I know everyone is moaning about it... But... The weather?!!??
Anyone else's kids struggling? It's the constant flip flop between warm and cold. I guess it more affects our children that have dysautonomia issues.
Mine are also finding it difficult when it's hotter as it makes using a heat pad really difficult, and that's when I suddenly realised that is the go to pain reliever for all of us. Ice doesn't feel the same, although sometimes cold can definitely help - especially for nerve pain.
Any tips for those that normally use heat for pain relief in hot weather?
Are you doing enough?
Come and speak to our Exercise Physiologists today.
This is not about minimizing or downplaying your pain, but rather REFRAMING the way you speak to yourself about it. The messages and narratives you send to your brain are the most influential ones.
Here's an example of how you can choose words that will send a message of safety to your nervous system OR messages of fear when describing your experience:
"I am in so much pain and agony"
vs
"I'm less comfortable than I'd like to be"
Which one do you think will influence your brain and nervous system to respond more calmly, with less pain signals?

āNext year, I will relay! This year, I was busy making memories on a short family holiday before my last round of chemotherapy for triple positive breast cancer. I was fortunate enough to āstumbleā upon Brentās talk about cancer recovery at my local breast cancer support group and I can tell you with great confidence, that Iāve told anyone and everyone, just how life-changing exercise (and understanding the bodyās response to cancer) has been in the short months that I have been attending Peak Health.
Iāve been very active all my life. Iāve played various sports growing up, danced professionally, studied dance at university and still teach dance... But, I had a child and forgot the importance of exercise for ME. I am slowly rediscovering the love I forgot I had for exercise and in that process, Iām aiding my cancer recovery both physically and mentally. I have seen almost immediate improvements in my chemo symptoms and I know Iām in a better place in my recovery because of exercise. I have now finished chemo. I head into radiation in 2 weeks. I am SO excited at the prospect of coming back bigger and better, fitter and stronger. I feel like I have a secret weapon up my sleeve and this secret to fighting back that people need to hear about. Next year, I will relay as part of my fight back against cancer!!ā

Great post from our friends at Due North Psychology. The benefits of Exercise for both Physical and Mental Health
As we transition from warmer weather to autumn, many people experience shifts in mood. What happens to our minds? The shorter days and reduced exposure to sunlight can trigger low mood.
Exercise, especially during the autumn, can release endorphins ā those delightful āfeel-goodā chemicals in the brain.āÆEndorphinsāÆare natural mood lifters, reducing stress, anxiety, and depression. The result? You can face those gloomy, overcast days with a smile.
As you lace up your sneakers and step out into the crisp autumn air, your brain gets a boost of some of its favourite chemicals. Endorphins, those marvellous neurotransmitters, flood your system, reducing stress and anxiety while increasing feelings of pleasure. Serotonin, another neurotransmitter, is also released during exercise. Itās often called the āfeel-goodā chemical because it improves mood and well-being.
Retraining the Brain and Body by building new habits. Letās start today. Call today to make a start 95245180
Most chronic pain is a HABIT the brain has developed. š§
To break this habit, it's important to learn the tools and exercises that will create NEW neural pathways via new behaviors, responses, and language around pain.
Retraining the brain IS possible. Healing IS possible. And YOU can do it. šŖ
It's easy to believe that your body is working against you, is in some kind of danger, or is broken when you suffer from chronic pain or symptoms.
Things take a positive turn on your healing journey when you understand how chronic pain works, and that it is a protection mechanism. Remember, every day your brain and your body are working very hard to keep you alive and safe.
Thank you everyone who has kindly Donated today ā¤ļø.
