Follicle Tracking Ultrasound
Ovarian follicles are tiny fluid-filled sacs within the ovaries that play a crucial role in hormone secretion. In women, these follicles are present from puberty, numbering between 300,000 to 400,000.
Each follicle contains an oocyte, although these are too small to see. The count and quality of follicles are vital for pregnancy prospects.
Follicle tracking via ultrasound and hormonal tests helps monitor their development, enabling fertility experts to predict ovulation timing, making it an essential tool for natural conception or assisted reproductive procedures like IVF.
Our calendar is a valuable tool for tracking your ovulation and optimal conception days.
It also highlights the ideal dates for your gynaecological examinations at Ultrasound Care, ensuring you stay on top of your health and family planning.

Pelvic scans are essential for diagnosing issues in women, from young girls to post-menopausal women, addressing concerns like pain, bleeding, infertility, and more.
For the most accurate results, schedule your pelvic ultrasound between days 5 and 10 of your menstrual cycle, with day 1 being the first day of your period. Pelvic ultrasounds help evaluate various pelvic structures, including the uterus, ovaries, adnexa, and va**na.

Down syndrome is a chromosome abnormality characterised by having three copies of chromosome number 21 instead of the typical two.
This condition can result in varying degrees of intellectual disability and may lead to physical issues like heart defects, hearing, or vision problems. While all women have a risk of having a baby with Down syndrome, the likelihood increases with the mother's age.
In New South Wales, approximately 1 in 700 babies is born with Down syndrome. Awareness and support are essential for families navigating this condition.
A dating scan is a pivotal ultrasound procedure aimed at determining the gestational age of a pregnancy.
While this scan helps pinpoint the due date, it offers additional valuable insights. It can reveal the number of fetuses, the presence of a heartbeat, and assess the size of the fetus to estimate its age. Additionally, the scan may uncover uterine features, like shape or the presence of fibroids. Dating scans are instrumental in providing crucial information for a healthy pregnancy journey.

Expecting a baby? It might be time for a Morphology scan.
Around 19-20 weeks, this ultrasound offers detailed views of your baby's limbs and internal organs. It's commonly known as the ""Morphology"" or ""Anomaly"" scan. Trust Ultrasound Care for this vital examination in your pregnancy journey.
It's mostly a fact. Ultrasound is typically performed externally.
However, in specific situations, like some gynaecological or pregnancy ultrasounds, a transva**nal approach might be necessary for better visualisation. So, while ultrasound is generally non-invasive, there are exceptions where a more internal approach may be needed for accurate diagnostics.
Please note that Ultrasound Care will be closed in observance of the King's Birthday.
We will take this time to rest and recharge, and we look forward to serving you with renewed energy when we reopen.
Have a wonderful King's Birthday break!

Tubal Patency Testing (HyCoSy) for Fertility.
HyCoSy, or hystero-salpingo contrast sonography, is a vital diagnostic technique employed by the Ultrasound Care team. This procedure serves as a 'tubal patency test,' checking the openness of the Fallopian tubes, a crucial factor in fertility.
Numerous factors, including pelvic infections, endometriosis, ectopic pregnancies, or prior surgeries, can cause tubal blockage, impeding conception. HyCoSy, conducted through transva**nal ultrasound and a contrast agent, provides valuable insights into tubal health. It's a key tool in assessing and addressing fertility issues, helping couples on their path to parenthood.

✔️In the lower back
✔️When passing urine
✔️When opening the bowels
✔️During in*******se
✔️During internal examinations
✔️Infertility, heavy, or irregular periods, and bleeding from the bowel may also be associated with endometriosis.

Ultrasound Care turns 21
Ultrasound Care began way back in 1996, in a single borrowed consulting room at the RPA Medical Centre in Newtown.
Dr Philippa Ramsay was an obstetrician/gynaecologist who sub-specialised in ultrasound. She had worked in other private ultrasound practices and as the first female O&G Ultrasound specialist in Sydney, she could see how it could be done better, with more understanding of the women's needs.
She was well supported by her colleagues who wanted their patients treated with sensitivity and care. She became busier and was soon joined by highly skilled sonographers and specialists who had a similar ethos.
The sonographers Mary McPhail and Rowena Gibson are still at Ultrasound Care 20 years later!!
