These amazing and precious coffee beans are cultivated around the coffee belt, countries situated around the earth's equator and inhabiting a tropical climate, warm temperatures ☀️ and a rainy saison 🌦️, ideal for the growth of coffee plants 🌱and the beautiful red tasty coffee cherries. ☕🍒

Brazil 🇧🇷 is not only the world's most successful team at the FIFA soccer World Cup ⚽, but more importantly to us, they are also the world's leading coffee country producer with 35%. They have an increadible number of 300.000 coffee farms and covering a huge surface of 27.000 square km 😱💪✨

Their coffees are mainly characterized by delicious mild taste notes of chocolate 🍫 and nuts 🌰. Which is because these beans are often grown in lower areas.

When FloTino Cups meets Valrhona.

Coffee and chocolate, a perfect match! To enjoy your first coffee moment with us, each FloTino cup will be delivered with a Valrhona Caraïbe 66% carrée chocolate.

The pairing of chocolate and coffee is not only scientifically but also tastefully remarquably interesting. The presence of tannins in both coffee and chocolate can mask or sublime some flavors for several seconds depending the order of tasting both. For instance, when you first eat chocolate, the tannins within the chocolate will partly saturate your taste buds on your tongue, and emphasize the other characteristics of your coffee. The darker your chocolate, the stronger this effect will be experienced.

Caraïbe is a wonderfully balanced chocolate with a mellow, well-rounded flavor. Thanks to its great equilibrium
Caraïbe has become L’École Valrhona’s benchmark product. Caraïbe’s name pays homage to the diversity of the Caribbean islands, whose cocoa beans inspired its creation.

Caraïbe is a subtle blend of cocoa aromatic profiles typical of the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Jamaica and Togo. These profiles are blended to obtain Caraïbe’s unique and consistent flavor, which is both balanced and roasted.

While creating the Toubakouta espresso and cappuccino collection I was inspired by the mangroves in southern Senegal. 🌿

The mangrove is an ecosystem that can be found along the tropical coastlines where it maintains a vital connection between the marine and the terrestrial habitats, allowing an enormous exchange of organic material and where it shelters a multitude of living organisms. Unfortunately it’s one of nature’s most endangered ecosystems today. 🌍

During our journey in Toubakouta and the Saloum delta we embarqued in a typical local canoe to explore the vast maze of mangrove and observe the wonderful inhabitants of this incredible forest. This unique moment far away in Senegal’s wilderness has been carved in stone in our memories. 💚

FloTino Cups is cofounded by Florence and Martino. 🙋‍♀️🙋

We are both passionate about great coffee, delicious pastries and discovering great places and cultures all around the world. We found each other and live ever since in Brussels with our 2 wonderful boys. 💞

The story of FloTino Cups all started in 2022 during our Mediterranean summer holidays. 🌞

During our stay we realized there were no real espresso cups available at places we booked. We had good coffee with us, but no decent cups. 🤷

So, as it would also be a nice holiday souvenir, we went searching for real espresso cups in the Croatian villages but without much success.

Finally, during a warm and charming evening in Split, we visited a coffee bar called D16 where we were thrilled about their espresso cups, which were designed by a local designer. We ended up by asking to buy their original espresso cups and take them home.

That lovely evening someone raised the question: “what if we design and sell our very own coffee cups?” ✨✨ and at that moment FloTino Cups was born.
