Winter 2022 Registration for Junior Basketball is now open.

No experience in basketball is necessary to begin.

All boys and girls aged 6 years and over are welcome to join and start playing week beginning Term 2.

All players receive weekly lessons by a coach to develop their basketball skills and you have the option to play in the mid-week or Saturday competition.

WINTER 2021 REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN

To register please choose from the following options:

Saturday Junior Domestic Competition - https://www.playhq.com/basketball-victoria/register/d75312

Registration is conducted online using PlayHQ. This system will enable you to register and pay from the comfort of your home without having to attend Registration Day.

All new players should attend Registration Day to be fitted a uniform correctly.

Please note our registration fee structure for Winter 2021 has changed.

The registration cost will be $260 per player which includes the Heathmont Hornet’s player registration fee and all match fees for the season including the finals and entry into the stadium for all players and spectators for the course of the season.

Players requiring new uniforms can attend Registration Day to be fitted which will take place from 9:00am to 4:00pm on Saturday 20th February 2020 at The Rings Function Room. For everyone else please register online unless you are experiencing difficulties.

Registration to Winter 2021 will strictly close on Sunday, 1st March 2020.

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT DEAN BABB:

Dear Parents,

As a result of the Premier’s reintroduction of Stage 3 lockdowns for metropolitan Melbourne (from 11:59pm Wednesday 8th July for 6 weeks), all basketball must be suspended until restrictions can be eased and community sport reintroduced. As such, Heathmont Hornets must advise that the planned resumption date (8th August) for junior domestic competitions will no longer be achievable.

The GEBC has always taken a cautious approach to the resumption of its competitions. At this point in time they are unable to commit to an exact return date for junior domestic competitions, however the management team will again use the next 6 weeks to continue monitoring the Government's position and revise our reactivation strategy with a potential return date set in line with our usual summer season dates.

As we make our way through the next 6 weeks the GEBC will continue to communicate with Heathmont Hornets regarding the revised schedule of dates and other key information. Once we obtain a clear understanding of what age group your child will be in for the Summer 2020/21 season and what venues we can use for training, we will pass that information on to you.

As always, the health and safety of our members is paramount and we continue to be guided by the Government, Health Department and Basketball Victoria and will communicate any changes to our programs and competitions as information comes to hand. These are challenging times for all in our community and we ask that you remain as positive as possible and seek professional assistance if required.

An important message from our President Dean Babb:

Dear Hornets families,


I trust everyone is healthy and keeping up with the advice regarding the containment of the spread of the Covid-19 virus. There's no denying that the last few weeks have given us all time to pause and reflect on this pandemic which has reshaped our society and transformed the very nature of our daily lives in ways we never saw coming. It will be a trying time for everybody over the coming months and more important than ever to keep active and fit in body and mind.

The communication we have received from Basketball Victoria today is the following:

“At this stage, due to stage 3 restrictions by the Victorian Government, the Autumn and Winter 2020 domestic basketball seasons are suspended until at least 31 May 2020.

This date is being regularly reviewed and updated as the impacts of the Federal and Victorian Government strategies become apparent.”

It will be quite a few months until we are able to take to the basketball courts once again. Please note fees and uniform payments will be held over until we get to play a season of basketball whether it be Winter 2020 or Summer 2020-2021.

Finally, in addition to keeping healthy and safe as we don’t know how this will play out, one thing we do know is sport has a unique power to bring people together, and it is vitally important we pull together during this difficult time. Whenever you have an opportunity, please give other members a call and find out how they are doing.

For all players who RSVP’d for Rush HQ, please make sure you are there at 6:15pm for the safety induction (this is compulsory).
Please bring shoes (not slides or thongs) for the ropes, ninja and rock climbing courses.
A sausage sizzle and bottles of water will be available for free.
The cafe will be open for all other food and drinks.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
RSVP’s for the presentation day have now closed.
Please arrive at 6:15 for a 15 minute safety session. This safety session is MANDATORY for everyone so to make it easier for the staff of Rush HQ, they would like everyone there at 6:15 so they can give the safety lesson only once if possible.
Also, just a reminder that all players need to bring their shoes if they want to participate on the ninja, ropes and rock climbing courses. Thongs and slides will not be permitted.
Special socks will be provided by Rush HQ. These are the only socks allowed to be worn if bouncing.
