Another massive couple of weeks spent on the GMC.
Got the bonnet mounted on its billet hinges and new firewall mounts .
Made the dash a bolt in item.
Started on building the custom tray .
Icv monaro got some new modified front guards this week .
Due to the ride height and the massive 315 on 10"front wheels I've had to lift the entire wheel opening 33mm and in turn re hand hammer form the factory flare to meet up again.
Got thrown a massive curve ball on the icv monaro, the owner wanted to switch from the samsonas sequential gearbox to an 8speed auto.
My heat sank thinking I've designed everything around the engine and box but luckily it fits no problem with some small mods to come on the tunnel. So it got a new custom xmember that uses the factory rubber mount then I started on tubing out the front end with a removable rad support panel that holds the intercooler, ac condensor and radiator.
I just love this rig can't wait till it's finished.
If there was one good thing to take away being an elite level show car judge for the years I did, it was to not be biased and appreciate what's in front of you no matter the make or model
Fabbed up engine and box mounts for the hellcat into the charger. Now it's off to Metal Obsession for the panel work
Last few jobs done on the GMC for a few weeks .
Shaped up a filler panel and grafted the wipper pockets in, mounted the ac . Set up new wipper motor then put the cab back on the chassis and fitted all the font end , doors , pedal box and booster.
The vision is starting to come together.
Massive push on the GMC cab from a bare bones cab to ready to put back on the chassis. Still a bit to do inside on the next round
What a massive push on the GMC cab from a bare bones cab to ready to put back on the chassis .sill a bit to do inside next round.
Boss says you must have hearing protection when working with new machines.
Hopefully we can step up our game a little better with this rig
3" system built for Andrew's big block 70 dodge charger
More GMC stuff.
Mounted the brake pedal and booster modified it aswell of course.
Started on all the sheetmetal for the cab .
Here is the follow up post of the dash finished and sitting in place .
Made a dash for the GMC. Still not finished I'll post Moe when I'm done
The GMC need a dash conversion so I made one . From a flat sheet to this . Still not finished .I'll post more next week
Just when you thought the 80s were dead in a world full of slammed massive billets there's this 🤣.
I mock up built this a few years ago now and it's back for a full drive line and suspension fit up.
Rob wanted an 80s looking capri and he got it 👌
It runs a complete Au tickford xr8 driveline
Another mega build under way.
There's alot of time involved just to get to this stage but here goes.
I'm not even going to try explain the amount of work and mods in this front bumper and top mould to make one piece, mount them and get it ready for chrome but basically every bit has been chopped , trimmed, re shaped, repaired, tig welded and smoothed.
It won't even let me post all the pictures of the mods 🤣 .anyway it wasn't easy and very time consuming , also modified and mounted the heat exchanger to the custom rad support panel .
RAT A TAT
Came in for new tail pies , set up the wilwood brakes n lines & a complete fuel system . Getting ready for a return to the street.
Possibly one of if not the most iconic Holden ute for WA street machine history and still looks amazing. This ute and my xw ute used to battle it out on the show scene for many years mostly competing for top utility, top grafiix , top street machine.
Man I wish I never stripped my ute back to bare metal 😫.
This was different.
With only a picture of what he was after and a donor bonnet to chop up I cut the guts out of one bonnet re shaped and lengthened it then got it to sit spot on before cutting and welding to the good one and no distortion to it at all .
Mission accomplished!
Here's a little look and detail that goes into making my reverse cowls and custom scoops like this one for a big block xa .
Just need to finalise the profile then it's time to weld it on
All this takes alot of time ,experience and tools, you don't just click a mouse and it arrives you actually have to pay for someone's time, skillset machines etc etc etc
Ps No Chinese people were used or harmed in the making of this product 😄
Jim's f100 all done .
Re fabed front chassis with full fg suspension and coilovers.
Rear notched rails, fg ute diff .
Xr6 turbo barra, zf 6 speed auto
First one for the year
Andrews supper cool gr**go machine in for a full custom stainless exhaust
Last bit of work on the icv monaro for the year .
Firewall and smoothed out plenum done.
Tesla electric booster & master mounted and linked up to the custom pedal box. Converted the master cylinder to remote reservoir and mounted with the clutch also
The icv ht monaro came off the chassis table today so I thought I'd show some underside before I spend loads of time doing all the boring under dash stuff no one cares about 🤣
Been doing some work on the icv ht monaro
Update work on the GMC.
Cab has been re mounted on a new custom frame,
Front sheet metal has been mounted on all new fabed mounts,
Custom made rad support panel that also mounts the radiator, ac condensor and super charger cooler along with the new bonnet latch and support,
Modified underside of the bonnet with a new stricker to suit the bear claw
A hand made front valance panel to tie the fenders together
Tank frame fabed and mounted
90L tank made and mounted and fuel lines ( filler yet to be fitted)
Well that's it for the hr wagon . Man this job just kept getting bigger and bigger till I've pretty much done everything aside from plumbing the fuel and oil system .
Now the hard task to find someone good to do the bodywork ready for paint .
I've done quite a few jag ifs units in slammed f trucks over the years but I've never been asked to convert one from 4x4 to 2wd and shove a coyote in it .
Owner wanting to keep the wheel and tyre combo too.
🤣
