this month Creative Australia announced the 35 participants of it's new creative leadership cohort, including none other than pvi's Kelli Mccluskey!

this professional development program (of workshops, peer-to-peer mentoring, keynote presentations, resources and knowledge sharing) is designed to support artists and creative workers - from various career stages and artforms - to enact transformative change. 💫

earlier this year, pvi kelli was invited to the 4th australia-singapore arts group cultural leaders’ forum, hosted by singapore's Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth - MCCY.

kelli joined major australian and singaporean cultural leaders, practitioners and policy makers in the arts, culture and creative economy, discussing emerging sector trends, issues and opportunities, saying "it's so important to make space for artist voices at international events like this where future policy challenges are raised and debated."

"co-chairing the arts and sustainability session with the National Gallery Singapore's senior director, our round table had some great discussions on amplifying climate science across the arts and through creative practice, questioning how we develop international strategic approaches between australia and singapore - what we can learn from each other and how we can support each other." - kelli

it was also fab catching up with our 戏剧盒 Drama Box pals at these discussions.
pre-covid, dramabox and pvi colluded on a peer-to-peer provocatuering experiment of 'gifting' each other works in development, asking "what would you do next if this were your project?" - a creative & cultural exchange of fascinating insight we learned loads from and a model we'll hopefully continue to develop.

thanks to AusGov Office for the Arts for the pic and making our representation at this event possible.

team pvi have commenced work on the collective's next major immersive arts experience.

set in the not-too-distant future, it's designed to turn despair into hope when it comes to the climate emergency, by testing participants' limits of activism in the public realm.

stay tuned for updates, rebels. we can't wait to share this one with you...

😎 in the meantime, if you'd like to help us realise next year's plans, hit bit.ly/pviextraordinary for your piece of future (& we'll even send you a limited edition artwork* as thanks).

*for donations over 25 dollars to pvi collective's creative development fund 🫶 though any amount is gratefully received in our 25th year of making art that matters and >2 is tax-deductible.

🪙 it’s time to take stock – literally.
in pvi collective's 25th year of 'making art that matters', we're asking fans of creative disruption to help ensure our 26th year and beyond.

wa’s preeminent rabble rousing creative cohort exists to harness art's potential to affect positive societal change.
🙏 if you’re a fan of challenging the status quo to propel the changes we all want to see in the world, we need you to purchase a stake in next year’s artistic works of dissent designed to do just that. more than ever, your small change can have a big impact.

so forget the all ordinaries and invest in the extra ordinary, i.e. everything we do (from darkly playful physical challenges to immersive wearables, street-based activations & more).
✨ as well as a rush of good feelings, you’ll get a unique ‘share certificate’ (limited ed. artwork) for any tax-deductable donation >25 dollars to one of pvi’s 5 creative pillars or ‘share portfolios’: 📈 play 📈 hope 📈 disruption 📈 failure 📈 revolution.
🫶 your support will enable us to employ independent creatives in making new works exploring radically hopeful futures for the human race.
🙌 end the year on a high - donate to pvi at givenow.com.au/pvicollectiveextraordinary

shoutout to pvi's newest company artist Daisy for her recently completed residency at PICA - Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts - developing a passion project 8 years in the making, that brings together dance, theatre and sound artists.
a resting mess "promises profound joy and depth and care and messy, glorious rest for all. it wrestles, questions and proposes a tonic of playful togetherness in these collapsing times." - daisy
we're ecstatic to see this exploration of human & planetary fatigue grow from a 2017 kiss club snippet to a large scale performance installation for presentation later this year. 🙌

have you heard - the extra ordinary stock market is a new way to invest in the arts, specifically, wa’s preeminent creative disruptors pvi collective.

june is the perfect time to take stock of australia's creative economy and invest in your local arts' future by securing limited available shares in pvi's extra ordinary (how we do what we do) portfolios: 🔴 play 🟤 disruption 🟡 hope 🔵 failure 🟠 revolution.

every investment over 2 dollars is tax deductible. investments >25 dollars receive share certificate/s in the form of limited edition artworks. all will go towards making art happen in boorloo and beyond this coming year.

✨ so forget the all ordinaries, invest in the extra ordinary. visit givenow.com.au/pvicollectiveextraordinary or pvi's website today.

disclaimer: the use of terms ‘stock market', ‘investment’ and ‘shares’ are purely conceptual. your ‘cash asset’ is a donation to the pvi collective fund (abn 28 128 698 831) for which you'll receive good feels from helping pvi continue to make a meaningful and sustainable postitive impact on our cultural landscape.

"there is no choice anymore. we have to do things differently and we have to do it better."
- oral mcguire
🖤💛❤️
oral's cross-cultural work as a noongar leader, mentor and educator promotes traditional knowledge sharing, particularly when it comes to sustainability.
the first nations' perspective was vital to the development of our performance work 'eaters' and oral's passionate contribution to it never fails to move our audience.
while our work featuring oral isn't currently touring, Black Magic Woman recently had a chat with him which you can listen to at bit.ly/bmwep143oral .
after the referendum heartbreak of 2023, we hope more australians than ever take some time to engage with first nations australians this reconciliation week and - if you don't know - find out why this period (27 may - 3 june) is important. a good place to start is Reconciliation WA. 🫶

pvi's delighted to welcome boorloo based musician and arts administrator Patricia Alessi as our new business manager. 🙌

originally from boston, patricia is a seasoned practitioner, having worked across the perth sector. she is dedicated to amplifying diverse voices in the arts. in fact, her background as a voice coach means everything vocal is her jam.

lucky for us, she also loves coordinating calendars, budgets, and checking off a ’to do’ list, so we're looking forward to patricia helping pvi get (more) sh*t done!

🍹 here's to sharing many of her fave tipple (lemon, lime & bitters - dyk it's not a thing in the u.s.?!) with our new biz guru... 👩‍💼

Photos from pvi collective's post 17/05/2024

✨ flashback to ispa congress 2024 held in perth earlier this month - a week focused on new international models of evolutionary and revolutionary artistic and industry breakthroughs.

thanks to those who joined in pvi Kelli's breakout panel on the ethics of arts partnerships - a lively session on where we draw the line re what we will and won't support and who supports us; how to be lead by your ethical compass (with a focus on fossil fuels and climate change); how arts workers & artists can raise their voices in this contested space; and the tools available to agitate for change.

we look forward to continuing these conversations and growing connections with past, present & future comrades ✊

pvi collective are delighted to welcome boorloo based multidisciplinary artist Daisy Sanders to the team as our new company artist.

daisy works across genres and cities as an arts advocate, researcher, teacher and as a writer, deviser and performer. daisy’s artistic approach is characterised by warm generosity, fierce intelligence, nuanced critical dialogue and intentional community building. in 2023 she was busy with the caroline plummer international fellowship in otago and in 2024 daisy plans to return to grassroots experimental, poetic and political practices, with a particular focus on collaborating with wa artist colleagues. we’re delighted that some of that work will be with us.

“i’m thrilled to become a pvi artist in 2024 because i share the company’s passion for play, and for radically hopeful art work that ignites change. i’m keen to be coaxed into more provocative, powerful and political ways of creating. pvi’s unparalleled social commentary is both astute and irreverent - a potent mix. i’ll strive to contribute to this while also infusing their awesome work with the heart and joyous embodiment that characterises my own artistic approach.” daisy.

the addition of daisy to the team has been made possible via the ArtsPay foundations inaugural grants round. the artspay foundation is funded through profits from artspay, a for-purpose payment processing company that provides in store and online payment services to businesses. if you or your business would like to join artspay and help grow a new source of support for the arts, please head on over to artspay.com.

what happens when radical feminist activist academics join with a legendary choreographer and an experimental artist?

thanks to PICA - Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts quick response residencies, last week pvi kelli joined the (feminist educators against sexism) team - dr jo pollit, dr emily grey & prof mindy blaise - to work on their new participatory performance on everyday sexism.

with research and real life testimonies drawn from a long forgotten 1970s royal commission on male and female relationships*, the work reactivates the commission 50 years on to give a glimpse into how far (or not) the feminist movement has traveled.

*in 1974 prime minister gough whitlam announced the royal commission into human relationships, which ran between '74 and '77 and was, in part, a response to concerns raised by the women’s movement. according to monash uni's johnny bell and kate murphy, it remains “one of the most fascinating surveys of modern life”.

"attendees will be part of an experiment in coming together for change that will unleash their “inner rebel”.
pvi's rebel kelli said: “that’s the power of this work for me; we all get to experience what a citizen-led democracy feels like. we turn hopelessness about big world issues into empowerment, by showing one small act of people power can have great impact towards a hopeful future.”

📢 we're thrilled the incredibly awesome mr jeremy smith has been appointed pvi's new chairperson... 👏

living and playing in boorloo (perth), jeremy works as Performing Lines' w.a. senior producer, having previously been Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts' gm and Australia Council for the Arts' director of experimental arts and community arts. working closely with artists, organisations and communities to promote artistic bravery, self-determination, authentic representation and brokering opportunities, jeremy's spent considerable time on initiatives and projects born out of regional and remote australia, and developing and delivering key arts and disability programs.

from jeremy: "just as i like to disrupt notions and norms of access, equity and inclusion across the arts industry, pvi delivers disruption in spades. they are brave, ambitious and subversive, tackling head-on crunchy terrain that others fear to explore, in climate justice and ethical partnerships. they're among the most generous of allies and accomplices to many in our industry; and they have an eye on the future of experimental arts – offering opportunity and pathways to emerging and mid-career artists to ensure a bright horizon of play, interdisciplinary dreaming and hopepunk”.

we're excited to have someone of jeremy’s calibre as chairperson - a passionate advocate for the sector with deep knowledge of experimental practice and social inclusion who champions the value of artists in society. we're proud this golden human being - who is actively shaking up and transforming attitudes around difference and inclusion across the arts - will be steering the pvi ship.

"to take this role with a company whose work and people i adore and values i strongly align with is an opportunity i'm excited to tackle. we've a board whose passion, expertise & awareness bring a great deal. and we look forward to soon welcoming some new members to our dreaming & scheming of future play & disruption.”
