A bit of a personal post to welcome in the biggest change to import monky so far. For the length of its existence, it has always been a one person show; not to take anything away from the friends who have helped immensely over the years. A hobby-business that was focused on “trying my best” to import anything and everything I could for our friends and family.

As business grew and especially after those dark years of covid uncertainty, this was no longer feasible. The costs and headaches associated with importing containers and cars far outweighed the relatively simple joy that used to come with running this business.

Moving forward, we have decided to join forces with our close friends Vo and Dom. They are going to be pivotal in helping scale this business up to a level where we can provide a consistent and effective service to you. This way, we will be able to keep up with the ever increasing demand and add the necessary manpower to establish a new standard for import monky.

We will introduce ourselves properly very soon but for now, I have to let myself understand that its no longer a one man show but a theatrical production.

Yesterday we had our official launch. To be quite honest, the weeks leading up to it were difficult but seeing you all there having a great time more than made up for it. Despite the rain, there were nothing but smiles.

We will continue to work on our services until our operations are completely smooth and your experience with us memorable.

Seeing the heavens open up this morning did bring a sour feeling to our stomachs but man, did that not matter by the end of it.

According to Google, rain symbolises Life, Renewel and Spiritual Connection, but also good luck in asian culture for milestone events. I think as a team, all of us at import monky find this strongly relatable.

Thank you to each and every one of you for coming out and showing so much love. Knowing that most of you started as customers and have remained as good friends is something we cherish deeply.

New premises lease sorted!

We finally have a physical space to call HQ! On Saturday the 27th of July - we will open our doors to our friends and existing customers.

We are aiming for a space where the like-minded car enthusiasts will come together and chill in a 2000’s JDM themed space. A space where you can order anything from Japan while flicking through magazines and sipping on boss coffee!

Round one of container unpack!

The nature of most of our customers’ orders means everything needs to be carefully hand pick-packed. We’ve managed to clear round one of the parts container and cannot wait o start unpacking and fulfilling the orders starting tomorrow. There are still some parts that haven’t yet cleared customs but we are confident of getting it all through soon.

This year, we will be reassembling our tribute to 90’s rotary JDM in the form of this FC3S. The shell is in the process of getting a complete respray. Little bits of rust repairs and panel beating, especially around the sill area, to freshen up the tired chassis.

We will be restoring all the nostalgic modifications for reassembly. These include the knightsports cluster, Apexi external gated RH-6 turbo kit, greddy mechanical gauges, Tomei bucket seats, RE Amemiya mirrors, etc. brand new bushes and rubbers and some OEM+ modifications.

We come across some really cool and quirky vehicles through our contacts in Japan. This Carry was traded in by a farmer next to our yard in Saitama. The other car being an almost faultless but high mileage JZX100 Chaser we bought to use personally, but never happened.
