What an incredible effort by our little dojo on the weekend.

Senpei Julz
Gold in Kunite
Silver in kata

Angus and Frank
Did not place in Kata but had a good crack non the less.

Angus fought very well in the kumite but was stacked against many seasoned champions. The experience he gained will serve him well for the up coming full contact tournament’s. Osu well done!

Yalda did well in Kata but was up against some higher grade opponents. She also fought really well against a yellow belt. But unfortunately the flags did not go her way.

Eli
Did not place but definitely left nothing left on the Matt. He beat a blue belt in his first ever kata competition. Top effort.
He had a massive division in kumite. Where each round he fought really well improving each time.
He has a really promising start to his kyokushin journey. And will definitely be 1 to watch in the up coming years.
Osu.
Super proud of all the effort.
Also big special mention to the Winchelsea Kyokushin Karate Dojo for hosting such an awesome event.
Also special mentions to Irene ,Amelia and the Narre Warren Kyokushin Karate dojo for all their help on the day of the tournement. Fantastic effort by all involved. Osu.

What a magnificent weekend at the end of April! It started with Friday 26th April, the 30th Anniversary of Sosai Mas Oyama's passing, and we celebrated with a solid, hard sweat session, some stories of the great old days,in true Kyokushin spirit we finished it off with some great non padded sparing. We were privileged to witness an 8th Dan, 6th Dan, and 5th Dan belt ceremony, truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We also gave our Sensei Ian his birthday gift, which was three months in the making. Such a wonderful night it was! It was amazing to see the branch come together. Osu.
Our attendees

Senpai Julz
Frank
Irene

Sunday 28th April Victorian Championships.
This was set out to be as amazing as the memorial training. It was an enormous day with 5 states putting up fighters.
Between Narre warren and Forest we had a contingent of 13 competitors!!
We came away with:
Non contact
2 gold medal
And 2 bronze medals

Full contact
1 x Champion
1 x2nd place
2x 3rd place.

Lindsey
Johnny
Kobe
Keelan
Lincoln
Teina
Ryder
Koray
Brody
Raj
Lavin
Prasham
Eli

All these fighters stepped on the Mat and did both our Dojos very proud!
Johnny was an amazing ambassador in the ring and we truely honoured to having him fight under the Forest dojo banner. He worked so hard leading up to this tournament. And he truely gave his all on the mat. Even though it wasn’t the champions trophy he fought like a true champion. Not giving an inch. Truely inspirational.
I would like to make a special Mention to
Raj, his first time in the arena. He was up against I taller opponent but that did not stop him getting in and having a go. Although he didn’t place he most definitely learned a lot about him self and where to improve on for his next battle. Really exciting to see how he goes.

Prasham and Eli our youngest competitors. They really showed people what Forest is all about. A dojo that rolls their sleeves up and has a good hard crack at things.

Eli
had the biggest division. It was his first ever tournament and he had only been training with us for just over 2 months.
He came out of the gates and won his first match catching 3 flags and the judges decision. His second fight was against the overall winner of the division. And although he didn’t win that round it didn’t stop him from coming out and giving it his all in his 3 rd fight. Again another close fight. But couldn’t turn the flags his way.

Prasham
Came fourth in his division. Another new up and comer. Never having any experience in the ring. He came out guns blazing winning the first 2 rounds. But then lost his second and third.

Again let me be super clear on how proud I am of all the competitors that step up and had a go. Hopefully they will turn the tide and encourage everyone to get up and have go. Who knows they might just enjoy it.
And the only way to ever truely test your selves is to is jump in and have ago.

Osu;

The day seminar yesterday was sensational. With over 70 people attending it was the branch's biggest to date and just look at the talent we had there:

1 x 8th Dan, 2 x 5th Dan, 4 x 4th Dan, 4 x 3rd Dan, 2 x 2nd Dan and 8 x 1st dan as well as 7 international representatives and a current World Champion. Where else could you get this exposure / experience?

I'm incredibly proud of those from Narre Warren and Forest who took the time; and showed their dedication to come along and learn and experience what they could. Lots of great feedback from those who went and how they're tracking! 15 from our two dojo's were present and I'm sure thoroughly enjoyed and took something away. Given our numbers lately; I'm sure we can bring almost double this next time.

Don't stop this level of commitment and never give up!

30/01/2024

Osu!! Just a reminder: we will be at our Original Dojo tonight.

Forest Kyokushin dojo has been running now for 3 years. Starting up a new dojo is not easy and has its own challenges. We had covid lockdowns to deal with but in true Kyokushin spirit we never gave up.

Yesterday we had a great turnout on our regular Saturday fight class celebrating this occasion with a good sweat session 👊. It's going to be a big year for all and these classes are a must.

A big thanks to Senpai's Julius & Aharon for running these classes. Not only are they difficult but they're very educational and rewarding.

Special thanks to Sensei Ian for his unwavering commitment to keep Narre Warren dojo open all these years. Without you we would not have this dojo.

Thanks to everyone that made the effort to turn up yesterday and it was a great day. Also congratulations to Sensei Richard on his recent grading and training with us, senpai Roger from making the trip from Geelong.

Osu what a fantastic night it’s was. It was an honour to train with some living legends. And also to hear the amazing things that Sensei Luke did while he was around. There was a full house with over 60 training. And the first 3 rows was made up of Dan grades! This branch is truly amazing. Osu.
