Without a doubt the most higly fennestrated plant in the world a jewel in the plant kingdom. Aponogeton madagascariensis is without a doubt the Holeyest plant in the world. The common name Madagascar Lace plant describes it beautifully.

Capable of producing leaves over 50cm long this spectacular plant become so famous that it was poached to the brink of extinction in its natural habitat by plant collectors, and is now considered as endangered in habitat. Its skeletal leaves are truly unique, as is its flowers produced on a stalk of around 1m long.

PLANT HACK: DIY CHUNKY POTTING MIX
Here’s how to make the perfect potting mixture for your indoor plants 🌱 Soil is all about controlling drainage, so here’s my recipe for a DIY chunky potting mix.

I’m using PowerFeed Controlled Release Plant Food by Seasol because it will feed my Monstera Thai Constellation for up to five months. It contains seaweed, which enhances plant health and also stimulates root growth.

Since Spring is coming up soon here in Australia, now’s a great time to start thinking about re-potting your plants. This chunky mix is great for plants that like high-draining soil, but if your plant likes to retain more moisture, increase the ratio of potting soil and use less of the drainage materials.

MY CHUNKY POTTING MIX:
▪️Succulent & Cacti mineral blend
▪️Horticultural charcoal
▪️Perlite
▪️Peat moss
▪️PowerFeed Controlled Release Plant Food
▪️Orchid bark

CONSIDERING A CHRISTMAS PUPPY?
I saw a post on another group about rescue centres, so thought I’d share some of the information

There is NO ROOM at any of the shelters right now. Foster carers are overextended and people still are trying to offload unwanted dogs hand over fist.

If shelters are overcrowded, either healthy dogs die to accomodate others with more promising rehoming prospects, or dogs are simply turned away. This causes irresponsible owners who no longer want their dog to resort to selling / giving away dogs via unchecked (online methods). They’re often snapped up by evil people to be used as bait dogs for fights.

The more homes that buy a bred puppy - the more dogs that languish and die in shelters or are dumped / irresponsibly rehoused.

Please consider rescuing and make a lonely, frightened shelter dogs Christmas, too ❤️

On a personal note, I was lucky enough to rescue Whisky from RSPCA NSW and it was the best decision of my life. She needed some support at the beginning, but seeing her blossom into the happy, confident dog she is today was so rewarding. Although I didn’t get the Instagram pictures of a tiny little pup (which appeals to a lot of people), there’s so much more to owning a dog than a few photos.

HOW TO CARE FOR FIDDLE LEAF FIG TREES
Alright, I’m probably to get some hate for saying this... But my fiddle leaf fig tree is one of my easiest plants EVER! I know they get a bad rep for being an overly-dramatic, “look at me wrong and I’ll drop leaves” plant, but I don’t find that at all. Here’s why.

1. They tell you what they need 🥰
If FLF’s leaves are dropping, pointing downwards rather than straight, or upright, they need a drink.

2. Give it a helping hand 🧽
One of the most beautiful things about these plants is their gorgeous, large leaves. But they also get quite dusty. Be sure to use a leaf shine to help with photosynthesis. Our organic Shine & Protect gets leaves glossy, but also protects against bugs 🐛

3. Noticing yellow spots? 💧🌱
Yellowing leaves are often a sign of over or under watering. That sounds complicated, but more often than not, people over-water. Mine are in large drip trays, and I know it’s time to water if there’s no sign of water in it. So in winter, usually monthly, but fortnightly in summer.

4. The secret trick, sun! ☀️
If you take one thing away from this, it’s that fiddle figs LOVE sun. They like bright, indirect light. Next to a window (without leaves touching the window) is perfect. This will help them grow like crazy.

5. Start from the ground up 💪
Soil health is something that doesn’t get spoken about often enough. But it makes sense, right? How can a plant be healthy if it’s not going in the right soil. If your plant is struggling, you can give it a helping hand by re-potting into good quality, organic soil. Bonus points if you add worm castings compost, a 100% organic plant food that is seriously like gold for your plant. We sell both these products, and only after I used them on my own plants and noticed the results first-hand. You can otherwise add high-drainage matter to your soil.

DIY LAZY SUSAN CHEESE BOARD
