The Pottery Shed
The Pottery Shed, by Joe Darling, offers affordable pottery classes and studio sessions in Surry Hills NSW. Price per class is $35.
Lessons are designed to teach beginning & intermediate wheel thrown pottery. Hand tools, electric wheels, local earthenware & stoneware clays, glazes and use of the electric kiln are included in class tuition. Please book and pay in advance.

Getting settled in and unpacking the last firing which included this gem. A terra-cotta green man from 1981 now glazed in a translucent glossy green. We’re pleased with these glaze results. -cotta #1981
This pretty much sums up an amazing day of cooperative help from inside and outside of our community putting the new studio together.
Thank you, Nicole, Amanda, Cris (also for this photo), Beam, Stella, Josh, Jack, Ceylon, and the beautiful people working as crane operators and on the de-construction team taking apart the old studio at 7 Nickson St.
Another full day to organize ahead here in-house and then we’ll be back in business.

Kurinuki style carved clay is one of our group workshops available. The process of stretching the carved surface is amazing to watch.

An underglaze decoration class last week. Combining techniques of wet and dry painting. Finished up with majolica style painting on white gloss glaze. Mavis White, the beautiful nonagenarian crafter’s flower patterned project shown here.

Here is an adorable oyster glazed ‘Vasio 2.0’ by Olivia. The covered lid fits with a traditional galley taught in our recent workshop.
