R + D Day
Because I am a total coffee nerd probably with a bit of OCD🤣 I have just purchased a colour sorting machine. This is another piece in the puzzle to achieving excellence and also making my life a whole lot easier! For 15 years now I have sat and hand picked the Quakers (light coloured underdeveloped coffee beans) out of each batch of coffee. Previously only being able to hand sort about 250g of Quakers out of about 120kgs of coffee I now out of todays test batch expelled 1kg of rejected lighter undeveloped coffee representing 4 times more than I previously could do on my own, which ultimately is going to make for a more premium consistent product to my customers with no extra price tag🙌🏼
The Colour Sorting Machine has two cameras and a heap of channels of compressed air holes. As the coffee falls past the cameras they detect the colour of each bean and in a micro second a puff of air is sent to the exact spot to expel the rejected lighter undeveloped coffee bean.

Oooooppssss…..when you accidentally mix decaf and regular coffee in the de-stoner! 🤦🏻♀️😝😂
But not all is lost…..it actually taste great as an espresso! The citrus tones of the Ethiopia mixed with the rich earthy tones of the decaf are giving a citrusy rich, joyful, explosion in my mouth 🙌☕️
