Hey does anyone have some suggestions for this person who contacted the page?
No comments about gluten spelling please, we know how hard it can be to type on the phone sometimes!

I know it is not really a change, but I appreciate that they have added the label!

Nutella has been gluten free by ingredient for a long time but have you noticed that it is now labelled gluten free? 😉
Use this as an excuse to go and grab yourself a jar. ❤

Why should businesses do Gluten Free? Please share.
Hold on... This may be a long post...

TLDR: coeliacs are good for business.

First, let's be clear: by GF I mean 100% Gluten free.

1. Coeliacs are loyal. If we find a place that has GF, listens to our needs and we are not sick after eating there: we will be back. We will tell our friends who require a GF diet. We will shout your praises and support you! We have a limited amount of choices when it comes to eating out.

2. By catering to Coeliacs you are not only attracting 1:100 people to your business. Any group of people looking to eat out, if they have one person who requires GF, they are more likely to choose your business!!! Do not underestimate the power of GF!

3. Many dishes are easily adaptable to GF. Yes, often pre prepared GF products are extremely expensive (we know this!), but substituting a spoonful of flour with a spoonful of GF flour in a sauce will not break the budget. If you have the space, dedicate it to GF food prep. There is a lot more to discuss here and feel free to contact me on 0423492000 (Tristan). I am more than happy to help you make your business Gluten Free.

So you have read the above an what to do GF better? Here are some tips:
1. If you can not do 100% GF, be honest with your customers and don't offer it. We would rather the truth than be unable to function for the next 24hours!

2. Use dedicated utensils and condiments. For example, do not use the same butter to butter glutinous bread and GF bread. The solution is dedicated butter/jams that reaming GF or you always spoon the condiment out (be sure not to touch gluten bread!).

3. Never store pre prepared GF foods next to glutinous foods without them both being covered. It only takes one crumb to make a coliac sick. The solution can be to have the GF food on top shelf of display cabinet. Cover the foods in cling wrap.

4. Learn to read food labels. If in doubt most customers are happy to look at the label for you. "May contain gluten" is a no for Coeliacs. Some people may take the risk

I have run out of space. So much more to say! Send me a message if you want any advice. Happy to help.

Despite my usual terror when I see anything that looks like it was cooked in a deep frier... Just seen this... clearly says Gluten Free....
I take it that Grilled's deep frier is gf? Sorry rambling, happen when I spot something new...

Looks good. A little expensive (like all gf) but worth it! I have had the donuts, loaf of bread and muffin things. Anyone tried some of the other stuff?

18/03/2020

Went to Woolworths today to grab sone essentials like milk. It was an amazing experience watching how much stuff people were putting in their trollies. I watched in disbelief as a lady put 6kg of home brand margarine in her trolly.
What about the photo? With all the empty shelves I started to wonder why there were a few pockets of goods not being taken. To my surprise a lot of them were gf products. Has it been that long since I ate gluten? Would people rather have nothing than something gluten free? Or is it that I am so used to paying extra for gf that I did not even blink when I payed $2 for a small packet of noodles?
At any rate: stay safe. Be calm and don’t go crazy, there are plenty of Poole already doing that for a.

Good to know.

CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) - Coeliac Australia has received a number of enquiries from members about COVID-19 and coeliac disease.
The advice from our Medical Advisory Committee is that presently, there is no evidence that coeliac disease imparts a higher risk of serious illness to COVID-19, but there will be people with coeliac disease who do fall within categories of higher risk for serious infection (e.g. aged over 60). It is important to always manage your coeliac disease optimally by following a strict gluten free diet and being monitored by your healthcare team (for more on this, see the overview provided on Coeliac Australia’s Monitoring & Follow Up Fact Sheet: bit.ly/FollowUpFacts). Practising good hand and sneeze/cough hygiene is the best defence against most viruses - more information on recommended COVID-19 precautions at the Department of Health website: bit.ly/3b0es4b. MEMBERS, further COVID-19 information from our Medical Advisory Committee is now available for you in the Member Area of our website https://www.coeliac.org.au/member-login

How are you all going? Keeping calm?
Are there any essential Gluten Free supplies you are struggling to get with the madness gripping the town currently?
Let us know if you have any tips and suggestions that could help us GF people’s survive this time without loosing our minds!
Stay safe.

Kind Regards
Tristan

Just had breakfast Carlo's Cafe. Beautiful as always and very accommodating with the gf.
I am very sensitive to gluten and I know very soon after eating it there was cross contamination. You will be pleased to know that I am still going strong today. No symptoms of cross contamination.
It gets my tick as ‘Safe’ for gf. Just as with everywhere just ask questions and don’t be scared to ask clarify if something is gf. It is your body and ultimately if we talk to cafes about our needs it should improve for everyone!
Feel free to share you experiences and let us know.
(I had the bacon and egg roll, on gf bread (see photo).

Welcome to all of the new members. Feel free to post suggestions and experiences of gluten free in WAGGA and surrounds.
If you eat out, let us know if if was ‘safe’! Also post if you find new GF products in a shop. For example I found a 4 pack of full sized sausage rolls at Bernardi’s and was super stoked because so much gluten free food is tiny!
Also, I eat at G Thai on the Main Street and feel fine afterwards (menu is clearly marked). Let me know your thoughts.

Regards,
Tristan Russell.
