And no.... I do not have enough time in my life to make my own crossaint pastry. Swipe through to see the secret from the
frozen section.
I wanted to show the process from taking rough shape and refining it. It is important to do this work the at the correct stage of dryness. Too wet and you can not get any detail and too dry, the clay is difficult to work with and may crack. Also sharp crisp edges may look nice but a compromise must be made for utility. Sharp edges are prone to chipping so they need to be rounded off to make the pot harder wearing
This a one of my wood fired bonsai pots that has gone to a new home. It is an unglazed oval. The depth of colour comes from the long 20+ hour firing time in the reduction atmosphere in the wood kiln. The slight sheen comes from the wood ash that flies throughout the kiln during the firing. The new owner said he likes the pot so much, he is going to display it in his home rather than putting a tree in it. I let him know that it was made with the intention that of being used but he can decided what he does with it.
I have a few pots in this exhibition on today. Hope to see you there
