As I said, one thing after another right?
Story time….. we’ve had another obstacle with packaging…truely it never ends. But instead of keeping our lasagne off shelves for potentially months as we did with chicken parcels, we’ve decided to package them like this in the interim. I know, I know, it’s not our stunning signature packaging but you guys were pretty devastated when we kept the chicken parcels hostage for so long and lasagnes are our best seller so we dare not keep them hostage, especially not over the holiday season. Anyway, different, not as beautfiul look but the same amaizng, delicious, much loved lasagne as always 🥰

Wowza, one thing after another round here at the moment. So after nearly 3 weeks of fighting fires on some neighbouring Properties and then our own, thinking the fire was over multiple times just to see another light up or jump breaks, we have our fingers and toes crossed that’s it’s over now. With a mere spot of rain, and I really mean just a spot, might be enough to keep it out and with any luck, that spot is just the start of a decent wet season to come 🤞🏼🌧️ and a few less rainless storms of lighting, done with that for sure 😂🤪🥴⚡️🔥👨🏼‍🚒 thank you to the friends that travelled out to give us a hand, we really really appreciated that. And to our Mum, Dad, brothers who worked on the front line tirelessly for days and nights on end and to our SIL .anning who kept them well fed and watered. What a good, hard working bunch. It’s a huge job fighting bush fires in the dry summer heat, especially as non qualified firies with little gear. Fire is incidious. Funnily enough, in all the action and exhaustion these lot were able to remain in decent spirits and even appreciate the beauty in the beast and it rip roared through our country. Also for those of you who are wondering, I know a couple of our girlfriends have asked us this so I thought I’d share…..fences were cut, the cattle remained safe 🥰 and now the huge task begins of getting things back in order after all that fence cutting, sorting out water and feed, hopefully in time to have some days off for Christmas!!

I’ve seen this other brand of pie on the shelves next to us at a few stores, in fact I’ve even taken one home to try it. Not bad at all but I haven’t met many pies I didn’t like 😏🥧
The alternative option was marked at a lower price than ours so immediately I flipped to the ingredients to find out why and I wanted to show you what that price difference means.
It simply means that we’ve packed in more quality ingredients than you can shake a fork at.
The 41% beef is premium grass fed beef straight from our family cattle station and processed at our award winning small home town butchers. The 20% vegetables are locally sourced from our friends (and stockists) in Townsville and we peel and chop them ourselves. The pastry we source from a small family business in Brisbane and is made to order.
So as you can see there’s not much room left after the good stuff. The remaining 10% is sauces and spices and we use normal cornflour to thicken up the gravy.
So there you go…just a little FYI in case you were wondering 🤠🐮

I need to leave this here! I haven’t been giving as many family updates as I used to, in fact I just haven’t been doing regular updates on anything but I feel like this one is important! Sara had a baby girl 9 months ago, the cutest little Adaline Rose and here she is on her first muster with her powerhouse Mum!! Our first little cowgirl in the family and she loves it already 💕

It’s very good. We grew up on this and still choose to eat it for lunch or dinner 🥧

Oooo sorry to anyone with photo OCD who will cringe at the uneven horizon line but I did my best in a chopper with a pilot that was eager to check out the entire station in between the downpours. Just wanted to show off the characteristic black basalt rocks that we named our company after. They really pop against all this green at the moment.

Another product update/Enquiry…Bolognaise Mince, do you want this on the shelves again? This is probably my family’s most consumed product of all because I put it with pasta, potato, sweet potato, mix grated vegetables into it and even add pork, fennel and chilli to it to give it a new taste, I love its versatility and its ease. It’s been absent for quite a while now, we upgraded to 1kg containers and have been selling online, direct from the factory only while we have been trying out the new size. We’ve had a lot of enquiries about it’s return and wondering if you want to see it back on the shelves at your local stockist? Let us know 🙏🏼🍅🍝

Not much can be done when it’s as wet as it is on the station at the moment but if there’s a decent and safe break in the rainfall, you can bet the chopper will be making the rounds to all the many rain gauges up top (on the mountain) to see how green the year will be 🌧️🌱🚁

Hi friends! Happy new year! I know we are nearly 2 weeks deep but it’s taken me a while to get back into the swing of things on here, it’s been a slow start to the year. We’ve been lucky enough to see in 2023 with green grass, full dams, flowing rivers, happy cattle, a freezer full of stock and lots of post Xmas orders to fill. Unfortunately before the end of January we are saying goodbye to 2 of our guys, Dexter and Jarred as they head off in pursuit of dreams but thank the staff lords for bringing us Lachy 🙏🏼 who has even helped us secure our next bit of man power, bless him.
If I’m completely honest we haven’t started 2023 with a clear vision of our goals and direction for the next 12months but as I sit sipping my coffee this morning looking out over the green paddocks, grey skies, listening to the birds and smelling the wet earth I feel a real sense of sureness that some fruitful things will unfold this year, perhaps things we’ve been talking about for 2 years will finally start to take shape. That thought is, of course, as exciting as it is daunting because with each new step in business comes a much greater workload and a hint of uncertainty as we navigate unchartered territory. Nevertheless I’m looking positively upon the road ahead and hoping 2023 is a ripper for everyone.

To you this probably doesn’t look like much but to us, this is a sensational and extremely satisfying sight! This is a perfectly clean, organised freezer with a very healthy stockpile going into the Christmas period and giving us a very relaxing 2 weeks off without having to worry about getting back and doing double time to make up for time away. Biiigggg shoutout to our best guys who’ve helped us get into this awesome position 🙏🏼
