Yesterday we had a visit from the Pacific Hills Junior School 'World Changers' group. The students sang songs, played games and played together in our NHCS play area. There were lots of smiles, laughter and joy expressed as the students interacted together.

This visit happened to also coincide with 'Crazy Sock Day' which raised money for local and international projects.

Both these events reinforced the values of compassion, kindness and service.

Class J1 enjoyed a visit to Featherdale Wildlife Park. The students had a chance to
hand feed some wallabies, pat a couple of friendly cows and have their photo taken with a koala.
It was a wildly exciting experience for the students.

Last week we celebrated our students at our New Hope Christian School Certificate Assembly. It was a wonderful event with parents, grandparents, and PHCS staff and student leaders joining us. The student awards recognised effort and achievement in various academic areas.

Mrs Dowson and Dr Boyce addressed the assembly and thanked parents for their partnership with our staff in support of the students. They also reflected on the compassion, care, and inclusivity which is at the heart of our school.

Today on Remembrance Day, New Hope Christian School community remembers the incredible sacrifice of every brave man and woman who served in the Australian Defence Force during World War 1. At the 11th hour of this 11th day of the 11th month we pause to honour the men and women who selflessly gave their lives to secure the freedom we cherish today.

As we remember the immeasurable sacrifice of our fallen heroes, their selflessness mirrors the profound love of Jesus, who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Today as we remember, let us carry forward this legacy with a deep sense of gratitude.

Lest we forget.

We are delighted to have one of our NHCS Year 12 students, Jed Perrin, celebrate his final year of school alongside PHCS students. At the final Senior School assembly Dr Boyce and Mr Francis encouraged our students about their God-shaped future.

Students were able to participate in the guard of honour, formed by Pacific Hills students which weaved around the campus and included balloons, cheering, endless clapping, colourful streamers, and music. The guard of honour was an expression of honour, excitement and respect for our NHCS and PHCS Year 12 Class of 2023. It finished with a special handshake from Dr Boyce. Jed Perrin participated in the walk-through along with his Pacific Hills fellow students. Students were greeted by their parents and friends proudly awaiting with blooms of flowers, confetti, balloons, and smiles.

May you flourish as God directs your steps. May the Lord bless you, keep you, make his face to shine upon you and give you his peace. Numbers 6:24-26

This term, our Year 4 and 5 students are participating in weekly visits to Riding for the Disabled. Riding for the Disabled is beneficial in developing social skills, muscle tone and fine motor skills and it is great to see the enjoyment it brings to the students each week. This experience is making some unforgettable memories for the students.
We love that God created animals to bring so much enjoyment and we are so glad our students loved this unexpected adventure.

As we turned the pages in the life of NHCS this week, our students made us smile as they excitedly celebrated Book Week. We love the way our young learners are impacted by the power of stories and how the relatable story characters help them learn and develop.

Students arrived at school, all dressed up in imaginative costumes inspired by their favourite storybook superheroes and fairytale characters. They had so much fun dressing up and playacting.

The official opening of New Hope Christian School was a joyous occasion as our guests gathered to give glory to God for this incredible facility and ministry.

Mark McCrindle, our Board Chair had the honour of officially opening the school. Dr Boyce delivered an encouraging and inspiring message as he shared the story of New Hope and the commitment to nurturing and developing students to become all God created them to be.

We were blessed to have esteemed dignitaries and community leaders Mr Julian Leeser MP and the Hon Matt Kean MP with us, each sharing their appreciation, support and commitment to New Hope.

We loved hearing the moving testimonies of two family members whose children had been through New Hope. Mr Ross Hutchings and Mrs Alison Neil both shared how much they valued New Hope in the education of their children.

Our students and teachers were present to serve, greeting guests and providing musical items.

We give thanks to God for the incredible ministry of New Hope Christian School and all God has done to enable this to be a vibrant community of grace and Christian education for children with a mild to moderate level of intellectual delay and/or ASD.

God created culture and diversity for us to enjoy. Today our students enjoyed participating in the Indigenous Infusion program giving them insight into Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures. The program was highly interactive, and children enjoyed the storytelling, digeridoo, music and dance.

As we celebrate NADIOC Week this week, we affirm that all people are created in God’s image with dignity and the capacity to be culture makers, designed to participate in His story: to accomplish His purposes together in community, with exquisite creativity.

The 2023 NADIOC Week theme is “For Our Elders”. 1 Timothy 5:1-3 exhorts us to honour, respect, care for, and give recognition to the older people in our communities. For they have created history, they are our role models, their stories are rich, they pass on traditions, and they are the pillars of community.

Join us as week acknowledge NADIOC Week across Australia to celebrate the history, culture and accomplishments of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander brothers and sisters who have made a significant contribution to Australian communities. We honour you.

NADIOC 2023 – For Our Elders.

We got a little bit used to hearing the words “so long, farewell” with our Sound of Music musical this year. However, as Term 2 closes we are so thankful to God for the wonderful students, teachers, staff and families in our school community. We are also thankful for everything that has been accomplished in Term 2.

At our end of term 2 assembly today, we honoured Mr Waters as an exceptional leader in our community and wished him God’s blessing for his future days. Thank you, Mr Waters, for your faithful service.

We will miss our students being around over the next few weeks and we wish everyone a restful and enjoyable term break. So long and farewell for now and see you all after the holidays.

Our event “Riding the Waves of Hope” with Derek Rabelo, the world’s only blind professional surfer, was an inspirational evening. So many of our families joined us for this special community event.

We were incredibly blessed to have our talented senior dance students from OneMaker Academy performing some remarkable dances. Additionally, the musical entertainment for the evening was provided by our gifted school jazz band.

Derek shared his story of courage, resilience, perseverance, and hope at our twilight event. Derek also spoke at our Middle School and Senior School assemblies and inspired our students to never lose hope and to always stay anchored in God no matter what life may bring. Psalms 62:5-8.

Thank you to everyone who has been on the journey with Pacific Hills and New Hope Christian Schools. We value and appreciate your ongoing support.

The Music Camp Concert this week was a melodic tapestry of vibrant notes coming to life in a web of sound and filling every corner of our MPC. It sounded a lot like Psalm 150 “praise God with the strings, trumpets, resounding cymbals, guitars, a big bass drum, flutes, singing and dancing” as our students expressed their musical gifts in a concert which was the culmination of the musical highlights from music camp. What a blessing to all who attended.

Thank you to our OneMaker Academy team along with our teachers and mentors for their dedication and commitment to develop the musical abilities of our students.

Photos from New Hope Christian School's post 05/06/2023

Some of our students attended music camp last week and joined their fellow Pacific Hills students in “making a joyful noise to the Lord”. It was a treat to hear the musical sounds and notes dancing across the Galston campsite with sweet melodies turning the venue into a vibrant hub of musical creativity.

It has been an incredible experience to witness our students developing their musical gifts and collaborating as they prepare for the upcoming Music Camp Concert. A passion for music was clearly a melodic theme streaming through the instrument tuition, ensembles, vocals and bands.

The grand finale of our music camp is the upcoming Music Camp Concert which will be the culmination of the hard work of our students, teachers and tuition mentors. It’s just around the corner and we hope you can join us on 13 June, 6-8pm in the MPC on the Pacific Hills campus site. It promises to be a concert to remember. See you there.

Imagine riding the world’s greatest waves being blind! Derek Rabelo is a world-renowned professional surfer, and his story is one of courage, resilience, faith and hope.

Born with congenital glaucoma that impacted his vision in the first days of his life, Derek did not fail to pursue his call and dream which has made him one of the world’s most inspiring young sportsmen at age 29. Derek has travelled to more than 25 countries and surfed some of the most challenging and monstrous waves around the globe, such as Pipeline (Hawaii) and the giant of NazarĂ© (Portugal), overcoming all the obstacles in his path.

Derek’s passion and faith in God have seen him make it to the top of his surfing career. We have the privilege of listening to Derek’s story and we hope you can join us on 9 June for this twilight event from 4:00pm-6:00pm. Register with the QR code. Places are filling fast. Come along for some great connection, food and entertainment presented by our students who will use their gifts to serve us for this special occasion.

Derek is also coming to Senior School Assembly and Middle School Assembly on 9 June.
