It's R U OK? Day. An important reminder to check in on each other and ask R U OK? Any Day.
Did you know that people with an intellectual disability are more likely to have a mental illness than people without intellectual disability?
Understanding and recognising mental health issues in people with intellectual disabilities can be more challenging. Many signs are often missed because we tend to rely on verbal cues and a person's ability to express their feelings.
To better understand how to identify mental health concerns in those with an intellectual disability follow the link to our website 👉👉 https://intelife.org/news/mental-health-and-intellectual-disabilities/

INTELIFE GROUP CEO RESIGNS
Intelife Group Ltd (“Intelife”) CEO Steve Edgar has announced that he will be stepping down from his role after more than five years at the helm.
Steve has been a vocal advocate for the need to transform the NDIS pricing model. He was instrumental in shaping a strategy that has enabled Intelife to fund the provision and development of its disability service through new, profitable income streams in an NDIS environment.
This strategy has the support of both the Board and the executive team and will continue to shape the future direction of the organisation after Steve’s departure.
Under his leadership, Intelife has improved service delivery, commercialised the organisation’s Australian Disability Enterprise (“ADE”) including two acquisitions to diversify it’s income base and emerged from the Covid-19 pandemic on a sound financial footing.
Intelife’s strong executive team will continue to lead the organisation through 2023 and beyond and the Board is actively seeking a new CEO.
Intelife is proud to have had Steve’s stewardship since 2017 and wish him all the best when he steps down in June 2023.

Introducing Allan. It has proven difficult over the years to find an activity that Allan's willing to try. New environments/activities can be quite overwhelming for some of us, including Allan. Busselton skills trainer John, has built an incredible rapport with Allan, which has been clearly reflected in support yesterday as they both confidently went to the pool together, for the second time?!?!Big congratulations to both John and Allan, your rapport with each other is admirable and has led to huge achievements like this. Photo proof below of Allan with his pool gear, for those that need to see it to believe it!

EASYBEATZ - A Welcoming and Inclusive Social event in Mandurah EASYBEATZ - A Welcoming and Inclusive social event in Mandurah
Introducing Liam
Liam is 36 and lives at home with his mum Linda. Liam has been accessing Lifeskills Mandurah support since 2018, having received a late diagnosis of Autism. Liam is very knowledgeable about all things to do with Transformers and has a large collection at home. He enjoys golf and is involved in a creative writing group called Fan Fiction. Until recently, Liam had also been working part-time as a Trolley collector at Coles.
Liam’s Lifeskills goals have focussed around increasing his independent living skills, building his friendships in his community, and improving his fitness.
In recent weeks, Liam has commenced with Commercial Services, working 2 days a week on road-side litter collection and BBQ cleaning. Liam’s employment goals include developing his work, communication, social and time management skills, with the ultimate goal of returning to open employment.
Liam’s mum, Linda recently reached out to provide some feedback on Liam and his progress.
“Thank you, he is really taking ADE seriously, loves working/interacting with others, we have quite the conversation about his days, which is a BIG change for Liam, he has never been a conversationalist, always just short sharp one word answers and never initiates a discussion, I have seen quite a change in him and I am very grateful to Intelife, you people are amazing”
Keep up the great work Liam!
