whose book ‘Audrey’s Gone AWOL’ is a pure delight. For people who feel invisible, those who have given their best years to someone who didn’t deserve it, and anyone who has considered packing it all in and running away to the French countryside?

Dymocks Subiaco was proud to be present at the launch of brand new book Breaking Pointe at the Subiaco Library. The kids loved the dance lessons and cupcakes while I was excited to meet cover artist who designed the beautiful art for both books. Congratulations Chenee!

Two beautiful new releases for children and young adults by West Australian authors.

Have you ever wondered about the different sizes of books and what they’re called?

At the bottom on this lovely stack of books we have a standard fiction hardcover. For big titles (ie big name authors), this is often what is released first and you will pay a premium for the extra size and sturdiness. They usually have a dust cover and look very pretty on your bookshelf.

Second from the bottom is what is called a Trade paperback. It’s large format (so you don’t have to squint), used typically for novels and non-fiction and it usually arrives after the Hardcover but before the smaller mass market paperback.

The mass market paperback (third from the bottom) is what fills most bookshops (and airports). They’re cheaper than your Trade paperback and plenty of titles are released straight into this compact format.

Finally, you have the dinky little book on top, also known as the ‘pocket’ size. They’re not very common for novels but this one is a re-issue of the ever popular Bridgerton series and clearly designed to pop into your reticule or m**f.

We can’t read every book in the shop so we also depend on reviews from customers, so pop back in and let us know when you love a book (especially if we suggested it for you).

Recently we had a visit from local author .allum celebrating the launch of her debut novel, The Skeleton House. We got the swords out. 🗡️🗡️
