🎉 This year's Men's Health Week! We hosted a Men's BBQ where manor and Village residents came together to chat and connect, focussing on Men’s mental health 🗣️ Special thanks to Andrew Paech from Westcare for highlighting the importance of breaking the stigma around mental health through socialising and exercise. Andrew, who runs The Penrith Mens Walk & Talk, invited everyone to join this support group. Every attendee received a raffle ticket, and 14 lucky winners took home a Mens Walk & Talk beanie, socks, hat, or t-shirt with the inspiring message "Never Walk Alone." 🏆👕🧦🧢

🌟 Our residents showed off their baking skills at our Biggest Morning Tea event! 🍰 Ross Dobson from Café Royce held a blind taste test to find the best morning tea baked good of 2024.
🏆 Winner: Francesca Lustri with her Green Choko Cake – a 100-year-old recipe from Calabria, Italy, passed down from her mother.
🥈 Runner Up: Pamela Chamberlain with her deliciously chocolatey, not-too-sweet Lamingtons.
We announced our raffle winner 🎉 and thanks to our generous community, we raised over $795, and The Royce matched it, bringing the total to $1600. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed! ❤️

🌟 We had the pleasure of celebrating one of our residents here at The Royce, Nicole Celeban, who has been named a finalist in the 2024 NSW Seniors Local Achievement Awards for her remarkable contributions in Health and Wellbeing, and Community Service, notably through her devoted service with Nepean Therapy Dogs.

On Friday April 26, our local MP Karen McKeown presented Nicole with this prestigious award. Thank you to everyone who joined us as we recognised Nicole's outstanding contributions and achievements. 🎉

On Anzac Day, we honour the brave men and women who have served our country with courage and dedication. Today we will celebrate with our hearts filled with gratitude and respect for our heroes.

🌟 What a fun day at The Royce! Yesterday was all about giving back and having fun doing it! Jodie, from The Royce team, chopped off her locks for the World's Greatest Shave 💇‍♀️, hitting her $3,000 goal! 🎉 Then, Daryl and Barbara, along with The Royce social committee, presented a cheque to Panthers on the Prowl. The donation came from sales of honey that was harvested at the Royce by the residents. To top it off, we held a BBQ 🍔🌭 and listened to some old-time favourites performed by the Sunset Singers🎤 in celebration of Seniors Week. What a day of community, generosity, and fun!

- Learned techniques to consciously adjust your daily and nightly routines.
- Experienced the calming benefits of essential oils.

🌟 The Lions Club delivered our Christmas cakes this week and thanked the Royce for our ongoing support of the Emu Plains Lion Club. A heartfelt thank you to the Lions Club for their donation to The Royce Simmons Foundation. 🤝

The Westcare Christmas Appeal are providing hampers and gift packs in Penrith to high-need families identified by principals of local schools, Nepean Domestic Violence Network, Nepean Women’s Shelter, and Nepean Cancer Care Centre, among others. 🎁❤️

If you'd like to be a part of this initiative, consider purchasing a small gift for someone in need—male or female, young or old. The community are welcome to donate as well. 🎁✨ Simply place your wrapped gift under the tree in the foyer, noting the recommended age and gender on the package. A big shoutout to Dawn and Peter for winning the 'Best Dressed' title! 🏆👗🎩 But everyone looked glamorous and made it a tough competition.

The Royce had the pleasure of hosting the Jamison School Empowering Young Women's Group for a second time. After giving our Manor residents manicures and playing bingo during their first visit, this time, they dove into some coffee-making with Ross and Nathan from Royce Café. ☕

With big smiles, they learned the art of crafting barista-style coffee, all while discovering the pitfalls of milk frothing! 😄

Great to see the young women being empowered.

Harmony in the Making: Noro Music Intergenerational Study 🎶

The Royce is happy to be partnering with Noro Music Therapy for an Intergenerational Study! 🌟

This unique program is set to run for 10 weeks and brings together children aged 3-5 with our residents at the Royce. The study aims at examining how it may enhance the lives of all participants and encourage mutual respect and understanding between the children and our Residents.

We look forward to sharing the results with you as the weeks progress! 🎵
