“Dad is living with dementia with Lewy bodies and Parkinson’s and something we do together is go swimming.
“The best thing about it from my point of view, is that it’s a really joyful thing we can do together" - Hamish Macdonald, Dementia Australia Ambassador and journalist.
Ahead of Father's Day our newest Dementia Australia Ambassador Hamish Macdonald shares one of his favourite things to do with his dad.
“He’s always been an incredibly active man, he was a rower in his early days, cross-country skiing, bushwalking, marathons," Hamish said.
“Over the past few years we’ve been going to Bronte Beach in Sydney, there’s an ocean pool there.
“It means our relationship isn’t just consumed by all the health stuff going on in his life.”

We want to ensure you stay safe from fraud. Scammers are tricking individuals into buying gift cards under the guise of urgent payments or prize fees, then stealing the codes.
Remember, no reputable bank or company will ever ask you to make payments via gift cards.
If you encounter such a scam, hang up the phone, block the contact, and report it immediately. Spread the word to keep your community aware and protected. Stay vigilant and safeguard your finances!

Check out Maggie Beer's recipe for bacon, silverbeet, chickpea and cheese muffins!
Ingredients:
350g unsalted butter
1 (100g) onion, peeled and finely diced
1/4 teaspoon sea salt flakes
8 turns ground black pepper
100g good quality bacon, finely chopped 2g lemon thyme
100g silverbeet, leaf & stem, finely chopped (Maggie loves the texture the stem gives)
350g unsalted butter
1 (100g) onion, peeled and finely diced
1/4 teaspoon sea salt flakes
8 turns ground black pepper
100g good quality bacon, finely chopped 2g lemon thyme
100g silverbeet, leaf & stem, finely chopped (Maggie loves the texture the stem gives)
Method:
1. Preheat a fan-forced oven to 200c, grease 16 muffin holes.
2. Place the butter into a medium pan, add the onion and salt and cook on low until soft and transparent.
3. Increase the heat, add the bacon and thyme, cook for 2-3 minutes, stir in the chopped silverbeet, and cook until wilted, remove from heat.
4. In a large bowl, sieve the flours and baking powder, stir in the grated cheese.
5. In a second bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.
6. Stir the egg mixture into the flour and then fold in the cooked bacon mix.
7. Scoop 60g into the well-greased muffin holes and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25minutes or until golden and cooked. Rest on a wire rack, best served warm.
Wishing our wonderful Finance Manager Lin the most amazing Birthday. As you can see I think we have had too much cake, so why not have a lovely cheese platter instead!💜
