Bryce Skea didn’t have a great day of golf at Redland Bay Golf Club on the weekend. Bryce‘s scored of 22 points off an 18 handicap won him the Crying Towel for our August match. Bryce still managed a smile … perhaps he was thinking about the extra shots he’ll have at our next match at Gainsborough Greens in September.

A lovely note of thanks from one of the young golfers we support
Dear Nomads Golf Club Brisbane,
I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the support and kindness you have shown me heading into the Greg Norman Junior Masters tournament 2023. I was very happy and appreciative to find out I was selected as a recipient of your sponsorship for this event. Your generosity and encouragement have helped me to continue to pursue my dreams and achieve my golfing goals. Currently I am 13 years old, from River Heads. I have a handicap of 6 and just recently won’t the order of Merit for Wide Bay Golf and the Most improved Junior in 18 holes at our Hervey Bay Junior Program. I spend most afternoons after school and weekends at the Hervey Bay Golf Club practicing.
I hope one day I will be able to help other juniors achieve their goals as you have done for me.
Thank-you again,
Zane Stowers
A big welcome to our newest Brisbane Nomads … Rob Sansbury (left) and Brett Chambers pictured here with club captain Andrew McGlone at our February match at the Glades Golf Club. We wish you well on your Nomads’ journey.
Simply the Best. The team of Tima Tama, Robin Little, Joe Gigante and Ed Lues scored a combined tally of 136 points to be the best 4-ball at Sunday’s Nomads Brisbane February game at The Glades. On the other end of the scale, Greg Townsend, Jesus Ramos, Clive Hill and Andy Williams could manage only 113 points. Both teams were winners on the day though.
Tony Schafer celebrated a significant birthday last week … and he also won a significant trophy - the Crying Towel. Tony, playing off a 9 handicap, posted 22 points at The Glades during our February match. Many Nomads in the crowd asked: “How does a man with such a beautiful swing shoot 22 points?” Only Tony knows the answer to that.
There were some great scores at The Glades for Nomads Golf Club Brisbane’s February match. And these guys were the best of the best. From left (pictured with dapper captain Andrew McGlone) is A Grade winner Ryan McKechnie who scored 40 points off a 10 handicap; C Grade winner Brian Chambers who scored 36 points off a 17; and B Grade winner Kent Harris who amassed 41 points off a 16 handicap. Congrats, and well played. Nomads
