(A choledochocele is a cystic dilation of the distal common bile duct. The diagnosis is challenging and rarely made before surgery, as the presenting symptoms vary wildly and are nonspecific.
Choledochoceles usually are manifested in adulthood with long-standing nausea, vomiting, and episodic abdominal pain. Stones and sludge are often present, and patients often have episodes of biliary colic , intermittent jaundice and pancreatitis as well.
The treatment of choice for choledochal cysts is complete excision.)
