There is just something so special about flowers with speckles 🐆🍇🩰

Photographing flowers in my home studio space that I share with my partner can be a bit of a mission (especially trying to cut out an unaesthetic background… I’m talking machinery and tools for days 😂).
With a lot of fabric, pretty props and natural light - I can generally make it work but for a Taurean gal that values beautiful things, this has been a bit of a pain point for me. 🫣
So my darling partner and I have spent the past week busily reorganising the space so I have easier photo opportunities and better storage solutions. 🤌🏼 What a man!

For this dreamy pastel arrangement I kept it pretty simple with a neutral backdrop with a pop of blue silk ribbon, pears and candles. 🕯️
I couldn’t choose a favourite photo in the end! I’m interested to know - which do you prefer?

What does it mean when a design is “foam free” and why should you care? 💭
The green spongey foam you might have seen at the bottom of a vase is a convenient choice but is ultimately, a pretty harmful single-use plastic that can never fully break down.
With so many alternatives on the market like chicken wire, floral tubes, kenzans/flower frogs, moss and more modern options like Agra wool and oshun pouches, plus so many more coming onto the scene (I’m excited to trial ) - there is more opportunity than ever to leave traditional floral foam in the past.
I love the challenge and the creativity in designing something without foam - chicken wire and kenzans are my most used method!
These bold table centrepieces were made using kenzans in low ceramics for the most divine styled shoot. 🧡

Hello 👋🏻 I’m Jaicelyn - the passionate owner and floral designer behind Studio Viola. 🍂 It’s been a while since I’ve reintroduced myself, so here are 3 fun facts to get to know me a little bit better!

• If you’ve been around here for any amount of time you’ve probably noticed I am a bit of a collector (or hoarder, perhaps) of vintage pottery. 🏺 It’s been a passion of mine for such a long time and I love that I now have the excuse to wander around antique stores, markets and second hand shops scouring for unique inventory to add to my collection.

• I have 2 senior rescue greyhounds (Archie and Smurf) that are my babies. Having the flexibility to spend more time with them is truly a dream come true. 🐾

•I’ve always dreamed of working in a creative field but wasn’t always sure what that might be. I studied visual arts for a time, had a small handmade clothing label for a few years in my late teens, did markets selling upcycled vintage clothing and artificial flower crowns - anything that would lead me to working in a creative career. Then 6 years ago my partner encouraged me to enrol in floristry school… and the rest is history! 🤍

🕺🏻 LET’S TALK BOUTONNIÈRES 🕺🏻

• Traditionally, they’re worn on the left side lapel
• Usually worn by the groom, groomsmen and sometimes a few special family members
• The groom’s boutonnière may have another colour or something else a bit spesh to make it stand out from the groomsmen’s
• Store your boutonnières somewhere cool and attach to your jacket just before you leave to ensure longevity
• It’s normal for your boutonnière to be a bit worse for wear after all the hugging! Be mindful to care for it as best you can at least until after photos!

Remember, don’t feel like you HAVE to even have boutonnières if it’s not your vibe or you’d rather allocate the budget elsewhere. There’s no rules. x 🤍
