They are an important part of any exercise regime and are taken so that our muscles can recover from any damage sustained during vigorous exercise sessions.

However, even rest days can be productive and utilized healthily. We've listed down some things you can do on rest days where you won't overexert yourself, yet feel accomplished!

✔️Do a little light exercise, nothing that feels too intense so maybe go for a walk or d a quick 10 minutes workout session.
✔️Make sure to eat and to eat healthily. There are lots of healthy carbs out there that you can consume, it's fine to treat yourself at times so it is okay, eat smartly - don't starve yourself!
✔️Protein is essential when it comes to eating healthier, for weight maintenance, muscle gain and so much more! Make yourself a nice steak or maybe some delicious grilled fish.
✔️Drink lots of water to stay hydrated and fresh.
✔️Stretch for 10 or 15 mins, maybe squeeze in a nice yoga session. This won't over-exert your muscles, give them a nice stretch and help you feel recharged!

🥰️Try any of these things on your rest days, and even if you don't do anything at all - it's okay. Just breathe, relax, count your blessing, and remember - it's just a day. Tomorrow is a new beginning and a new chance to work on bettering yourself - you've got this!

"Honey Walnut Shrimp

INGREDIENTS
1 c. water
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. walnuts
1 lb. shrimp, peeled and deveined
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
2 large eggs, beaten
1 c. cornstarch
Vegetable oil for frying
1/4 c. mayonnaise
2 tbsp. honey
2 tbsp. heavy cream
Cooked white rice, for serving
Thinly sliced green onions, for garnish

DIRECTIONS
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine water and sugar and bring to a boil. Add walnuts and let boil for 2 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, remove walnuts and let cool on a small baking sheet.
Pat shrimp dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper. Place eggs in a shallow bowl and cornstarch in another shallow bowl. Dip shrimp in eggs, then in cornstarch coating well.
In a large skillet over medium heat, heat 1” of oil. Add shrimp in batches and fry until golden, 3 to 4 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel lined plate.
In a medium bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, honey, and heavy cream. Toss shrimp in sauce. Serve over rice with candied walnuts and garnish with green onions.

"Slow-Cooker Turkey Chili

INGREDIENTS
1 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
1 red onion, finely chopped
1 green Bell Pepper, chopped
1 1/2 lb. ground turkey
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp. tomato paste
1 (28-oz.) can chopped tomatoes
1 (15-oz.) can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 (15-oz.) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 1/2 c. low-sodium chicken broth
2 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. ground cumin
1 tsp. dried oregano
Shredded cheddar, for garnish
Thinly sliced green onions, for garnish

DIRECTIONS
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat oil. Add onion and pepper and cook until beginning to soften, about 4 minutes. Add ground turkey and cook, stirring occasionally, until turkey is golden (it doesn't have to be completely cooked through at this point). Season with salt and pepper, then stir in garlic and tomato paste and cook until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Transfer mixture to a slow cooker.
To the slow cooker, add tomatoes, black beans, kidney beans, chicken broth, chili powder, cumin and oregano. Cook on high for 4 hours, until chili has thickened. Check for seasoning and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Garnish with cheese and green onion, if desired.

"Chicken Taco Avocados

INGREDIENTS
FOR THE FILLING
1 c. black beans, cooked
1 c. canned corn
1 4-oz. can green chiles, divided
1 c. shredded rotisserie chicken, preferably Tyson Grilled & Ready Pulled Chicken Breasts
1 c. shredded Cheddar, plus more for topping
1 package taco seasoning
2 tbsp. fresh cilantro, plus more for topping
3 ripe avocados
FOR THE DRESSING
1 c. ranch dressing
1/4 c. lime juice
1 tbsp. fresh cilantro
1 tsp. kosher salt
1 tsp. fresh ground black pepper

DIRECTIONS
Heat broiler. Make filling: In a large bowl, combine black beans, corn, 1/2 can green chiles, shredded chicken, Cheddar, taco seasoning, and fresh cilantro. Stir until combined.
Halve and separate three avocados, removing pit and hollowing out insides. Mash insides in a small bowl and set aside.
Place avocado boats face up and fill each with 1/3 cup of filling. Sprinkle with more Cheddar and more fresh cilantro, then broil until cheese is melty, about 2 minutes.
Make dressing: In a medium bowl, combine ranch dressing, lime juice, remaining green chiles, cilantro, salt, and pepper and stir to combine. Fold in mashed avocados and mix until smooth.
Remove avocado boats from oven and transfer to serving dish. Drizzle with dressing and garnish with more cilantro, if desired. Serve immediately.

Low carbs

"Vegan Pizza

INGREDIENTS
FOR THE PIZZA
1 small head cauliflower, cut into small florets
1 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
Cooking spray, for pan
2/3 c. barbecue sauce, divided
2 (8-oz packages) store-bought pizza dough
1/2 small red onion, thinly sliced
FOR THE VEGAN RANCH
1/2 c. vegan mayonnaise
Juice of 1/2 a lemon
1 tbsp. finely chopped chives, plus more for garnish
1 tbsp. finely chopped parsley
1 clove garlic, minced
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 400°. In a large bowl, toss cauliflower with oil, vinegar, garlic powder, and cayenne. Season with salt and pepper and spread in an even layer on a large baking sheet. Roast until florets are tender and slightly golden, 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the size of your florets.
When ready to assemble pizza, return cauliflower to large bowl and toss with 1/3 cup barbecue sauce. Turn oven up to 475°. Grease a large baking sheet with cooking spray.
Make vegan ranch: In a medium bowl, mix together all ingredients then season with salt and pepper.
Spread 1 ball pizza dough onto greased baking sheet. Spread half remaining 1/3 cup barbecue sauce on crust in a thin, even layer, leaving about a 1/2” border. Top with half the cauliflower and red onions. Repeat with remaining ingredients and bake until crust is crispy, 12 to 15 minutes.
Garnish with chives and a drizzle of vegan ranch.

How to Make Pomegranate Juice
1.Take a sharp knife and carefully peel the rind from the aloe vera plant leaves and discard the rind.
2.Peel the yellow layer just beneath the rind with a sharp knife and you should be left with approximately 2 Tbsp (30 ml) of clear aloe vera gel. (Clean the gel before adding to the juice.)
3.In a blender add pomegranate juice, chopped beetroot and blend.
4.Now add aloe vera gel. Give it a whiz.
5.Lastly add some black pepper and serve.
