At NQ Quality Care our people are our most valued asset.

We believe Quality Care starts with Quality Support and Onboarding Training for our staff working with our NQ Quality Care Participants.

NQ Quality Care welcomed our new staff members on board this week with an introduction and orientation ran by our Operations Manager Sarah.

Starting the organisation with 7 staff members, to now having 90 active Quality Care Workers that get the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the people we support is an absolute privilege and pleasure.

We had an absolutely delightful morning with some of our participants and our wonderful friends at BeLoved Home Care for a whimsical Mad Hatter Tea Party! ☕️🎩

We sipped tea, played fun games, and indulged in way too much delicious food! 🍰🍬 It was a morning filled with joy and great company.

Introducing August NQ Quality Care’s spotlight team member Tracy.
Tracy is one of our NDIS Service Coordinators in our Kirwan office.

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

I am 28 years old and have been in the industry in various roles- support worker, administration and Coordination.

I’m known for being bubbly, kind and hardworking. I enjoy crafting, diving into a good book every now and then and relaxing with a cup of coffee.

What do you like most about working with NQ Quality Care?

I love that NQ Quality Care places a strong emphasis on genuine care. It’s a core value that guides everything we do. I also appreciate the freedom I have to support my clients fully, without limitations.

What are your strengths?

I am hardworking, empathetic, passionate, kind, enthusiastic and understanding.

What are your weaknesses?

I can at times get distracted and feel overwhelmed. I do find it difficult to say no to challenges and instead tackle everything head on.

What is your favourite part of being an NDIS Service Coordinator?

My favourite part is going the extra mile for my participants and constantly challenging myself to improve as I navigate the complexities of the NDIS

What does a typical day look like?!

There isn’t really a typical day. Some days there are heavy administrative tasks at the office while other days I’m on the go visiting clients and providing support. The variety is one of the things I love most about working at NQ Quality Care.

Put on your most curious hat and step into a world where nonsense makes perfect sense!

When we set our minds to something, the team at NQ Quality Care do not take no for an answer. While every obstacle wanted to prevent our participant from travelling home to the Islands to attend a funeral, the management team tackled them head on.

We are incredibly grateful to Brianna from Nautilus Aviation who went above and beyond to ensure that the final leg of the trip between Horn Island and Masig was able to happen.

A big shout out also to Casey - Support Coordinator from Compassionate Connections Co. who has been working through the planning of the trip and obstacles faced while we were away.

A whirlwind 24 hours, 2 person support team, magical island views, many challenges faced and overcome = an experience we will never forget ☺️

NQ Quality Care would like to introduce you to our Participant Korban☺️

Over the past 4 years, we have had the privledge of supporting Korban through different organisations. Korban started receiving support from the age of 15 and at that time faced a numerous number of challenges in his personal life.

Whilst Korban was receiving supported he successfully gained employment which he stated “ he never thought he would see the day this happened”

Korban began to gain more confidence in his abilities and his belief that he could achieve anything he set out to do. Korban worked through various challenges throughout his employment and with a dedicated support team around him became a vital part of his employment team. During this period Korban also successfully obtained his Learners Licence.

Korban came on board with NQ Quality Care in June 2023 and has been receiving weekly support.
When Korban commenced with our organisation, he had 2 clear goals which included:
~ obtaining his Provisional Licence
~striving to pursue further career opportunities.

Over the past 9 months Korban’s Quality Support team worked alongside him to ensure he met the requirements to sit for his Provisional Licence.

Korban’s support team worked with Korban in having conversations with his Employer about exploring Management Opportunities.

Fast forward to July 2024 - Korban is now proud Store Manager in his Employement at Zambrero.

Korban has also passed his Driving Test and gained his provisional licence.

Dreams do come true and with the right team around you- anything can happen.

June Support Worker Spotlight- Eve 🔑

Tell us a little bit about yourself?
Hi, my name is Eve and I'm Mum to five incredible kiddos. I'm 39 and love building diy projects, gardening and hanging out with my bantem chickens.

I was working in retail in my 20s and a friend encouraged me to study aged care, as she had landed her dream job in aged care and thought I would love it also.
I worked for 7 years with a large aged care company and found my passion supporting participants with dementia, but when covid arrived and restructuring occured, I moved to another company that also had participants with complex needs and a range of challenges, and have found so much joy working with disability support.

What do you like most about working with NQ Quality Care?

I love the genuine passion of the staff at NQ Quality Care, to not only support daily living for participants, but actually encouraging our participants to thrive, to enjoy life and connect with their communities.

What are your strengths?
I feel my strengths are my creativity and helping build confidence. Holding space for my participants to grow and feel stability in their supports.

What are your weaknesses?
My weaknesses are that I drink far too much coffee and I let one of my pet chickens inside to sleep at night, as she has trouble reaching the perches with the other chickens.

What is your favourite part of being a support worker?

My favourite part of my job is seeing participants joy at learning something new, and knowing that the suppirts they recieve are not just meeting their needs but building a life they love and enjoy.

What does a typical day look like?

A typical day for me includes a variety of elements like cooking, preparing and attending appointmens, helping around the home and finding activities that promote self care, like visiting parks and muesums learning meditation and building routines that support overall wellbeing.

May Support Worker Spotlight - Madi 😊

Tell us a bit about yourself?
My name is Madi and I am 20 years old. I am a 2nd year Occupational therapy student at JCU with a passion for Paediatrics.

What inspired you to become a Support Worker?
I became a support worker to provide families the extra support I wish my family had when I was growing up.

What do you like most about working for NQ Quality Care?
I love our participates and the smiles I get upon arriving at shift.
The office staff are amazing and so supportive as I conduct my studies. They are always there for a good laugh in between shifts.

What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Strengths- I am told that I am very good at coming up with the most outrageous games and activities, especially when trying to work on the development of a skill.

Weakness- I am very shy upon introduction. As I am cautious about how I come across, I really work on making sure my participants feel supported.

What is your favourite part of the job?
My favourite part of the job is watching my participants reach their goals and seeing how much good support means to them.

What does a typical day at work like?
I work with mainly kids and teens. So a typical day will vary depending on who I am with.
This can be from playing video games and doing craft, all the way to make believe games such as tent monster. Along with these I also try to support the parents of the kids as I understand how mentally straining it all can be.

Madi has been working with NQ Quality Care for over a year and provides support to young children and adolescents. Madi is absolutely amazing at skill development and fostering environments of independence✨

Today's Townsville Bulletin featuring NQ Quality Care directors Sarah Travers, Stephen Travers, Lauren Rawlins and Karen Manning at their new premises at 54 Thuringowa Drive, Kirwan.

NQ Quality Care was founded last year by four veterans of the disability sector with the goal of providing exceptional disability services that promote independence, inclusion, and empowerment for individuals with disabilities.

Colliers Townsville agent Shaun McLaren, who assisted NQ Quality Care in finding their new location, commented that the office had great exposure and a signage opportunity.

“The practical office fit out suited their needs really well. Combined with ample parking, this tenancy was ideal to help them grow their business,” he said.
