Nigel Hewitt’s new series of landscape paintings captures the dynamic interplay of light and shadow in an ever-changing environment. Painted on-site and from memory at Signal Hall in Tasmania, these small-scale works reflect the artist’s deep connection to his surroundings, the shifting natural conditions, and the profound impact of human presence on nature.

Paul Uhlmann contemplates transient, often imperceptible processes that unfold all around us but are often overlooked as we rush through our hectic lives. The quest is to create images of beauty and impermanence, compiling a catalogue of invisible forms and contemporary vanitas – of dissolving clouds, smoke and decaying flowers.

Regional Tour // Toni Wilkinson: Tough Pleasures • Albany Town Hall, 19 July - 31 August
Art Collective WA in collaboration with the City of Albany Arts and Culture presents Toni Wilkinson's acclaimed series of domestic portraits, which reinterprets the often conflicted dynamics of femininity and food.
Revisiting the 2003 series that launched her early career in contemporary art photography, Wilkinson adds new works almost two decades later that meditate on complex themes of femininity, the absurd, desire, and ongoing debates around photography and art in an ever-expanding visual culture.
Join Toni Wilkinson for an artist talk in the Town Hall gallery at 11am, Saturday 20th July.

Join us from 2-3pm on Saturday 13 July for a relaxed floor talk with our current exhibiting artists, led by curator and writer Paola Anselmi.
The talk will delve into their exhibitions Noise in This Silence and Searching for Memories, Searching for Kindness, as well as their individual practices.
Congratulations to Trevor Vickers who has been shortlisted for the 2024 Geelong Contemporary Art Prize 👏
Trevor was selected from a competitive field of applicants, with only 31 finalists among over 560 entries.
Painted in 2022, the work Untitled (pictured), continues Trevor's six decade study of hard-edged abstraction.
One of the most highly regarded artists in Western Australia, Trevor's works were exhibited in the seminal 1968 exhibition The Field at the National Gallery of Victoria, as well as the 2018 The Field Revisited.
〰️The Geelong Contemporary Art Prize exhibition is showing at Geelong Gallery from 10 August to 3 November.

Olga Cironis' latest exhibition Noise in This Silence, now showing at Art Collective WA, presents a symphony of violins, wrapped in institutional grey blankets.
According to the artist, the works are a metaphor for both loss and survival, and the desire for a better world amidst global conflicts and looming environmental chaos.

Sydney Contemporary // We're delighted to be presenting new works by five exceptional Western Australian artists at this year's fair from 5-8 September.
Titled "Vantage Point", the exhibition explores the essence of WA's diverse natural landscapes through the lenses of Jon Tarry, Merrick Belyea, Jo Darbyshire, Antony Muia and Kevin Robertson.
Each work will tell a story of the land’s raw beauty, exploring its rivers, oceans, deserts, and ancient geological formations, while interrogating our often-complex relationship with the natural world.

In this deeply personal exhibition, Anne Neil showcases a series of intricate sculptures, inspired by a period of introspection where she found solace in the shifting patterns of tree branches seen from her window.
Drawing on her background in jewellery making and her reverence for handcrafted techniques, Neil’s delicate sculptures transform abstract shapes and fragmented memories into durable, tangible forms, symbolising the intersection of thought and matter.

Depicting harsh rural landscapes and urban streetscapes infused with elements of spiritualism and the absurd, Robert Gear's new series of paintings explore concepts of time, memory and nostalgia.

Tony Windberg's exhibition Time Lines showcases the artist's characteristically meticulous painting process 🖌️
In depicting the geological formations of Albany's coastline, Windberg applies layers of earth pigments, which are gradually eroded through a mix of methods from engraving to sanding.
Exposed are landscapes of stone, seemingly permanent yet geologically fleeting, revealing a world constantly on edge.

An exhibition which depicts the craggy shoreline and cliff faces Albany in Western Australia, which were once joined with Antarctica.
Through his rich geological drawings, blending realism with abstraction, the artist eludes to a world constantly in flux.

Pictured is Sarah's winning work, 390 Acts of Love. Commenting on how this work and her practice resonate with the 2024 theme of 'Refocus', the artist said:
"During a time of personal re-focus after grief and loss I felt the importance of making each part of my practice an intentional act of remembrance, love and gratitude."
The work, with its assemblage of tiny plant parts and gifted metal pieces, commemorates the fragments of time, memory and love collected over one's lifetime.
