Designed for the pregnant mother preparing for their immediate postpartum, or mothers IN the early months after birth desiring nourishing in-home cooked meals that are perfect for a postpartum mothers digestion and healing.
Pregnancy and birth is tremendous work by the body. We often focus on nourishing our body whilst pregnant, and then may not give so much consideration to how and what we eat after birth. Yet we continue to nourish our babies outside our body for months after birth!
A postpartum mothers physiology requires nutrient dense foods that support healing of tissue & ligaments; foods that are easy to digest; and warming. If you're breastfeeding, there is also a higher caloric demand.
Nourishing food after birth is essential for gut health, mental health & overall maternal well being!
This offering is for you if you are:
✨Desiring nourishing and wholesome meals after birth, but you are unsure what to eat to support your recovery
✨Planning, preparing and batch cooking feels too exhausting & overwhelming
✨Happy to offload the mental load of meal planning and food preparation
✨Know that the days & weeks after birth require support and know we can’t do it all alone.
How it works?

Exchange $200.
Also perfect as a gift voucher!
Some things to consider when preparing for your postpartum period.
1. Practice slowing down and resting. Explore WHY rest is so essential for healing and replenishment after birth, this can help to anchor you into the commitment to rest.
2. If you are intending to breastfeed, spend some time learning about this, observing other mothers, thereby getting a little more familiar. I am also acknowledging that the biggest learning will be when your in it for sure!
3. Receive bodywork, or practice modalities that help bring you into your body and boost your oxytocin. This is excellent for birth preparation and for mothering in general. Nothing like children to bring you into your body and notice the subtle messages.
4. Explore how to eat in the early months after birth. A mothers digestion and nutritional requirements differ significantly to that of pregnancy.
Consider foods that are warm, easy to digest and nutrient dense. Your caloric demand is so much greater!!Preparing foods ahead of time and/or asking those in your circle of support to bring you meals can be really helpful!
5. Consider who you wish to have in your space after birth and begin these conversations with your partner. Knowing that your partner can not be your postpartum plan. They too need support as they support you. The weeks after birth are known as a sacred window of time. Physically and energetically newborn mothers are open and sensitive.
You are deserving of supportive, feel -good people around you.
One more thing I would add is make a list of all the things you LOVE, that make you feel good and boost your oxytocin, so you can refer back to this time to time.
If you want to dive deeper into a postpartum planning session with me - please reach out.
The postpartum time is undervalued and under resourced within the western model of care.
We can see it with the number of antenatal visit being significantly greater compared to that of the postnatal appointments.
Support is normal, necessary, and a non-negotiable.
Cross culturally, mothers after birth are supported to rest;
supported with nourishing food and teas to replenish the body;
supported in ways that offer warmth to the body and spirit; &
supported with love and care.
The postpartum time we come face to face with our inner narrative of receiving support and asking for support.
We are in a time of reclaiming the sacredness of the months after birth.

🔥 Hot tip
Start preparing for your postpartum whilst pregnant. Nourishing your body with food is a big one! Often overlooked and under planned for.
When it comes to FOOD
🔥 learn about postpartum nutrition (knowing that your nutritional requirements differ to that of pregnancy)
🔥 explore recipes, list out meals. and consider some of your fav comfort foods
🔥 do some bulk cooking (or have someone else do it for you 🙋♀️) to fill your freezer with foods AND (one handed) snacks for the months after birth
🔥 set up a ‘Meal Train’ (or have someone else do that for you, like a friend or 🙋♀️), so that family and friends can bring you & your partner food.
Locally we have who has menu for postpartum mums.
Consider eating foods that are
✔️ easy to digest (soups, stews, pudding, congee, meat stock)
✔️ warm
✔️ warming such as cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, (❌avoiding chilli 🌶️ )
✔️ nutrient dense
❌ Avoid cold, hard, raw foods like smoothies, salads for the first few weeks.
Preparing yourself for your postpartum during your pregnancy is key 🔑

Love this quote about Circles 💫
“If you think about it, our entire existence happens in circles. Our lives start out of a single round cell in our Mother’s womb and end up in the womb of Mother Earth; we come from eternity and we return to it. Just like the circle that has no beginning and no end, life too is a never-ending cycle of change. It’s only natural that transformation and healing occur in circles too.” Anne-Marie Baritchi - from her book
‘Full Circle When women come together, we heal as one’.

"Just over three months after my baby was born, I was blessed with a beautiful postpartum ceremony offered by my doula Tanya of Nourished Beginnings. This was my first pregnancy where I considered hiring a doula and I am forever thankful for having her support. It made such a difference to my mental, physical and emotional health."
I am so humbled & grateful to have had the opportunity to accompany a dear friend along her pregnancy and postpartum journey. It was so beautiful to close the fourth trimester with a bespoke Postpartum Ceremony. Chelsea Lee Smith so beautifully painted the picture of what it can look like to have a Postpartum Care Provider journey along side you, nourishing you as the Mother so you can nourish your baby & family.
Thank you so much for documenting this so beautifully.

Postpartum care is a regenerative practice
Inspired by previous conversation with a regenerative farmer - tending to the land in a way that revitalises the soil, leading to healthly harvests, and ultimately communities - this of course had me connecting this concept to mothers.
On the larger scale, society has forgotten how to truly tend to the mother, just like society has forgotten to tend to the land in a way that optimises soil nutrients for optimal and nutrient dense harvests! They - mother and land - have been influenced by, and depleted from, capitalism, industrialisation and productivity.
And yet on smaller scale levels, there is a revolution of tending to mothers with cross-cultural elements for healing and wellness.
Supportive postpartum care imbued with honouring ritual and practices specific to a mother’s physiology IS regenerative care for a mother!
She has been the fertile soil from which life springs, thus needs replenishment in all layers so to continue to ‘give’ to child(ren), family and community.
💫💫💫
The weeks after birth is truly a sacred window of time. A time of slowness, tenderness, healing, bonding, learning, and morphing into a new version of self-alongside your baby.
It requires and deserves loving community support around the Mother.
Relieved of her chores & responsibilities, so that her energy can go into healing, recalibrating, establishing milk supply (if she chooses to breastfeed), learning the cues & expression of her baby, and keeping her oxytocin soaring.
An extended resting period after birth is noted in MANY cultures. Anywhere between 20-60 days of deep rest, replenishing with foods & herbs, and being tending to by those around her. This was within their fabric of community life.
In our modern day context, we need to consider and plan for our tender weeks after birth, and beyond. Postpartum care is not yet embedded into our collective ways. We are reclaiming postpartum awareness & care.
There are elements that all postpartum mothers require, and then there is personalised & specific care given unique situation.
Consider
✨How do I want to feel
✨Who do I feel comfortable to be my true, raw self in front of
✨What foods will nourish me and replenish my body
✨ How long do I intend to be intentionally resting
✨How will I bring warmth into my body
✨ what ways can I get my partner/family on board
✨Who are the practitioners and professionals in the community that can I reach out to when needed
✨ ways to boost oxytocin
✨Who will reflect back to me my truth and acknowledge the transition of matrescence that I am traversing
✨What items do I ‘really’ need
✨ and more
What are you contemplating or wish to have considered before the before of your baby?
✨✨✨
📸:
Postpartum begins in pregnancy 🤰
….In the sense of thinking about, preparing & planning for the immense changes, learning, growth & tenderness of the weeks and months after you birth your baby.
We plan for and invest in weddings; we plan for & invest in our careers; we plan for & invest in our birth (which is super important!)
We can plan and invest in our postpartum by:
- exploring what happens in our body’s after birth and ways to support our healing & replenishment;
- foods & teas that heal;
- consider who we want around us and how they can support us;
- create relaxing & restful practices to lean into when it’s all feeling hard & exhausting;
- have a resource list on hand of those in our community who we can call upon when things are going pear shaped
- how we can thrive in our postpartum & beyond.
You CAN do this yourself, research and prepare.
OR you can take the stress away & tap into a ‘road map’ that I share with you, and personalised it for your unique circumstances & preferences 🤗
1:1 postpartum planning sessions available in person and virtually.
P.S 2nd trimester is that sweet spot to start preparing 🤰✌️
Wonderful!! 👏
May it be the WHOLE of QLD someday soon!!
This new Queensland-first homebirth service is all about empowering women with more choices in maternity care! 👶
The Publicly Funded Homebirth service is launching at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital mid-next year. This will allow expectant mothers with low-risk pregnancies the choice to give birth in the comfort of their own home. 🏡
Research shows that planned homebirths, attended by skilled midwives, have similar safety outcomes to hospital births. 👩⚕️🏥 For the safety of the mother and baby, a number of criteria will be considered to determine whether this service is suitable.
The outcomes of the service, including safety and quality, benefits to women, sustainability, consumer interest, and feedback, will guide future planning and investments in other parts of Queensland.
A huge thank you to the hardworking staff and consumers who've made this service possible! 🥰
Just wanted to share that I am taking a pause from social media. Not sure for how long.
I’ve stepped into a 90 day meditation container and I keep getting the message to unplug from socials so I can retreat & anchor deeper within for greater clarity & direction.
I feel things are shifting.
I am so curious to see what unfolds.
I feel ready to do the work and redefine.

“Tanya is an actual angel. Her energy and aura bring such an important element of ease and rest to the space. She is open and loving and this allowed me to express anything and everything to her. I know 100 percent that her care was pivotal in allowing me to deepen and take the space necessary to thrive postpartum. I felt held throughout the entire journey and she always shared so much wisdom at every stage. I am so grateful to know Tanya and to have received this gift of nourishment from her.” - Meghan
Hellooooooo 💓
I haven’t been so present on socials lately.
There is so much happening behind the scenes.
Amongst mothering & all that this encompasses, I have been with mothers. Nourishing them with visits, ritual & Ceremony; and holding them in virtual conversation/messages.
I also turned 40 and celebrated this.
I am still Nursing.
Also stepping into some exciting collaboration with .au in .
It’s all a constant refining of where energy flows.
Currently shifting things up, letting things go, & redefining. Many mini deaths & rebirths.
This is me & my youngest during my biz photoshoot with
It was a sneaky snap, and I love it so much!
It is because of my boys - my initiation into mothering three times - that I feel called & inspired to be in this realm of offering postpartum education & nourishment to mothers. The blend of both into one 💞
Hello 👋 🤎 I’ve recently opened back up my FB page as a means to let you know I am around! 🤗 Still nourishing mamas in their postpartum time, and offering mother-centred ceremony. Predominately hanging out on Instagram, but here too. Xx

Nourished Beginnings
My name is Tanya. I am a wife and mother of three beautiful boys. I have a background as a registered nurse and have a keen interest in alternative therapies and healing modalities. The birth of my first child changed my world and kindled an inner fire desiring to nourish mothers as they transition from maiden to mother, and mothers bringing more divine beings into their nest. After the birth of my second child, that inner fire grew.
My desire for all newborn mothers is to ease into motherhood feeling confident, supported, nourished and loved. That each mother can have the space to tune into her glorious self and her baby so to be intuitively guided as she mothers, where she can share her thoughts and feelings without judgement, where she can ask for help without guilt. Ultimately for her to feel supported and held as she navigates the newness of her child and motherhood.
