Huge thanks to our Australian instructors that made this event so special - Steve Andrews Sensei and Harry Sensei 7th Dan.

Congrats to all our students, for many of whom this was their first competition. Training hard, making new friends and improving our karate was the aim of the weekend! Ticked all 3 boxes..

Congratulations to our Five Dock students that trained and graded this week with Nemoto Sensei. Super proud of you all. Oss! Thank you to our parents and supporters that enable the clubs existence and of course to TSKFA for the structure that provides international world class instruction to be available for small clubs like ours here in the suburbs os Sydney. Remembering an incredible man who dedicated his life to karate and left us all a legacy of educational material …

Today marks the 3rd anniversary of the passing of Sensei Hirokazu Kanazawa.
A direct student of Masatoshi Nakayama (and eventually of Gichin Funakoshi), Hirokazu Kanazawa was a major contributor to the development of the Japan Karate Association (JKA) in its early days.

His audacious conquests and idealizations consequently gave him the fame of being one of the most renowned Karate instructors of the contemporary era, being decorated by the International Martial Arts Federation (IMAF) as the first in the history of Shotōkan Karate to reach 10th Dan while still alive! This invaluable prestige conferred by Yasuhisa Tokugawa himself (great-grandson of the last Shōgun of Japan) added to the international acclaim that Hirokazu Kanazawa conquered, guaranteed him, in the opinion of many, the status of Sōke, the highest authority in Shotōkan Karate!

Five Dock Dojo had a weekend of training with our sister club TSKF Coolah Karate Club. Thanks to Brett Sensei and his wife Cindy for hosting us. Congrats to all the students who did so well. Many of whom had their first competition! Preparation for our Nationals in March In Adelaide.

Trips away provide an excellent opportunity to focus on technical improvement, foster deeper connections with fellow students and parents and create lasting memories, build new friendships and enjoy many laughs.. we had an excellent time. I want to acknowledge the support from our karate parents for their support to make events like this possible!!
