BOWLS NEWS FOR AUGUST
Many thanks to all of the bowlers who attended the recent funerals of Peter Enright, Rhona Smith and Dorothea Sheen. Let’s hope we see happier days in the future.
Midweek Pennants start this week and the teams are up on the board for round one against Hamilton North. Please check to see if you are selected.
Congratulations to Ned Allan on defeating Fred Rimoni in the consistency final. A good quality game as we would expect from these two opponents of our game.
The next championship to be played will be the pairs so check the board for the draw.
Don’t forget that nomination forms are on the wall for the Bowls Committee so all who have wingers this is your chance.

THE GREYS NEWS
A special big thank you to all the Greys who attended Dorothea's Funeral. It was great to see those white Jackets scattered around the Chapel.
The 11th August will see us travelling to Soldiers Point to play with our good friends from Nelson Bay Diggers. The sheet is up and we will run a bus. Cost if by Car $10 and $20 by Bus. Absolute bargain. Let me know ASAP if you want to go.
Nomination sheets out for our AGM soon.
We have been approached by Stockton Bowling Club Travelling Bowlers for visits in 2025 - I think we will take up the offer more on this later.

A great effort from Brad & Dorothy today playing in the State Rookie Pairs they started off with a win over Belmont 10 to 6 then we played the boys from Nelson Bay where we needed 4 on the last end to win by 1 but we were only able to get 2 shots to loose by 1 We were sitting 1st on the ladder before going into our last game...our last game didn't start well dropping a 6 on the 1st end. Brad played very well for someone who has only been bowling for 11 weeks and Dorothy is improving and did a great job as the skip. We did Hexham proud..
Today the Club Championship Mixed Pairs final was played between Ned Alan, Paula Au & Leigh & Dorothy Povey we saw a great game between both sides with the score ending up 22 to 14 after 20 ends to Leigh & Dorothy Povey. Congratulations to all...
