Looking for a smarter way to snack after a weight loss procedure? π€π½οΈ
Compare these two savoury snack options and see how making a few small changes can make a big difference in your calorie, fat, and sodium intake! πͺπΌπ₯
Instead of mindlessly munching on a bag of chips (which are low in protein and fibre, making them a slider food), try portioning out a handful of chips and pairing them with some protein (like Babybel cheese) and fibre (such as sliced veggies).
π§π₯ This snack will keep you fuller for longer while still satisfying that chip craving.

π Let's talk about when prioritising our health becomes "weird" to others.
Have you ever experienced pushback from friends or family when you choose to say no to alcohol, skip out on unhealthy foods, or increase your exercise routine? π

Did you know that fluids don't provide the same feeling of fullness as food after a weight loss procedure?
This means that if you're consuming several high-calorie beverages throughout the day, it could hinder your progress towards your weight loss goals. π₯π·πΉπΊπ₯€
If you're finding that your weight loss has slowed or stopped, one thing that can be worth while looking at is your fluids choices. π‘
ππ We are thrilled to celebrate the incredible health and weight loss journey of our amazing patient, Walter! ππΌ
"I took a life-changing step to have the ESG surgery. After the initial consultation with Dr Adrian Sartoretto and the team at BMI, I knew I was going to be in great hands.
5 months post-surgery, all is fantastic! I have hit all my goals a few months early with the help from the BMI team and my tailored program.
Dr Adrian and the team really care and make you feel part of a family and give you the support, guidance and encouragement you need.
My initial weigh in at 128kg to now 95kg and a massive 33+ cm lost. I continue to keep with the BMI plan and with a light moderate fitness program with F45, I continue to smash the weight loss and strip fat and build muscle.
I researched a few different surgeries and opted for the ESG. My decision was based on the minimal down time, recovery, high results of the ESG and the great reviews of Dr Adrian Sartoretto.
This life changing procedure has not just given me my confidence back but has taken away pain from my ankles, knees, hips and back. This has been the best decisions I have ever made."

Have you had a weight loss procedure?
If so, it's important to know that nutritional deficiencies are common, particularly when it comes to protein and calcium. But why does this matter? π€
Protein is essential for muscle repair and growth. A deficiency in protein can lead to muscle wasting, fatigue, and weakened immune function. Calcium, on the other hand, is crucial for bone health and nerve function. A deficiency in calcium can result in weakened bones, increased risk of fractures, and osteoporosis. π
Many people opt for plant-based alternatives to dairy productsπ₯π§ , which can be a great choice for those looking to reduce their animal product intake. However, it's important to note that many plant-based alternatives do not contain adequate amounts of protein and calcium. π
So, when choosing plant-based alternatives, make sure to select options that are fortified with protein and calcium. Here are 3 plant based milks we recommend trying as they either match or exceed the protein and calcium content in your standard cows milk.π

Are you looking for some snack inspiration that will help you reach your daily nutrient requirements? π‘
Choose wisely by opting for (mostly) whole foods like fruits, vegetables, and dairy products. After a weight loss procedure, aim for a snack that contains around 100 calories (420 kilojoules) and provides a source of protein and/or fibre to keep you feeling satisfied. π
Save these options for later and make smart choices for your health! π

π We are thrilled to share the incredible success story of our patient Sarah at the BMI Clinic! π
"For me, being obese became a βnormβ. This was just how I saw myself for my life and had somewhat accepted this. As I grew onto university I realised that I had issues and wanted to start trying to lose weight. I tried everything. Shakes, pills, gym, nutritionist, hypnotherapy, weight watchers, Jenny Craig, everything you can think of.
Prior to investigating [the gastric sleeve], I had heard that bariatric surgery was βan easy way outβ. I had very little knowledge of bariatric surgery, so I did my own research and booked in to the BMI clinic for some discussion. After meeting with the team I was super excited to start this journey. The thought of having a tool to help me lose weight was fantastic.
I have had to go down multiple sizes of clothes and underwear. I had a few achievements that were non scale related. I started jogging, which I was able to do without dying or feeling like I couldnβt breathe. I joined an 8 week challenge at my gym in which I won, which was a massive motivation boost. I also did a β25 push ups for 25 daysβ challenge to support su***de awareness in which I fully completed. I was able to choose different locations and complete my daily push ups, including up Mount Kembla in Wollongong.
These things I would never had considering doing pre op and probably wouldnβt have been able to complete. I found I was becoming more social, my confidence has continued to increase, and I feel fantastic."
If you are ready to follow in Sarah's footsteps and embark on your own transformational journey, then look no further! Our team of experts at the BMI Clinic is here to support and guide you every step of the way. ππΌ

Did you know that only around 4.2% of Australian adults meet their daily fruit and vegetable recommendations? πππ₯π₯¦π½π₯
As we eagerly await the warmer weather, it's the perfect time to start thinking about incorporating more fruits and vegetables into our diets.
Shopping for produce that is in season is not only a great way to support local farmers, but it can also save you money. Keep an eye out for sales on fresh fruits and veggies at your local grocery store or farmer's market. And don't forget about frozen options! They are just as nutritious as fresh produce and can be a more cost-effective way to get your daily servings of fruits and vegetables.

π Let's give a round of applause to our incredible patient Nicole for achieving amazing results with the gastric sleeve procedure! π
"My experience working with the BMI clinic was great at every step along the way. I felt that I could really trust all of the information and advice they gave me, and I felt valued and looked after the entire time. Every single staff member I have spoken to has been full of knowledge and very professional from day 1, and I have been working with the BMI clinic for 2 years now.
My motivation for contacting the BMI clinic was that my weight was affecting my life in a lot of ways and it was becoming impossible to do the smallest things without being in pain/feeling uncomfortable or embarrassed. I just could not control my eating and I felt like I was craving bad foods constantly.
I wasn't able to do the things I wanted to do in life, and I felt embarrassed of my size compared to all my friends and it held me back from so many things. I was also struggling to walk far, struggling to sleep, had sleep apnoea, diabetes and I just was not happy with my life. I felt generally unwell all the time.
The things that worked well for me to work towards my goals were listening to the advice from the staff at the BMI clinic. I followed their instructions and have gotten the results I wanted. The advice they gave me has set some strong habits that I still use today even 15 months out from my gastric sleeve surgery.
I can do anything I want to do comfortably and without pain. All my blood tests come back healthy and normal, and it just feels great."

Are you finding that after your weight loss procedure, coffee is replacing breakfast? β
While coffee is a popular morning pick-me-up, it's important to remember that it is not a meal replacement. π

You can enjoy the KicStart Cafe Latte shake as is, or if you need your caffeine fix, simply add a shot of coffee to it.π‘
πβ¨ Patient Success Stories πβ¨
π£ "From the start of the process the BMI Clinic was very helpful and informative with a fantastic team of people to work with to get to the bottom of my goal.
My process was about more than the weight it was about lifestyle and quality time with my children and the ability to get healthy enough to carry another baby.
In February of 2023 I had the Spatz balloon placed and started my journey.
Throughout the process I went from a size 24 to12 with the support of the team.
While it wasn't a smooth run whenever I was having issues, I knew I could call on the team to get advice on what was happening and knew what to expect at every turn.
Post removal I am the healthiest I have been in my adult life and continue to use the nutrition tips, exercise plans and strategies given to me to continue on my health journey.
I learnt more about how to listen to my body in those 12 months than I had in my life. Because this program doesn't teach what not to eat, it teaches how to eat in moderation and how to fully listen to your bodies cues.
These are things I will carry through with me on my continuing health journey." π£

Are you tired of experiencing a mid-morning energy slump and sugar cravings later in the day? It may be time to rethink your breakfast choices π©
Starting your day with a blood sugar spike can set a negative trend for the rest of the day. Combat this by choosing a breakfast that is high in protein and fibre. π
Savoury options like eggs, avocado, smoked salmon, and veggies are great choices for a balanced breakfast. If you're short on time, try preparing portable options in advance such as mini quiches or savoury muffins.
However, a "sweet' breakfast options doesn't need to set your blood sugar levels on a roller coast either. For cereal lovers, opt for a low sugar and high fibre option like Weetbix or rolled oats. Boost the protein content with high protein milk, Greek yogurt, or protein powder. π₯£
Add extra fibre with fruits, chia seeds, or LSA mix for a satisfying and nutritious breakfast. Finish off with a fun flavour boost like natural nut butter or cinnamon. π₯

Are you struggling to choose the right protein supplement? Look no further, we are here to guide you!
Protein is an essential macronutrient that our body needs for growth, repair, and overall function. πͺ It plays a crucial role in muscle development, immune system support, and maintaining energy levels. With 20 amino acids forming proteins, it's important to ensure you're getting the right balance of essential, non-essential, and conditionally essential amino acids.
When selecting a protein supplement, focus on the quality and completeness of the protein source. Complete proteins contain all essential amino acids and are typically found in animal sources like meat, chicken, eggs, and dairy, as well as plant-based options like soy, quinoa, and amaranth. Incomplete proteins lack at least one essential amino acid and are considered lower quality sources. π
If you're looking for recommended protein supplements, consider trying FeelGood Tasteless Protein or BN Pure Pro Tasteless Whey Protein. Both options are available on our online store, so click the link in our bio to explore and purchase the right supplement for you today. π₯
