Introducing Dr Sally Osborne to Elizabeth Clinic
Dr Sally Osborne is a general adult psychiatrist who has 20 years’ experience and expertise in treating the full range of mental health problems seen in the adult population. Her training and work experience started in the UK and has taken her to Spain, Switzerland, Zambia and now Australia. She has worked in regional and remote areas and with the Indigenous population. She works part-time at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and part-time at the Elizabeth Clinic.
Ideologically she is committed to providing a holistic, person-centred approach, viewing the individual in their familial, social and cultural environment. Her first degree was in Psychology, and whilst being skilled with the pharmacological treatments of mental illness, she does not focus on this alone and considers psychological and lifestyle factors to be very important in an individual’s recovery. She works within the self-management paradigm, encouraging the individual (and when relevant their families and carers) to collaborate in all treatment decisions.
She is happy to see people from aged 17 upwards with:
– mood disorders
– psychotic disorders
– anxiety disorders including Generalised Anxiety, Panic Disorder, OCD, PTSD
– perinatal mental health
– dealing with transitions / grief and loss
– family, parenting and relationship difficulties
We are asking our patients and families to please wear masks in our waiting room.
Each clinician will choose whether or not masks are preferred in a face to face consult.
This will help us protect our pregnant mums, newborns and immune compromised staff and patients from ALL the respiratory illnesses in the community.
Please do not attend the clinic if you are feeling unwell or have cold/flu symptoms.
We thank you ever so much for respecting our clinicians choice to wear masks in consults.

Many people stand together today, inspired by Queen Elizabeth II.
Our hearts go out to her family and the thousands - perhaps millions - of admirers around the world.
Keep reading for some insight into WHY we chose our name.
The Conception, Delivery and Naming of the Elizabeth Clinic.
The ideas behind the Elizabeth Clinic have been discussed for many years over many toasted sandwiches at lunchtime. The clinicians involved share many decades worth of experience of working with young families.
We would often lament how tortuous the journey a mother had experienced, due to the fact that it had been hard to find the right help and there had been too many people involved all offering different opinions. Or how sad a family had become because each time they found someone helpful to them, they had to move on to the next service because now their child was too old.
We also were acutely aware of how hard it is for pregnant women, new parents and their partners and carers to ask for help. There are often barriers that seem insurmountable and often families are not even sure what they need help with.
It is because of these experiences that the Elizabeth Clinic was born. A welcoming one-stop-shop for young families and those considering pregnancy. A place where the clinicians actively collaborate and keep the whole family in mind. A place where the same clinicians can join the family on the journey from preconception to middle childhood. A place where barriers are kept to a minimum and each care plan is individualised.
And why Elizabeth? We wanted a name that symbolised care, reliability, stability and inclusiveness, and we think we have found that in Elizabeth.
History tells us of several Elizabeths. It starts with Elizabeth in the bible, who was a much older woman who had to adjust to a much wanted but unexpected pregnancy, she had endured years of longing for a baby and finally was blessed. Much like so many women and their partners today, who have struggles with fertility and can have an anxious time once they do conceive.
Elizabeth also took in Mary, when she was unexpectedly pregnant, and nurtured her and delighted in her, despite being surrounded by a culture that condemned u***d mothers. This welcoming and non-judgmental support is something we strive for at the Elizabeth Clinic.
Saint Elizabeth of Hungary was a very young and disempowered woman, who despite her own suffering, took to caring for others. She represents many of the women in our community who struggle to have a sense of control over their lives whilst selflessly caring for their children.
Queen Elizabeth is also a woman of great stature, compassion and unwavering dedication to others who symbolised what it means to be a successful woman, a mother and a grandmother. She famously stated ; ‘I think we should remember that in spite of all the scientific advances and great improvements in our material welfare, the family remains as the focal point of our existence. — 1956
Finally, there is Elizabeth (Bessie) Gardiner. A stoic, courageous woman who nurtured her family, her farm animals, and an entire community with a selflessness and dignity throughout the middle of the last century. She never judged others and always put out her hand to support others. She is a powerful role model for a generation of women in her family and also happens to be one of our grandmothers.
Do you have an Elizabeth in your life who is inspiring or represents something that you aspire to? If you do, please let us know, and they can join our dedication to all those with the name Elizabeth.

Exciting news! We are running another Circe of Security parenting group,
We are happy to offer this training online, for the comfort and safety of all participants. The group will be co-facilitated by our lovely Elizabeth Clinic staff, Marnie Kehoe (Social Worker), Gabrielle Ormiston (Senior Psychiatry Registrar) and supervised by Dr. Caroline Zanetti.
To maintain the integrity of the training, we have small groups so each participant has the opportunity to feel truly involved, supported and connected.
The group begins early May, so get in quick to register your interest, there’s only four slots left!
Email your interest to [email protected] (attn: COS Triage). Please include your name, your contact phone number and the age of your child(ren). We’d also love a sentence or two (or more!) about why you’re interested in COS.
If groups aren’t feeling right for you at the moment, we offer individual COS-based training as well.

When you receive the invite link, copy it into your browser's address bar and press [Enter] or search.
Your browser may first ask you to grant microphone and/or camera access. You must accept these requests for Jitsi to work.
If prompted, enter a name, which will be visible to other participants in the Jitsi Meeting room.
(If required) Adjust the camera and/or microphone settings via the [v] dropdown menu items. Usually these will already be properly configured.
Click [Join] meeting.

Troubleshooting Tips
The video and audio are choppy
Make sure you close any other apps and browser windows as these use device resources.
If you your Wi-Fi connection is unstable, consider switching to ‘data’ (4G or 5G) to see if this works. Please be aware this may lead to data costs for some phone services.
If you have an older device (more than 5-7 years old) it may be the hardware limitations of the device. In most cases this cannot be resolved.
I can’t hear the other participant
If you cannot hear the other participant, please check your speaker volume.
In some instances (laptops and computers) you may have more than one audio output option. If you know how to access the audio output settings of your device (for example changing output from monitor speakers to headset) you can try this.
I can’t see the other participant
If you cannot see the video stream of the other participant, it may be that their we**am is not on or incorrectly set up.
The other participant can’t hear me
If the other participant cannot hear you, check your microphone connection and settings.
The other participant may need to check their own speaker settings and system volume as well.
The other participant can’t see me
If the other participant can see you but you can see them, ensure your we**am is plugged in (if using a PC). You may find unplugging it and re-connecting it may resolve the issue.
It’s still not working :(
In rare cases you may find installing the software (PC) or app (Apple or Android) can help. While you do not need an app to use Jitsi, testing the connection through the app can be helpful to troubleshoot.
It may be that switching to telephone for the rest of the session is the best course of action. Ensure you make Elizabeth Clinic staff aware of any issues.
