First look at the new designs for our home at Perth Concert Hall! The $150.3 million redevelopment is set to begin in early 2025, restoring Perth Concert Hall's architectural legacy, preserving its renowned acoustics, enhancing venue accessibility, and providing a permanent home for WASO musicians and staff.

A big thank you to David Templeman MLA, Roger Cook, and the team at Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries for your leadership on this project, with support from Jenny McAllister, Patrick Gorman MP, Australian Government and City of Perth .

While the venue is closed for redevelopment, WASO will present an exciting season in a range of iconic venues across Perth, and continue our extensive community engagement activities in outer-metropolitan and regional areas.

Full details of WASO’s 2025 Season will be announced, and subscriptions released for sale, on Thursday 28 November.

Over 3 days, WASO's small ensembles brought joy to 21 aged care homes across Perth, and the impact was truly heartwarming!

A total of 924 seniors and aged care workers enjoyed a blend of classical and modern pieces and engaged with the interactive segments. In one home, the music even moved a gentleman to tears, reminding us once again why we are passionate about bringing our music to communities.

“Fisch and a superbly on-form WASO unfurled the second part’s orchestral prelude with meticulous pacing and detailing, and as choir and soloists gradually reclaimed their prominence amongst the score’s texture they so brilliantly laid the groundwork for the redemptive appearance of the Eternal Feminine, the sonorous chorale and brilliant climax such that when they did arrive it one immediately thought, “So, this is heaven.””

Thank you Limelight for this amazing review. We are still buzzing!

Last night at the UWA Conservatorium of Music, we enjoyed a fascinating interview with Karen Gomyo, hosted by Ashley Smith.

Aspiring students, violinists, and music lovers were captivated by Karen's stories about her time at Juilliard, the teachers who inspired her, her connection to the Barber concerto, and the hard work behind mastering her repertoire and touring.

You can watch Karen performing Barber's violin concerto this weekend, tickets are still available on our website!

WASO's Crescendo students from Medina Primary School and North Parmelia Primary School came together for their first Combined Schools Concert at Koorliny Arts Centre Kwinana.

For many, it was their first time performing in front of an audience, making the event even more special. Families, local seniors, and WASO Giving Circle members shared the magic of this milestone moment. Through Crescendo, WA’s only program of its kind, these young musicians receive free, weekly music lessons, and their hard work and passion shine brightly on stage.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Emeritus Musician John Dean, a beloved colleague and valued member of our Orchestra for 33 years.

John joined WASO as a violinist and went on to become the longest-serving Principal Viola, holding the position from 1970 to 1989. He is fondly remembered as a true gentleman with a great sense of humour, and his legacy continues through his daughter Amanda, a casual percussionist with WASO since the 1980s.
