Another Saturday of hotly contested racing for the juniors at Heffron.

Randwick Cycling Heffron Park Junior Cycling Academy has partnered with AusCycling to support kids . With sessions on Thursday at 4-5pm and Saturday from 1-2:15pm, with the direction of accredited cycling coaches and trained volunteers, we're delivering - a structured program that help kids to

Thursday Junior skills training is back for term 2 ! Today we focused on close riding techniques touching the rider beside you. Also fun 🤩 short slalom sprint races.

In conjunction with AusCycling and the Australian Sports Commission we launched the pilot of - an 8-week program that helps your kids to ride safe and ride smart! Led be accredited instructors, we work with children from 5yo to 12yo to teach children to ride with confidence, to develop practical bike handling skills, and to keep children active.

We're taking a mini-break on Sat, 30 April from both Heffron Park Junior Cycling Academy + Randwick Cycling at Heffron Park crits. Our riders will be spread throughout NSW, competing + achieving PBs.

In the Grafton to Inverell Cycle Classic we wish the following Randwick Cycling members the very best:
Academy 'graduate', Will Heffernan from CCACHE x Par Küp in the NRS Division, competing against 76 riders; also in the Young Rider Division.
Academy 'Master', Allan G Smith .g.smith will be competing in the MMAS5 Division, against 33 riders.
Both Will + Allan will be tacking the 228km course + climbing over 3300m in what will be good weather for riding. That's 124 laps around Heffron (plus 3297m climbing)!

In the Goulburn Cycle Club Goulburn Workers Junior Tour, over 2 days + 4 stages, with wet + windy conditions expected, our Devt Squad will be out in force, alongside our emerging Academy stars. With a Prologue, Road Race, ITT, + another Road Race, we've got both 'veterans' + 'novices'. Here's who to watch:

Meanwhile, at the Mudgee Classic it will be a conga line of black, red, white, + blue - both before + after they've visited the local wineries! 🍷🍇
Some are tackling the 55km Dirty Mudgee + others are hitting the road. The is jury still out as to whether the weather will impact any decision to ride for 175km or 125km (or count wethers + not ride at all). Whatever options are chosen, with a downhill finish, the last 30km will be fast. Those who plan to make the start line include President Shane, with Audrey, Ben, Campbell, Clinton, Con H, Darrin, David Mac, Emily, Graeme, Ian, John H, Leona, Riad, Rick, Stephan, Stephen C, + Joe. We wish them all the very best, with our money on Riad to finish well ahead of the pack.

Last Thursday junior academy before Easter ✅ Happy Easter everyone & we will see you after school holidays!

In addition to Randwick Cycling racing been cancelled today, so too is Heffron Park Junior Cycling Academy. Academy is run during school terms on Thursday afternoons, from 4pm and on Saturday afternoons, from 1pm.

For Academy, next session is on Thursday, 6 April, then we're taking a break over school holidays, returning Thursday, 29 April.

Junior training & racing is ON today ! Be signed on & ready to ride by 1pm , remember it will be hot conditions so everyone should have 1 water bottle on their bike & plenty of sunscreen on ☀️

A hot Thursday afternoon for the junior training today but we were all prepared well with plenty of water & sunscreen on👍 Focus was more on skills rather than speed work- braking,cornering, body position & efficient pedaling . Finding the shady areas for technical briefing 😎

Great afternoon of fun cycling skills & some serious racing too! as it was the 1st round of the Junior Randwick Cycling Club Championships. Today’s racing format was a 1 lap Individual Time Trial & some fast times were posted 🏆🏆🏆

Saturday junior training & racing today! We started with some skills & drills before practicing doing a one lap Individual Time Trial. Focusing on starting correctly & building the pace for the full lap.
Also for the first time today some juniors tried their first race in Division 5 👍. Also thanks to all the helpers too today👏👏👏

Thursday afternoon Junior skills training saw us practicing fast starts with max efforts up the short (pimple hills) climbs. Plus fast slalom & short sprints too !

Today was reverse direction around the track so before racing we had the Roosters & Rabbit group focus on the corners while the younger Swan group practice U-turns , slalom & braking. Racing format was individual time trial. Well done to all the juniors !

Thanks to they have been able to give the track a clean for us today after all the storms this week! So we will have a safe & clean circuit tomorrow 👍Remember junior training starts at 1pm so be signed on & ready to ride🚴‍♀️🚴🏿‍♂️🚴‍♀️ . Also tomorrow’s training & racing is in Reverse direction.

Unfortunately we are cancelling todays Thursday skill session. The rain is to unpredictable today as such we are playing it safe. This Saturday juniors will be on. It will be reverse racing which will include one lap time trial practice in reverse direction. See you on Saturday.

Saturday junior training & racing had everything from practicing standing starts to fast slalom & sprint efforts. We also had fun practicing wheelies & bunny hops.
Races were Scratch race format & all raced hard with some great rides by many of the juniors. 👍

It was a beautiful sunny Thursday afternoon for the junior academy training at Heffron park today ! Apart from cornering practice we did a timed short course Individual Time Trial. All good preparation for when it comes to race day 👍 See you Saturday for more training fun & racing from 1pm.

Saturdays are for Junior training & racing fun ! We started with a couple of easy warmup laps in 3 different level groups with the Swans being the younger riders & then Rabbits/ Roosters depending on experience & age. Focus this week was cornering/body position & looking further ahead. Racing format was Swans 1 lap , Rabbits 3 & Roosters 5 . In very warm conditions all finished with the biggest smiles & that’s the most important thing👍

Good to be back training & racing on Saturday ! Well done everyone & we saw some good improvements in some of the juniors technical skills too👍

Fantastic day out at the Heffron Park Junior Cycling Academy with good conditions, a slight easterly, and development across three divisions - Swans, Rabbits and Roosters.
