IR (infrared photography) changes the way we view the world. A series of images shot of water and plants. This is exploratory work for an exhibition at the end of the year.
LAUNCHING TODAY 5PM: Big Stories, Small Towns is an internationally acclaimed evolving documentary project that tells local stories with global impact. This exhibition in the eMerge gallery until 2 October unpacks stories from one town into the gallery space. Featuring a range of video, photos and artworks created by Martin Potter (JCU) and Nadira Ilana with the villages of Bongkud-Namaus in Sabah, Malaysia, the work offers an insight into the living culture of the Dusun indigenous minority.

Jason DeCaires Taylor has been a key figure in pushing Land Art into a marine environment and over ten years later now has over 850 life-size public works installed underwater around the world and will be making a presentation about his work which will be followed by a panel discussion.

Mumme’s the word at JCU – Huxley Press James Cook University’s final-year New Media Arts students have been given a taste of creative life after graduation, with a student-curated exhibition opening in Creative Arts & Media’s eMerge Gallery last Thursday.
Come join us in Townsville for from 11:30am - 2pm Wednesday the 19th of April for the launch of "Exercises in Futility" a new solo retrospective exhibition by Paul Mumme curated by third year Creative Arts & Media students.
To celebrate the opening, there will be live music and a barbecue on offer while the students fund raise for their own Graduate Exhibition show at the end of the year.
REMINDER! The first Groovin The Moo Community Art Workshop starts THIS weekend on Saturday! Umbrella will be partnering with Groovin The Moo Townsville to create a large artwork that will be displayed at the festival on the 30 April 2017. Participants will help to create a GIANT caterpillar with the help of arts facilitator Lynn Scott-Cumming. As a participant, yo could be in with a chance of receiving a FREE TICKET!

The Eddie Koiki Mabo Library Art Exhibition is held on the anniversary of the naming of the University Library on the Townsville Campus after Eddie Koiki Mabo (b. June 29, 1936 - d. January 21, 1992) - a Torres Strait Islander activist, and former JCU staff member and student.

On April 28th Creative Media staff were joined by some great year 10 students who had fun framing their world.
Are you passionate about sports photography? Now is your chance to get your work published by a national sporting body.
The Northern Fury FC are looking for a Journalism or Photography student who is skilled at sports photography to attend weekly Northern Fury FC games. You'll have access to the field and potential post-match access to players and coaches.
In return we're looking for a minimum of 5 photographs (to be provided on game day) to be used for media and marketing purposes for the team as well as the National Premier League.
Based in Townsville, games take place weekly with their first match this Saturday 16th of April. Post-match food is provided, and transport to and from the match is offered where suitable.
