Predicted lineup for tonight’s Australia Cup clash against Lions FC.
Expect a few inclusions from our last cup clash and hopefully some minutes for Kraev off the bench!
🔴⚫️
Squad update as of 11th of August, currently we’ve only signed 2 players and both are foreigners in Kraev and Jeong leaving us with 2 available visa spots. Keep in mind too that we have only seen the boys in action once so far and I am judging off that game alone that the lineup looked as though the wingers did roam and become inverted 10s at times so I think once Kraev comes in it will suit the style more. What are your thoughts so far?
Predicted lineup for tomorrow night vs Brisbane City. Keep in mind we are yet to see how Staj wants us to play and we haven’t made any signings except for Kraev at this point.
How do you think we will go tomorrow night and who are you most looking forward to seeing?
Seeing as we have viewed a host of departures since the end of last season, I thought I’d try and do a quick update on the current team/ squad. A few quick notes, this is based off of the transfermarkt website and of course players could not be added yet. Also Milanovic is not apart of the team or squad as he rumoured to be going overseas after such a strong year last year, however it would have to be the right price for us.
Extra squad members:
Taiga Harper (GK)
Jack Gibson (GK)
Ruon Tongyik (CB- also not sure what’s happening with him)
Anthony Pantazopoulos (CB)
Nathan Barrie (CB)
Dylan Scicluna (LB/ RB/ CM)
Gabriel Cluer (RB/ CB/ CDM)
Oliver Bozanic (CM- Interested to see what happens with him considering he was on loan on Perth with Staj last season)
Luka Knezevic (CM)
Aydan Hammond (RW/ LW)
Zach Sapsford (ST)
Alex Badalato (RW/ CAM/ LW)
Seeing as the seasons over let’s have a look at who we should keep, sell and loan across the squad.
Part 1
Keepers-
Lawrence Thomas- KEEP
He’s an above average A league keeper and has proven himself as our first choice time and time again, locked in as far as I’m concerned.
Daniel Margush- SELL
Whenever he’s come in for Lawrence she’s shown what he can do. However if an offer came in for him I wouldn’t say no because we’ve got 2 young keepers coming through ready to fill in.
Jack Gibson- KEEP
He only got the 1 opportunity prior to injury, however the club and Rudan clearly rate him enough to pick him ahead of Margush.
Taiga Harper- LOAN
Did well enough in his short stint to show some potential but won’t get any game time with 2 keepers in front of him, better off keeping him as a backup for when Thomas leaves OR retires.
Predicted lineup for tomorrow nights clash against CCM.
Thomas has been named in the squad and if he is fit enough will start, however if he fails then Margush has returned from his concussion and is available.
Expect if Kittel doesn’t start to get more minutes then last week as he is only on loan for the remainder of the season.
Another positive addition is Bonetig however if he is not fit Grdic has been included as cover as well as Pantazopoulas.
If the coaches do not think Borello is right to start then expect either Badolato or Brook to start instead.
Apart from the suspensions the forward line is looking dangerous and if we can nab an early goal there is a massive chance to edge the gap on the mariners and other teams above us. Come on you Wanderers! 🔴⚫️
Predicted lineup for tomorrow nights clash against Western United 🔴⚫️
Bench:
Gibson
Grdic
Milanovic

Hopefully a more attacking performance this weekend from the boys and we get a first win of the season!
Predicted lineup for Sunday afternoons opener against the Nix! 🔴⚫️

Hendrix
Borrello

Let’s get keen for this season wanderers family, last year was a massive step up from seasons past and we need to keep the momentum into this year!
Mental to think we won a Champions League against this team, now they are spending 100 million euro on players.
Predicted lineup for tonight’s round of 32 Australia Cup clash against Floreat Athena. Expect Rudan to use a few of the kids off the bench as well. So pumped to get our Wanderers back on! 🔴⚫️
Western Sydney talent to headline club's 2023/24 Adidas Kit launch - Western Sydney Wanderers Together with The Area Movement, the Western Sydney Wanderers will be hosting a number of talented artists at the clubs kit launch at Wanderers Fives this Friday night.
New striker.
Wanderers sign Swedish striker Antonsson - Western Sydney Wanderers Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today confirmed the signing of Marcus Antonsson for the next two A-Leagues seasons.
Great to see us winning consistently, squad looks tougher than in a long time. Should finally see us make the playoffs and we have a punchers chance at winning a trophy.
Great result by Wanderers, 3 home games in a row coming up. Melbourne derby can do us favours next week too. Rudan has recruited well, plenty of boys not afraid to throw down for our colors.
1-0 HT, been strong after a wobbly start. Save the air swing Yengi has been great, looks a footballer. Nieuwenhof full of running and Borello strong throughout.
Great work lads!
Victory away has been a problem for WSW for years. It is early days in the A League premiership and we need to win games like this. Been too long without a trophy.
Updated version after new signings
Squad update from early July and based on how Rudan was lining up last season, thoughts?
PLEASE SHARE THIS AROUND IF YOU AGREE***
I know this may sound weird considering our early season form (1 win, 2 draws, 1 loss) but the form, style of play, and general approach by the coach is the final nail in the coffin for his time at the club. Tonight you could tell that the decisions he has made is not creating a winning mentality or a cohesive game plan. We as a club cannot dwindle on this decision because this season is a make or break, you get the feeling that if we don’t succeed we will start to lose more and more members and what we held so dear at the start of our lifetime as a club. We need someone with tactics and direction to get the best out of a squad which should be challenging for a top 4 spot, Carl Robinson is simply not the right man to take us forward, enough said.
If this result doesn’t change I think this just proves that Robbo isn’t the man we need
Robinson should be disgusted with himself, that lineup from him and the performance from the players is utterly abysmal!
Al Hilal have just won the Asian Champions League, I still remember watching the home leg at Wanderland when Juric scored. That we haven't won a trophy in any competition since is a joke. Time the board invested in quality, we should have a hat full of trophies since 2014.
So after a few recent signings including Ogawa and Mejias, we’ve decided to have a look at our current squad depth, what do you think? 🔴⚫️
The classic is back!
👍 Take my money
😡 Not for me
A few months ago we posted a predicted strongest XI, since then we’ve made a few signings and more so here’s an updated version…
Keep in mind also that we still have 3 visa spots available and could strengthen the team further
Bench:
Janjetovic (if recovered from injury/surgery)
Natta
Russel
Baccus
Ibini
Yeboah
Aqualina

Quick transfer rumour roundup for your Saturday most likely in lockdown!
- Former Wanderer Chris Ikonomidis looks set to reject Perth and Victory to join
- Jordan Mutch is allegedly rejecting the clubs offer to join rivals MacArthur
- Former Victory and Glory defender, Rhys Williams, looks to set to join after a stint in Saudi Arabia
- Former Wanderer, Victory and Sydney player Terry Antonis is rumoured to be joining
- Recently released Jet Johnny Koutroumbis is rumoured to be joining
- We have also been linked to another former Wanderer in Nikita Rukavytsya with a potential return (this is the weakest of all the rumours so far)
Lots to go through, what do we think so far? 🔴⚫️
It is now official! Thoughts and feelings?
🔥Welcome Tomer Hemed!
We are proud to announce the signing of Tomer Hemed for the upcoming A-League season: https://wsw.football/Hemed
Massive if true! Despite a slow start, Hemed would go on to score 11 in 21, which is an above average rate especially for a striker in their first season in a new league. Would you like this signing if it came true?
Here are 2 possible lineups so far based on the current players who have not been included in either the departures list or apart of the rumour mill.
Players not included:
Baccus (rumoured to be going to Europe for a large offer)
McGowan (rumoured to be getting multiple offers from Indian super league clubs)
Kamau (rumoured to be off to Greece)
Duke (preferring to stay overseas in his last big move)
Mutch (was on a short team deal and yet to renew)
Departed players:
Muller
Ziegler
Grozos
McDonald
Dorrans
Note: the 4-3-3 formation does not include another CM as we currently do not have another midfielder signed with Dorrans leaving.
