Unpacking at our Midland Railway Workshops. I could say this is about unpacking but actually it’s just a photo of someone who really, really loves his forklift.
Final big move out of Angove Street today. Cleaning tomorrow. Sign is down. Things are moved. Luckily we had pretty much NO stock left. What a send off you gave us!!
Thank you Angove community! A new space awaits.
Behind every business is a group of supporters and friends. I can’t exit Angove Street without saying thank you to this group of fellow North Perth mums.
What started 16 years ago as a new mothers group with us sat around a circle with babies in our arms (some of us pacing, some of us falling asleep) developed into a kind, considerate, caring group of friends. They have fulfilled the roles of parental advisory service, baked goods support, provided gallery and shop assistance, serving staff for openings, platter provisioning, emotional support 😢 for difficult moments, provided strong and valuable opinions on artworks, flyer distribution, and much, much more.
Here they are helping packing cards over coffee this morning 😘
Thanks team x
Two more days to go before we close our door at No.56.
We are open Wednesday & Thursday 10-3pm.

A celebration of some of our staff through the ages. Sorry didn’t capture you guys .westerik.illustration
Liam was with us for around 4 years had a passion for shorts that was only revealed once he moved away from the counter, the lovely Carly with some of the very first mugs (look at them all!!), a young creating some patterns for sewing. Is. Ian was with us for ten years!
All of our staff were full of creative talent!
Kings Park Nursery framed print. 20% off.
Print room at No.56. Rotary four colour printing press.
When we moved into no.56 it was full of telephones, grey carpet on the floor and some classic office blinds in the window.
I won’t share all the moments here on social media, this is a celebration of physical space and local community. That doesn’t mean we don’t love you all via social media, but walking into a space, meeting the maker, dropping in, watching the artist at work (or sometimes procrastinating) is what has always been about. See the window IRL for more moments.
Our final exhibition in the window. We didn't want to go out on a sad note, instead we want to celebrate what No.56 and the surrounding community has allowed us to create.
Please enjoy 56 of our favourite moments behind the scenes at No.56. You can chuckle at FAQs - (the compounding chemist is down the road on the left behind the tree), many funny moments and you can even add a message to our window.
Exhibition will run through to the last week of July. Jane x
Photos of all stock that is currently left in store. Some last minute stock arrived in store today. We still have some framed prints, limited shades, height charts, iPad stands, a few window stickers, Art on sheoak, a good selection of A3 prints, magnets and tea towels.
We have some of our most popular framed prints: large Perth Cityscape, Dingo Flour Mill and Southern Skies. Last few serving boards that needed finishing this week have just arrived from the workshop.
We're not going to apologise for saying it's 187 days until Christmas....

Many, many thanks for all your visits and kind words this week — we wouldn't have survived this long without your support.

Bring along your children to add their drawings and scribbles, bring your dogs and I will sketch them onto the window — let's celebrate what a beautiful community you are!
On Friday I will be installing our final window exhibition "56 moments of 56" a celebration of behind the scenes at No.56.
Obviously no erotic drawings allowed 🤭.
Two weeks today we'll be closing our doors to our Angove Street Store. Thank you to everyone who has popped in and shown their ongoing support, their kind words and enjoyed reminiscing about fun times we've had over the years.

Sneak peek work in progress shot of Jane’s artwork for the art prize opening this Saturday!
Self explanatory. Until we close on Thursday 27th June 2024. Open extra times on Sundays 11-3.
Close up of work now available. Inspired by watching the fading light while camping at Warren River. This work has a partner painting that will soon be exhibited at the Art Prize which opens this weekend.
Soon we will be sharing 56 little moments of joy at No.56… we are going through the photo archive and will share some of the behind the scenes adventures and moments that have happened in our building.
So far all we’re doing is commenting on how young we look 17 years ago, once we’re over that we will start posting.

North Perth Hardware Store at 56 Angove Street, North Perth, 1921
Accession number
PH03147
Horace Roberts operated the North Perth Hardware Store at this location from 1921 to 1948. It was known to the family as ‘the top shop’ as he also opened a shop at 4 Angove Street, next to Woodthorpes Butchers. The shop was located opposite the junction with Albert Street. It won a prize for best window display in 1921. As well as running the shop Horace Roberts did small maintenance jobs on doors and windows for people.
Hey folks - We will be open on SUNDAYS 11-3 until we move out on the 27th June. We have a few small mugs, serving boards, lampshades and stands in store but these will go very quickly so visit soon if you wish to grab your favourite items before we close the store.
In case you missed the news.... we will be leaving Angove Street and our last day will be Thursday 27th June. We have brought all remaining stock to Angove.
We are taking lampshade orders up to the 15th June... get in early though because we reach our max before then.
We will be open Wednesday - Saturday 10-3 and Sunday 9th/16th/23rd June from 11-3pm
Thank you supporters x x x
Dear Supporters —
We are sad to announce our Angove Street store will be closing on Thursday 27th June.
—
Firstly though, we want to thank every single person who walked into our store and supported local design and manufacturing. When we moved into Angove Street seventeen years ago we could never imagine where this journey would take us. In that time we’ve had a wedding, had two babies, ridden the wave of two global financial crisis and survived a big dose of global pandemic.
Angove Street has flourished around us. Unfortunately the costs of renting on this beautiful street have also grown. We have reached a point where we’ve decided to pursue other options to support our business. Our products will still be available but instead of a bricks and mortar store we will be popping up with temporary stores and galleries throughout Perth.
All stock will be brought to Angove Street.
We will open Wednesday to Sundays 10-3pm until 3pm Thursday 27th June.

Going forward our newsletter will update you with news about new work from Jane Coffey and our future pop-up locations. We hope you continue to follow us!
