Blackwall Legal were proud to sponsor the The Pirate Ship Foundation's 2023 "Governors vs Pirates" Ultimate Backyard Cricket match at Government House yesterday in support of treatment advances for childhood brain cancer.

In a recent case in the WA Court of Appeal, it was confirmed that abandonment of proceedings by a bankruptcy trustee does not automatically terminate the proceedings, and that once the proceedings are ultimately dismissed by order of the court, a personal costs order against a bankrupt is not discharged or extinguished in the bankruptcy. Blackwall Special Counsel Jonathan Shepherd appeared and led our team acting for the successful respondents.

Blackwall Legal would like to congratulate
Coda Minerals Ltd (ASX:COD) on its successful acquisition of Torrens Mining Limited by way of off-market takeover bid.

Coda secured acceptances for 91% of Torrens shares on issue under its takeover offer, enabling it to compulsorily acquire the remaining Torrens shares on 2 June 2022.

The acquisition represents a significant strategic milestone for Coda by consolidating 100% ownership of the highly prospective Elizabeth Creek Copper Project, located in South Australia.

Blackwall’s corporate team, led by Hamish Taylor and Ailyn Tydde, together with Will Haslam and Natasha Clay, were delighted to work on this transaction with Chris Stevens, Kudzai Mtsambiwa, Katrina Seatter and the rest of Coda’s board and management, alongside Matt Davies and Geoff Bannister of Coda’s financial advisors, Taylor Collison.
