Our Story

Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) is a non-government and non-profit, voluntary, consumer rights organisation dedicated to the promotion and protection of the rights and interests of the general consumers in the country. It is located at 8/6 Segunbagicha, Dhaka-1000. CAB is registered with the Department of Social Services vide reg. No. Dha-01247 dated 14-03-83 and with the NGO Affairs Bureau vide reg. No DSS / FDO / R-197 dated 02-03-86. CAB is also a full member of the Consumers International (C.I), a federation of consumer’s organizations all over the world. The major areas of CAB activities are consumer information and education, monitoring on the prices and quality of essential commodities and services, complaints handling and providing legal support, campaign for safe food and commodities, safe environment, promotion and protection of breast feeding, studies and research on consumer issues and problems, advocacy and lobbying with policy makers, government & non-government agencies for enactment of Consumer Protection Law as well as for change of government policies in favour of consumers’ protection.
