ANNOUNCEMENT: I am going back to university! And because of this Artful Polly might be slightly impacted with less releases and markets - shipping of items through the shop will remain the same though.

I plan to try and maintain Artful Polly if I can, but this is also a 1 woman show! I'll do my best to keep it fresh and create new content where I can though 😌 and as always I'll share funky art I come across in my insta travels!

First fun fact for the labyrinth collection 😊 I have so many of these fun facts in my brain! Should definitely go on Hard Quiz with The Labyrinth as my category 😂

Did you know that the scenes in The Labyrinth where David Bowie is playing with the crystal ball aren't actually Bowie's hands at all?! Michael Moschen is behind the magical crystal ball manipulation, literally standing behind Bowie for these scenes. Because Moschen could not see the crystal ball, these scenes actually took many takes to achieve perfection. It's pretty impressive!

I am focusing on getting the pop art collection released this week, so I've had less time to post, but stay tuned for the release and some new gear coming!

The Pop Art collection may not be released until late this week, early next week, though! Prepping for markets and general life has taken over release! Eek! Photos have been taken, I just have to physically do the etsy listings and pricing. The boring stuff 😴

Mardi Gras celebrations are coming up in Sydney, and in honour of that, I have made some colourful little additions to the Artful Polly family! 🌈

Time for a Pop Art fun fact, before I finish this collection! Woops!

Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein’s works are amongst the most well known examples of Pop Art and are considered to be the "originals" of the movement. Pop Art continues to be a driving force for many contemporary artists including the amazing Yayoi Kusama, who creates incredible installations and artworks full of colours and shapes.

It's about time I did a Pop Art fun fact, don't you think?! Fun facts funnnnnn facts 🎶

The Pop Art movement began in the mid to late 50's as an attempt to challenge the traditional forms of artwork by incorporating popular culture images, bright colours, and bold black lines. This included artists playing on mass-produced goods, advertisements, celebrities, everyday objects, and comic books.
