The countdown is on! The Rebels are back in action this weekend for the Grand Final against a very strong Edgemasters side. Edgemasters got the best of the lads in a 1 run thriller earlier this year, so it’s going to be a cracker of a match.

Owing to the poor weather, tomorrow’s Grand Final has been postponed to next Saturday the 13th!

02/04/2024

The Rebels Grand Final is on this Saturday! The Rebels take on the favoured Edgemasters at Moore Park 6 on Robertson Road. First ball is at 9.00am, and the format is a 50 over a side one day match, finishing some time in the mid afternoon. Come down and support the lads as they seek the Club’s first lower grade premiership in a number of years!

Up the Rebels!

24/03/2024

The Rebels are off to another Grand Final! The 3rd XI came out on top in a semi final classic against minor premiers (and former Rebel Lachlan Drummond’s side) GSNDS.

Sent in, the Rebels made 8/159 from their 50 overs - a little underdone, but a handy score against a very sturdy and reliable bowling unit. The innings was peppered with plenty of 50-50s going GSNDS way; direct hits, catches inches from the fence, and a bizarre array of top edges. Elliott Bradley top scoring with his exceptional maiden Rebels 50, and Fred Woodgate bombing some late 6s to get the Rebels to a solid score.

Not to be outdone, the Rebels bowling was clinical against a batting lineup that had proved itself patient all year. Liam Waterworth and Fred Woodgate combined for 2/18 off the first 14 overs in the best display of partnership bowling we’ve seen all season. While GSNDS slowly began to steady - patiently looking for a weakness in the bowling depth - they were not anticipating Hurricane Hosko making land at second change. Removing a very solid Jobson the ball before drinks caught behind, before a flurry of 50-50s ran the way of the Rebels. Two batsmen bowled clipping the top of off stump, a full stretch diving catch from Jacob Derisz, Hosko snaring a caught and bowled as if he manifested a fast moving schooner, and Laurie Chan sealing the match holding on to a ball that spent more time in the air than Mel Lucas’ morning flight from the States.

The Grand Final v Edgemasters awaits on Saturday 6 April 2024. An email to all club members new and old will be sent out with details on ground and how to support the lads as they look for another Rebels Premiership!

Congratulations to Michael Stamos on his awards for a great season. Great to see you here in person picking up the trophies.

01/07/2023

What a great day to be a Nick! Nick Nittes passed 100 wickets for his career - claiming 2/0! While Nic Lochner passed 9,000 career runs - as the Rebels were victorious by 7 wickets in today’s winter cricket fixture.

30/06/2023

The Rebels AGM will be held on Sunday July 30 6:30pm in the Coogee Bay Hotel. Nominations for all Board positions can be made by way of notifying the Club by Sunday July 16 2023.

Rebels are Premiers!

CBRCC 5/139 (Lochner 45, Coutts 37*) def. Illawarra 138 (Madonis 3fa G. Nittes 3fa)

After 8 years between spells, the Rebels are champions! A see sawing match between the competition’s best!

25/03/2023

Rebels finish the day with Illawarra 8/87 off 43 overs. Rain stopped play at the evening drinks break. Illawarra will bat on for a maximum 10 overs tomorrow, before the Rebels look to chase down a total.

23/03/2023

Our 3rd Grade side takes on Illawarra in this weekend’s Grand Final at Booralee Park.

The teams were ranked first and second at the end of the regular season, and are 2-2 playing each other!

It’s going to be a ripper match, and we’d love to see current, former, and future Rebels down to support the lads.

This weekend, Saturday and Sunday 1.30pm at Booralee 1 opposite the Botany swimming pool.

REBELS MAKE IT 4 IN A ROW!
The Rebels and man of the match Raja Narayanan complete the four peat with a 4 wicket win over Chatswood in today’s grand final! What a way to bring it up, Karan Koul dispatching the ball over the fence with a monster, seeing the Rebels home with 5 overs to spare.

Job’s not done though, our second team is in action at Moore Park 4 from 10.30am tomorrow. Winner books a ticket to next weeks second grand final!

Is there a more iconic duo than Karan Koul and the bucket hat? Rebels win today’s winter minor semi final!

Next Saturday our 9s play in their major semi final, followed by 14s who have progressed to the Elimination Semi Final on the Sunday.

26/03/2022

We wish all sides the best of luck in Grand Finals this weekend (if they get on!)

Unfortunately our 5s went down in the Preliminary Final by 8 wickets to Penshurst West to round out the Rebels’ season. A swashbuckling 40 from first year Rebel, Karan being the highlight.

11/03/2022

Good luck to our 5th Grade in action tomorrow against Ramsgate RSL in the Qualifying 1 v 2 semi final in a one-day match at Bennett Park 1, Roselands (new location & format due to ground closures).

07/03/2022

The end of the regular season marks the end for 2 out of 3 sides.

A big congratulations to 5th grade who finished the regular season in 2nd place and have earned the right for a double chance, with the qualifying semi final this weekend against Ramsgate at Scarborough Park 10, played on Saturday & Sunday from 1.30pm under usual 2-day rules. The boys have been led with Navi, Chris Monger and Knoxy all averaging above 40, and with the ball- spoils have been shared with KJ heading the attack with able support especially in recent weeks by Karan and Channy hitting form at the right end of the season. If you can, hop on down to Monterey to support the boys. A win will see them straight into the Granny.

2nd Grade may not have won a game this season but did their best against the odds. Ruaan was the standout with the stick, with a couple of efforts almost seeing the boys over the line (very narrow losses pre-Xmas to Clovelly and Doncaster) which would have given the positive nourishment they needed to do a bit more damage in the latter half of the season.

It was another 'what could've been' season for 1s. Rain again acted as the enemy after last year's washout in the Prelim Final against Botany, as they didn't get a chance to get another win over De La Salle in a winner-takes-all knockout clash. Despite beating the three fancies De La, Botany and Clovelly during the season, inconsistency ultimately reigned supreme with the boys only having themselves to blame having to call upon 27 players this season for the 8 matches played, and only one batter making 200+ runs for the season.

There were some great highlights with centuries for Chris Monger (102) & Ruaan Jonker (144*), and Navi & Prez getting close on other occasions. With the ball, Ebi Shamsi (5/44 vs Clovelly) is the lone bowler so far to get a Michelle. Hopefully the 5s add to that over the finals campaign.

So a big thank you to everyone who has played a part with over 60 Rebels' players taking the field this season which is amazing for 3 sides. Of course the show isn't over with 5s a red hot chance of adding to our recent Winter Season silverware.

22/02/2022

It wasn’t the best weekend for the rebels, with each of our sides agonisingly going down in the second last round of the season. While there were a couple of tight losses, there was a selection of great performances.

1st XI 59 def by ICC 62
They always say the lowest targets are the hardest to chase and this was evident from Saturday. Bowling first and with the leader of the pack Matty Fortuin claiming a tidy 3-11, things were looking great. Karan on debut (2-9) and Ebi (2-fa) helped polish off a great innings for the rebels. Sam Stewart got 13 at the top of the order and nobody surpassed that in the tough chase. The boys now sit 5th but have a blockbuster showdown with 4th spot this weekend. Winner goes through!

2nd XI 79 def by Clovelly 2-81
Again the boys were in it but are yet to really fire as a whole group. Chris Rankin was valiant at the top with 29 but only two other batsmen reached double figures in setting the target. Tariq Haniff was tidy with ball in hand claiming 1-0 off a couple of overs. This week will be a good chance to finish the season on a high and have a bit of fun out there.

3rd XI 107 def by Ramsgate 118
With the minor premiership on the line, the boys could not have started any better. Laurie Chan had his best performance of the year with 2 early wickets and the figures of 2-24. Ben Wheldon cleaned up at the end with 2-7. Although catching wasn’t our strength this week we did see two run outs from Snowy and KJ which helped restrict the ladder leaders to a tough 118. The way the field played the score was on par with 150+. Knoxy (27), Chris (18) and Asfand (16) dug in and put the team in a good position. Unfortunately nobody else cracked double figures and the lads fell 10 short. All is not lost though as a good win this week and Ramsgate getting knocked off could have the boys back in top spot and put themselves in the best position leading in to finals which is already guaranteed.

Let’s pray the rain stays away but if not, we will see you all early at the bay

15/02/2022

The Rebels definitely had a mixed bag of results over the weekend with a win, a loss and a washed out draw. See how we travelled below.

1st XI draw against South Hurstville/Carss Park.
1s looked evenly poised going into the second week after Sam Stewart’s solid 62 at the top of the order. Unfortunately that’s where all the fun stopped as Saturday’s showers hung around for a while and no play was seen.

2nd XI (7-114) lost against ICC (5-193)
The boys did it tough with an undermanned team this week in their 1-dayer. Coutts stood out with the bat scoring an unbeaten 38. Nick wound back the years with a tremendous c&b which helped him claim the match figures of 3-43. Whilst the ladder may not show it, the lads are continuing to put up a fight each week and are seeing some solid individual performances as a result.

3rd XI (196) defeated Beverly Hills (122)
This match did not disappoint! After Navi (58) and KJ (43) help the side to a imposing first day score, it was always going to come down to how the weather played on Saturday. Whilst both teams pushed hard at each other, Coogee won the first session. We had them 3-8 (thanks to KJ and Karan) and then 5-19 (Dicko claimed 2 good ones) before Beverly Hills had a great 6th wicket partnership to hold off an outright scenario. The rain came and went and then came again but the points from this one were needed by both sides so not a soul left the ground. Once getting back on, KJ and Benny cleaned up the tail and claimed the win to see our boys sit at the top of the table. KJ 3-29, Karan 2-20, Dicko 2-20.

Two rounds to go, hopefully a couple of wins and our lads will be fighting in the finals.

09/02/2022

With 2s washed out, only 2 games on the weekend with some pretty positive batting performances.

1s- Rebels 176 (Stewart 62) vs South Hurstville Carss Park
After last week's 8-wicket loss, it was a tough proposition against the ladder-leader South Hurstville away at Carss Park 1- a ground many have not played at before. Winning the toss and opting to bat was a brave call but the boys did a great job putting a price on their wicket on a heavy field with inclement weather about. Sam Stewart was exceptional opening the batting for the first time with the Rebels with 62 in a vigil lasting 50 overs. He paced his innings perfectly- working hard early before freeing the arms with a rush of boundaries to make his maiden 50 for the Rebels. He had plenty of help with 6 teammates scoring between 10-20 with a rush of runs at the end meaning 176 is more like 250 on that field. A big bowling performance can see the Rebels with one foot into the finals.

5s- Rebels 196 (Jayasooriah 58, James 43, Weldon 30) vs Beverly Hills Eagles
It was another top 4 battle royale with the in-form Rebels facing their bogey side in Beverly Hills- this time at Moore Park. KJ at the top of the order again dug in well, forming valuable partnerships, as again Navind Jayasooriah reached 50. Going into the round as the 2nd leading batsman, he led the way beautifully with new addition, Ben Weldon also getting in on the fun. Runs on the board see the Rebels as solid favourites with a season-defining effort in the field coming up on the weekend.

28/01/2022

Some big games today in one-day fixtures kicking off at 1.30pm.

1st Grade (3rd) vs Botany (5th) @ Waterloo Park
