Something you may not know is that every year, the Australian Cyber Security Centre releases an annual Cyber Threat report, where they give an overview of the trends and statistics relating to cybercrime from the year that was.

With their latest annual report published yesterday (15th of September), we wanted to give you a quick snapshot of some of the most important takeaways, so you can stay prepared for any cyber-threat that comes your way;

❌ There were over 67,500 cybercrime reports lodged last year, which is an increase of 13% from the previous year
❌ Approximately one-quarter of incidents affected entities associated with Australia's critical infrastructure (this includes banks, transport, communications and food organisations)
❌ Fraud, online shopping scams and online banking scams were the top reported cybercrime types
❌ An increase in the average severity and impact of reported cyber security incidents, with nearly half categorised as 'substantial'

What does all of this mean exactly? Well, to put it bluntly, no organisation is safe from a cyber-attack, and the likelihood of your organisation being targeted is increasing each day as this issue remains prevalent.
