Our homemade cordials aren’t just deliciously refreshing, but also make great mixers for cocktails. One of our Facebook followers, Chrishani, created this gorgeous margarita using Lime & Chilli Cordial made by Vice President, Kaye McIntyre. “I like my margarita on the sweeter side, so this cordial is a great substitute for lime sugar syrup,” Chrishani said.
Keep an eye out for our mouth-watering cordials at our next market stall, at Carriageworks on Saturday, October 26. You can also stock up on our range of jams, marmalades and savoury preserves.
Celebrate spring at Carriageworks this Saturday, September 28, by stocking up on our new season’s preserves and cordials. Amid birthday party pony rides and fairy costumes, Sydney City members donned their aprons on Sunday and got to work making produce for our stalls at farmers’ markets. The tang of grapefruit and the sweet summer smell of passionfruit wafted through the air at North Sydney Community Centre as grapefruit marmalade and passionfruit cordial was boiled and bottled. The day was led by Cookery Officer, Jeannette Tran, who brought along her delectable homemade honey cake for afternoon tea.
Our next stall will be held at Carrriageworks on Saturday, September 28. Carriageworks is at 245 Wilson St, Eveleigh, and the market will run from 8am to 1pm.

Sydney City CWA Branch is advocating for ongoing action to help prevent gender-based violence against women in NSW. This will be highlighted during CWA Awareness Week, which runs from September 1 to 7.
Alicia Kell, Sydney City Branch President (pictured), said the community was outraged at the spike in the number of women killed by their intimate partners. “We represent 8000 women across NSW and the ACT, and we believe it’s important to keep applying pressure on policymakers around improved support and protections for victims,” Alicia said.
The association is also keen to involve men in this year’s campaign. “It’s up to all of us to take action against violence when we see it, and speak up on the use of violent or oppressive language or comments. When we all stand together, that’s when we’ll start to see meaningful change,” Alicia said.
This year, the CWA of NSW is partnering with Domestic Violence NSW, the peak body for specialist domestic and family violence services in NSW, and The Men’s Table, a non-profit organisation that provides opportunities for men to meet and talk about issues in their personal lives, with the ethos, ‘Healthy Men, Healthy Masculinities’.
“These organisations are doing so much to initiate positive changes in our society that can ultimately lead to fewer incidents of this senseless violence,” Alicia continued. “With their support this Awareness Week, we hope to continue the conversation around gender-based violence and find the resources and strategies to turn these terrible statistics around.”
Come and celebrate the first day of spring and Father’s Day with Sydney City CWA at Concord Rotary Farmer's Market this Sunday, September 1. You can also treat him to our famous freshly baked scones and homemade jam – or a colourful hand-knitted beanie, perfect for wearing to the footie.
Our handicrafters have also been busy making Christmas decorations, crocheting hand towels and decorating linen shopping bags.
The market will be held at Cintra Park car park in Crane St, near Concord High School, from 8:30 to 12:30. There’s always plenty of parking. Come and say hello!

The CWA of NSW is opposed to the Narrabri Gas Project that threatens prime agricultural land and the precious water table of the Great Artesian Basin. Last year, State President, Joy Beames, led CWA members from across NSW in Sydney’s Stop Coal Seam Gas Rally, along with Gomeroi traditional owners, farmers, conservationists and unionists.
They marched to NSW Parliament House, where last week, Legislative Council Member, Jeremy Buckingham, moved a Bill to protect the Liverpool Plains from coal seam gas mining. Joy Beames, CWA CEO, Danica Leys, and other CWA members, including Sydney City Branch, were in the public gallery to watch the debate.
The Bill was unsuccessful when the Labor Government joined forces with the Liberal-National Coalition to vote against it, after Mr Buckingham and two Greens MLCs spoke passionately in favour.
Jeremy Buckingham said afterwards that the decade-long fight was not over. “We won’t stop until we’ve won. Farms not coal,” he said.
Pictured: After the vote, this photo was taken on the steps of Parliament House of the CWA members, farmers, Narrabri locals and Gomeroi people who packed the gallery.
