Nobo Dhaka for the founders is a journey from the past to the present, old to the new, with the goal to reflect the rich heritage of textile and craft of Bangladesh in a fresh modern take. The focus is on revival of Bangladeshi cotton prints (chintz), Jamdani, Tangail, Rajshahi silk etc., using local craftsmen and history inspired designs, including, but not limited to also working with them on enabling further efficiency in their business value chain.
Silmat Chisti is the co-founder of Nobo. Prior to starting Nobo, Silmat’s entire career was in finance. Her early years were spent as a corporate finance specialist on Wall Street in New York City. Eventually, her position with a multi-national investment bank took her to Asia Pacific and finally back to Dhaka.
Silmat has traveled extensively and discovered her passion for textile and crafts and the history of mankind that each weave and each stitch carried. After retiring from investment banking, Silmat started working with weavers of Bangladesh, mainly to facilitate their “access to finance” and “supply chain efficiency” issues.

DEW Crafts is a sister concerns of Development Wheel (DEW), a non-profit development organization founded in 1996 by a few development professionals and researchers to promote self-help poverty alleviation initiatives of the poorest households in Bangladesh. The main focus of the organization is to work for the promotion of the sustainable livelihoods for small scale Agriculture and Arts and Crafts sector producers in Bangladesh through facilitating the development of small enterprises with an aim to generate sustainable self-employment opportunities for under-privileged rural and urban people. Besides, DEW Crafts is also active in the fields of climate change, livelihoods security, agricultural promotion, women empowerment, human rights and good governance in partnership and collaboration with different international and national organizations with a vision to have a society where all people will enjoy equal rights, equitable access to employment and adequate resources necessary for their livelihoods and will live in dignity.

DEW Crafts has been separated from the charity Development Wheel in August 2016 as a sister concern enterprise with a vision to support more effective and efficiently to its producer groups in the sector of Handicrafts and agriculture.

Khan's penchant for the Jamdani dates back to her childhood days when she would see her mother drape them so elegantly during special events. It was during a visit to Rupganj about 4 years ago that she felt the pressing need to add the Jamdani to her line of products. The dream is to have an enabling environment that liberates us from the self-destructive life, but it’s a change that demands time and requires collective effort. With this vision, Shalbrikkho aspires to create and make available renewable energy solutions as well as biodegradable and recycled products for the community.

Up to this day Shalbrikkho has developed bamboo products and bamboo furniture, Renewable Energy Solutions like wind turbine, solar tracking system, Recycled Plantable Paper Bonkagoj and Polythene alternative bio Plastic Polka for packaging work. At present we are working on few other eco-friendly products and wish expand those as much as possible.

AADI started its journey formally in 2004 but informally Amman has been designing and making jewelry as a hobby since 2001. AADI products are mostly made of natural items like gila, ritha, tulshi, rudraksh, wooden beads, clay beads used for fishing net's, seeds, tabiz, shells, antique stones, conch, mother of pearl, kori, chandan seed, tree branches, lotus seed, coconut shell, feather, iron door knockers among many others. Aadi Lohakara products are also eco friendly and are made with used items like old buttons, coins, old wrist watches, old keys, old spoons, soft drink caps among a host of other items.

AADI is the only jewelry brand in Bangladesh that has been upcycling from the very beginning. Upcycling is the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or a higher environmental value (Wikipedia). AADI has been using copper wires from used refrigerator, chains from old ships, glass from old broken bottles, metal from old bicycle parts, wood and nails from used furniture.

Jothashilpa believes that art is an integral part of life and society, and started its journey for the enhancement of arts practice in Bangladesh. They work to promote and protect all forms of art such as fine art, folk art, native art, crafts, etc. They work with special focus on living styles of human being around the world, and an aesthetic sense which emerges from everyday life practice in society.

Jothashilpa works with artisans from different parts of the country and supports them directly with fair terms of trade. They primarily focus on developing improved working context for artisans who are experiencing a loss of their craftsmanship and livelihoods due to non-conducive consumer ecology.
